I’m sick of height barriers. Norfolk was the last straw for us with our motorhome. Only managed to visit 1 beach because of height barriers. Actually made it make up our mind to sell it and go back to having a caravan. We find it gives us much more freedom to explore. Love those doggies though!
@theexPAWersАй бұрын
Yeah there’s barriers everywhere isn’t there, must be worse in the height of summer as a fair few are down now it’s a bit quieter, the UK really don’t like campervans and motorhomes really does it😅
@caherinehall885018 күн бұрын
Norfolk has had an influx of travellers just taking over the public car parks en masse and staying for weeks. Councils have had to get eviction orders to move them on. That’s one of the main reasons there are height barriers on car parks. Everyone then has to suffer because of it. I live in Norfolk so know this from personal experience. Yet we have a couple of families come and camp in our village every summer, nicer people you couldn’t wish to meet. We went to Cheltenham for Gold Cup meeting and found a lot of car parks were closed completely, because of previous problems with travellers taking over the car parks for weeks. I
@ellamiddlemiss621917 күн бұрын
I absolutely get it. I was really just pointing out that one way around this problem is to ditch your motorhome for a caravan. Then I noticed comments that the locals dislike those as well 🤭

I have done two driving holidays (out of 4 trips to the UK...both of my driving trips were in campervans..both trips I ended up finding some very interesting park-ups, like yourself...these sorts of spots really make a trip memorable..I always checked for any signs about parking limits, I even took photos of signs, just in case, especially if the meters did not require payment for after hours parking and when fees started in the mornings..it was better to have my arse covered..I spent one night parked in a cul-de-sac, just past houses, so that I would not be an annoyance...I stayed in quite a few jaw dropping sites...and I'm an Aussie who has done four holidays in the UK..I'd love to do a fifth, but I doubt I'll ever have enough money to do so again..

It’s truly lovely to see your journey (literally and emotionally) and whilst you see each other every day, I only see you once each week and this week’s is profoundly different IMHO. I hope I’m not overstepping here… acceptance (of grief) does not, as previously thought, occur in chronological stages or steps. Yes there are stages but in the journey, we might have one step forward, two back, four forward, one back and all we can do is go with it… It’s ok to feel happy and to laugh and with that, at the most unexpected moments, grief might come crashing in, like a fkn tsunami. It’s part of our journey and in my experience, we don’t “get over” losing somebody we love but instead, it becomes a part of us and we live with the loss and carry them with us in our journey. I feel such admiration for you both having the conviction and commitment to keep your amazing channel going and to share your journey with us. Sending the warmest hugs. Seeing UK summer weather again, reaffirms my decisions and whilst I holiday in Catalunya, I look forward to heading south to Andalusia again in a month or so. Sadly, 14 years of budget cuts and austerity have resulted in local councils being savagely starved of funds and whilst I don’t necessarily agree with their obsession with screwing us for every last penny (e.g. parking), I understand their need. Before Shropshire, I lived in Sussex and it was normal to apply for and pay to park in front of your own home! Utterly absurd… Stay happy, keep the channel authentic and best wishes.

Timings probably won’t work for you but the best seal spot we have found is a place called Donna Nook on the Lincolnshire coast, it’s where the seals come to give birth. There’s a fence to keep humans and seals separate but there’s often seal pups just a few feet away. Typically all the activity takes place late October to the end of November.

Such superb editing and you made me laugh, which I needed. Just got back from Summer in the van in Ireland and Wales. You‘re right about the supermarkets. They‘re empty now, though. I bought everything to get me through until I‘m back over for Scotland. Btw we headed to Dolbadarn castle after watching one of your older videos. We were going to film a music video there. That’s the conundrum isn’t it, you described it very well. We have the sunshine and a more relaxed lifestyle in many ways. Less people, cheap wine and tapas. I too miss the English supermarkets, the fab shops, the ease with which you can get anything. The people and especially the old pubs. There is definitely a price to pay for living in the sunshine. I don’t think I’d survive the rain and the cold and the dark after so many years in Andalucia and now in Gib. But sometimes I’m really tempted to try it back in England.

Aww these places brought back so many memories. We holidayed in Hunstanton many times with the kids in our tent. Wells next the sea (not next TO the sea!) with the in laws (all 27 of them) in a house on the beach and snettisham (Nick it’s pronounced with a “sh” lol). However Norfolk was always difficult when I holidayed with my family when we were children as my brother was always ill with tonsillitis. Every blooming time! Doctor said it was something in the air. Norfolk was a decent easy journey from Essex where we lived until three years ago when hubby and I relocated to the Highlands. This vid reminded me of the amazing beaches and how far the blooming sea would go out!!
