No freaking way…I thought not another soul in this world knew this short story. Civil War lit had a profound effect on me, and this story was a strong contributing factor. Whenever I read it again, I shall never “hear” it the same. Thank you. I think. 😬

Always loved this journey into the mind of one condemned by Ambrose. The movie Jacob's Ladder was loosely based on this human need to stave off death. The mind is a curious thing. Thank you for a beautiful read sir.

This story suddenly came to mind after not having thought of it for many years. I probably first read it 40 years ago in high school, and this was a masterful reading of it. One can never forget the shock at the revelation at the first reading, and which can never be repeated, of course.

Geoff, I can't tell you enough how much your speakng voice calms my soul. Do you have something slow & much scarier you can read ? You said your favorite role to play was that of a villain. @verushannaidoo9450
@verushannaidoo9450 4 жыл бұрын
ASMR is a feeling of well-being combined with a tingling sensation in the scalp and down the back of the neck, as experienced by some people in response to a specific gentle stimulus. So it's all about how it makes you feel. So I guess it is
@Dan-Black
@Dan-Black 4 жыл бұрын
@@verushannaidoo9450 - Yep, that was what I was getting at. It doesn't give me that sensation, but it probably does for some people, and this is the kind of thing some people put in ASMR videos. There are different "triggers" for various people's ASMR; probably nobody has exactly the same set of triggers. (Reportedly. I don't personally feel that kind of stimulation from any sounds I've heard, at least as an adult, but some things are still nice to listen to.) But I do find his voice very nice to listen to. I've considered making a couple videos like this myself, mainly just because it actually feels good to speak with a low voice -- you get a very pleasant, soothing vibration in your upper chest.
