Awesome video John. The good ol D800 still going strong! Man those dragonfly shots were amazing and the colors too. One thing too and I’m sure you’d agree, the Nikon RAW files are so good for post processing and what you can do. Another great adventure John, thanks for sharing buddy 🤙🙏. PS. Yes! Just have fun! 😊

Adrian - i LOVE LOVE LOVE this camera and everything about it. So much so that I have been thinking about buying this lens and this is what got me wanting to rent the Z9. If anything about that can compare to this, I will buy it. All over again, the more I use this camera, the more I love it. It really does offer for ME, something that no other camera ever has. Thank you, thank you for letting me share. 4 frames per second - BLAZING fast magic!! 🙏💖🤗

Dear John, I am pleased to see that my video on the Nikon D800 was an inspiration to you and you too have made a video on this fabulous camera, the Nikon D800. I'm really happy. Good boy. 100%.

Yes, thank you. For many years, this was my all time favorite camera. I love all the new tech and how easy it is to get a great shot - but this..... made me feel like a real photographer all over again using all my skills and it was awesome. And, I still think this is my all time favorite camera. It still has something for me that no other has - at least for me and what I want from photography!!! 🙏💖🤗

Peter!!!! DSLRs are NOT dead. It does take more skill and know how to get a shot. The mirrorless cameras are awesome and I love the tech, but I LOVE that I have to think about each shot. That is one think I really liked about the M50 as well. Pulling this camera out again reminded me of how much I really love this camera. It still has something for me that no other camera has. This is one that will be with me until it or I die!! Thank you Peter!!! 🙏💖🤗

Spectacular shots namesake. It's who is behind the camera that matters most. The nikkor 200-500mm is a tack sharp lens. Thanks for proving 2012 DSlr is as good as 2022 mirrorless but with a great photographer behind

Sean - I humbly thank you. I feel like a real photographer when shooting this - all my earned skills are in use and I really love it. This was my favorite camera for such a long time - and I think it still is. It has something for me that no other camera has been able to match. Working on another with my 500 F4 on this body as well - I am in love with it all over again to the point where I am thinking of buying that lens - it was awesome. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! 🙏💖🤗

@@JonnyPink65 I just sold the 200-500mm this morning and ordered the 180-600mm, hopefully it will arrive before I leave for the "Zigairmeet" in Mollis, Switzerland. I think it will make a good combo with the Z8. Have a good day.

Hi @jonnypink65 watched your older videos and saw you talking about your desire to try out this lens. 'm not in the budget for a mirrorless camera at the moment but recently bought an D800e and have paired it with my Nikon F4 300m prime lens, but really struggle with the autofocus. The main subject I photograph are owls - any tips on metering/focus points appreciated!? I have gone back to the D700 as a result and am getting better results but must be doing something wrong. Am putting my pennies aside for the Nikon 200-500 or Sigmas 150-600 which are similarly priced here in the uk but am being swayed to the former, and your video endorses my choice, hopefully I can get to a decent standard like yourself, and thanks for keeping the old DSLR candle burning bright!

Thank you!!! Well, I still shoot my D800 - it is still my all time favorite camera body. I shoot everything single point with this old body and I think I have it set for matrix metering - it works for me. As far as lenses go, I know the Sigma and Tamron each have that extra 100mm of reach, but I found, at least for me, the 200-500 to be sharper. If you have access to lens rentals, you can try both and see which one works better for you My friend James prefers his Tamron to the 200-500 so we all have preferences. If the D700 is working for you, then keep shooting it. The prefect lens camera combo it the one you have in your hands. I love going out to shoot and I do shoot thousands of shot, but I only use a couple. For me finding the best of the best of the bunch, then processing just those makes me happy and that is what I share. I like new gear but as the newer stuff comes out and we all sell the older stuff, it is less expensive on the used market - a win for everyone. The only real tip I can give other than just have fun, is keep the ISO as low as you while keeping the shutter speed as high as possible to avoid motion blur. You can push the ISO in the newer bodies but the older ones not so much. My D800 I prefer NOT to shoot over ISO-400 if I can avoid it. 🙏💖🤗 PS - even on the new bodies, it seems to me the image is still cleaner at lower ISO

Hey John I have a lens question, how fast is the focus in the d800 with the 200-500mm? Is it fast for today? Can you make a short how fast is it? THANK YOU!!
@JonnyPink65
@JonnyPink65 2 ай бұрын
If I recall, it was fast, but not as fast as todays gear. I dont have a 200-500 anymore so I will have to rent one sometime. I was wanting to do that anyway. It is still a great camera body, but the new stuff is just more reliable and faster..... with more shots in a burst! 🙏💖🤗
