OMG... that was like a MASTERCLASS in designing with a neutral palette!!! This is a 10/10 for me!!! Pure perfection on every level. This homeowner will never want to leave this home and at the very least she has double the value of her home. From the architectural details to the functionality and magnificent interior design, this is really just breathtaking. I'm drooling & dying over this!!! Wow!!

I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily boring. This is their signature look, for one thing. But also, boring would be lack of colour AND lack of depth. While this home reads very neutral, there is a ton of layering, texture and textile mixing, loads of variety of materials, and yet a pleasing cohesion with placement and appropriate repetition. That’s incredibly tricky to execute when you can’t rely on colour contrast.

I agree! If anything I think clients go to Studio McGee for precisely their aesthetic. The way Shea layers textiles snd textures and even different shades of the same color is absolutely beautiful. It’s also not easy. Their look is understated luxury which I love

What a beautiful home. The thing about neutral tones is that they’re easy to live with and they’re classic and don’t date. Colors can be added in the form of scatter cushions , artwork , lamps and throws…all easy to change without spending vast amounts of money. This is a classic home which will grow with the family . I love the classic style, & airy feel to this design! Trends are fun but you can never go wrong with "classic." The "moody" rooms are lovely to look at, but I could never do in my home, it depresses me. This home brings old charm with a new feel, it screams cozy, family, & welcome but without losing an ounce of sophistication!

You did well Shea! Having grown up in the house the owners must have a lot of love for the place and you made it so incredibly beautiful for them. Totally love all you did here and with a lot of existing features and furniture it must have been a hell of a challenge. I love everything about it besides the navy blue sofa (then again I imagine three little boys on it).My favourite must be the round window, trim work, the archway and the hidden downstairs loo. My favourite project yet (perhaps only because it speaks to my heart)! Thanks a lot for sharing all your awesome tips as well. A valuable lesson in design.

Excellent house , I love houses like these however I have two bits of feedback, 1 to complete the classic look in the hall I would finish the runner on the stairs with stair rods in chrome or brass secondly I would have removed the blinds throughout the house on the larger windows and replace with shutters.

I wish they didn’t choose that grey quartz because it looks cheap from a distance and because there’s no veins or depth it makes the kitchen look very bland and flat.
