An old ‘back in the day’ hair curling method helps Nanny with her 86 YEAR OLD THINNING HAIR….and she gets busy styling a few VINTAGE HAIRDO’S…with some success and a few products. My mother passed away 9/25/2023 at the age of 96. Her hair was extremely important to her. Every Thursday her hair was washed. She was showered, and her hair was curled in those spongy curlers. She wore them overnight and by Saturday her curls loosened up and looked great for the weekend. Thank you for the memories.😢

Oh Nanny, how I remember curling my hair, especially for school pictures. Unfortunately, my hair was so broom straight, it would quickly revert its self back to poker straight. Now 75, my hair developed a natural curl after menopause. I couldn’t believe it. I wish my mother were still alive to see this wavy hair.

Just a Suggestion … instead of first going through with a brush try slightly working through the curls with a wide tooth comb … then continue with your chosen style.

Hi Nanny I love the colour of your robe. If you purchase a pick they are only around a 1.00 and they are so gentle and give you body and you won’t have to tease which is so hard on our thin hair. Try it the plastic ones are the best and they comb through the curls so easy. Myself I curl my hair with big pin curls. Hugs Bea

What and fun blast from the past….pink foam rollers. When I was 15 til about 22, I had very long hair and I slept in those plastic can-sized rollers. What the heck was I thinking. Soooooo not comfortable, but we did it anyway. I also ironed my hair on the ironing board to straighten it. Now at 72, what I would give to have that thick, lustrous hair again. I think those sponge rollers are awesome for you nanny, they’re easy to put in their kind on aging fine hair and they give a nice curl that fills in when we start planning a tighter curl it’s always gonna cover your scout better and then just lean your head over and use your hands and after you roll it, take the Curlers out, then lean your head over and just pull the hair out and make the curls looser

Hello Mary Ellen! Another fun video. I like your updo hair styles best! Geez, I remember using those awful brush hair rollers that were very prickly and hurt your head! Ugh....then we graduated to the plastic hair rollers that had little plastic 'nubs' on them and fortunately they didn't dent our heads! Those soft foam rollers are certainly better! Nanny, I have them. But, they leave "dents" in my fine hair. They're great because they're comfy, you can sleep in them, and, they don't pull or tug on thinning hair.
