Sweet! Danny Kroha recorded two cover songs in my house about 12 years for a secret 7" that I don't think ever got released.

As a huge Gories' fan, I truly enjoyed the interview. Got to see them live here in Italy in 2015 and had a very pleasant chat with them after the show. I look forward to seeing them live again this summer. Awesome job guys, thank you! -Fabrizio

Wow! Great interviews!it's amazing you were able to cram so much info' in a mere 1h23min''!! Among the super-intersting topics, the way Mick "taught' Dan to listen more "analytically" I was super into the Cramps, Tav Falco, which had led me to "old" stuff, getting into those old comp' and Chess (especially Howlin' Wolf & Bo Diddley) as well as some noisy-rock stuff but I wasn't really into the "Garage Revival" bands when I discovered them via their 2nd LP (on New Rose) and they became my favorite band for a few years (displaced when the Blacktop album "I got a baaaaad feeling about this" came out,which sounded like a more "professional" or "heavier" Gories in way).. The Gories felt a bit like kindred spirits.. Also, I had read that they described themselves as "mods" early on so I had assumed there was a mod "scene" at the time

I was at the show that they are showing footage of. It was at Underground Arts in Philly. The Outsect and Daddy Long Legs were the openers....man did they warm the crowd up. LLLLLLordy Lordy.

This footage is actually from the next day at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City. The same two bands opened for them as well. I missed the Outsects performance but Daddy Long Legs were AWESOME. I really really really liked that band. Very tight and right up my alley with the 50s rock revival type of thing.

I love The Gories and The Dirtbombs. Great bands, with a great sound. And Mick seems like a right solid bloke to chat with.

I think mods in the US never hit it off because they were overshadowed by the hippie/rock period. The beats and the folkies were already there for a while, and most American people probably never heard of 'mods'. And maybe mods were too European (or too much juppie/student) for Americans at the time. Wearing parkas and suits, riding Italian scooters, but listening to great American R&B, Motown, soul, etc. I like the idea of 'clean living under harsh circumstances', but I like the hippie era too. It was like 200 years had gone by from 1960 to 1970, everything changed! The 1950s and the post-world war 2 mentality were finally on their way out..!🕴🦹♀💃

Thanks for adding that bit with Alex C. What a validation having Alex being interested in the Gories and pitching in with production!
@baronsaturday95602 ай бұрын
There was also an Alex being the producer of their album House Rockin', or he signed them/took them in, etc. Just saw something about it in Gories doc 'Detroit Punks', maybe it's the same person. PS: Sorry, you're talking about Alex Chilton, didn't realise! 🙂

IF you ever want to do a live set in Grand Rapids MI please let me know. I'm a big fan. I could probably get my band to be a rhythm section. Or you can kick your drum and rock out. I love that shit.
@baronsaturday95602 ай бұрын
It's fine as it is. Their rhythm's also in the guitars, and they sound much more up front because of Peggy.

Great interview! Great work! The only criticism is that there’s not much about Peg. Would like to hear more about her. Maybe in another episode?
@Mario_DiSanto11 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, Danny indicated that Peg wouldn't be interested in an interview. She is very reserved and doesn't seem fond of the public spotlight. When they were on stage, immediately after they played their last note, Peg rushed off the stage faster than I've ever seen anyone move haha. She didn't care for any applause or nothing of the sorts. She seems to be an interesting character for sure!

@@Mario_DiSanto Well that’s cool. If she wants to stay out of the public eye, then we should respect her wishes. I dig her drumming.
