I just wonder how to play 4 and 7, since the strings are for 1, 2, 3, 5 & 6? Push somewhere in left of the bridge to make such sound? Anyway thanks lot for the explanation and demo.
@yuyiya2 жыл бұрын
Yes, since the instrument is tuned to a 5-note (pentatonic) scale, you have to make any other notes by bending the strings on the left side of the bridge. Such notes include: 1) those notes missing from the usual 7-note (heptatonic) "diatonic" scale; 2) accidentals, such as sharps and flats; and 3) microtones, such as neutral thirds and sixths.

I would not learn from a book. Of course, you'll need notes for learning but get a teacher, preferably face to face classes and learn the basics. Learning from a book would be hard I guess.
@gagaxueguzheng2 жыл бұрын
@BangkokBall #StopWW3 #SaveUkraine Better than nothing I guess. I had online lessons in the past and they are ok for stuff that can be heard by the teacher. But there are limits to online classes because the teacher can hardly notice subtle hand posture or technique errors, can't use your hand to show you how it's done and can't play together with you because of the lag of online audio. It should be possible to learn from online tutorials and online teaching but if one has the chance, one should definitely have face to face classes once in a while (if the teacher is far away, once a month or so is also better than just self study or online teaching).

Spartan4free XCore i also play the piano too and the guzheng is similar to the piano except vertical, and the strings of the guzheng are numbered, so for example, number 1 string sounds like D note on the piano, but usually when I am transferring guzheng to piano or piano to guzheng, i just do number 1 string equals to C note. I’m not sure if you play the piano, but if you do, it will be easier to understand. On the guzheng, it skips the notes 4 and 7, or G and C. It’s kind of difficult to understand because when u think about it the 4th note on the piano is F but yeah... You have to bend the 3 string and 6 string of you want to play 4 and 7.
