Just visited the Mary Tyler Moore statue in downtown Minneapolis 2 weeks ago. Told my wife to please shoot the photo quickly, and fortunately was wearing my sunglasses, because it was quite emotional. I loved Mary and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. I was 13 in 1973 when I discovered it. The statue is back at the intersection where the iconic scene of Mary's hat toss occurred in the opening credits.

Before my employment in the entertainment industry, I was front office supervisor at the Waldorf, where Ms. Moore kept an apartment in the hotel's towers. She was everything gracious and kind. I sent her flowers on the occasion of her being nominated for Ordinary People and she wrote me back a most beautiful letter. I've seen so many interviews of Ms. Moore over the years, this one is a true favorite. Well-done. Mary Tyler Moore--sorely missed.

What a fantastic interview. I absolutely adore MTM and watching this interview it's easy to see why. She was an incredibly funny actress in both the Dick Van Dyke Show and the Mary Tyler Moore Show, but when I first saw her in Ordinary People I was shocked at how amazing she was as a dramatic actor. She was stunningly good and every time I see that film I get chills. I love hearing her talk about her career and life, she is so interesting and has such a great, sparkling personality and she's so funny. She is a national treasure and the world sure could use more Mary Tyler Moores in it.

She makes admissions in this interview that she does in no other. I think the long form of the interview and the lack of an audience made her more comfortable and unguarded (that brilliant smile was her armor--note when she flashes it). She was a complex person who lived a hell of a life in eighty years. She succeeded as an actress and the co-head of the studio which bore her name--and, for a time, MTM Productions was the most powerful entity in American television. Eventually, I believed she succeeded as a person too, which makes me happy. I think she overcame all of her hardships in time and I admire her greatly for it. I have gut a feeling that she just wanted more time to do it all, and I selfishly wish she had that time as well.

In my opinion, what makes this such an effective interview is not so much about the questions that were asked, but rather about the manner in which the interview was conducted. Unlike Larry King, Barbara Walters, or another typical celebrity interviewer, Mr. Ferrer never for a minute lets himself become the focus of the interview; Mary always remains the focus, and she’s intelligent, articulate, and poised enough without being too full of herself so that she never disappoints us in any way. P.S.: By the way, Mary’s recollection beginning at 32:55 of the job interview scene in the first episode of the Mary Tyler Moore Show is imperfect; if you don’t believe me, go back and look at that part of the episode for yourself.

She comes across in both her content and feeling . In Mary's case this is doubly true because, as we see in this wonderful interview, she is so modest and self-effacing. Her soul learned many lessons and she defineteley became a deeper person. She shared all of her deepest thoughts in her book After All . We all came cold unknowingly stop knocking others who are positive . Okay Honey from a man who was ina business modeling at 50 because someone noticed me and gave me an offer .and because of this met many performers. Most were cordial but many were focusing on the acting that would appear cold . You must have irritated her with your agenda and not considering the room .

I'm grateful that she can now see, walk unaided, is pain-free, and is reunited with Richie, but sad for her friends. I still cry sometimes, and my heart hurts the most for Robert, for outside of Richie, he loves her more than anybody forever and she him. In addition to being spouses and lovers, they were and are each other's best friend.

I just watched this interview it was very good. First thing my mom's name is Mary and our last name is Moore I told my mom years ago I thought it was so cool that her and Mary has the same name. I always watched MTM every Saturday night and never missed it. The last show was so touching especially when they all hug and Mary looked one more time before closing the newsroom door. Later when I saw Ordinary People I could not believe what a fantastic movie it is the acting is excellent I am still blown away she deserves that golden globe award.
