I've definitely seen grandmasters miss simple moves due to factors like pressure and time-trouble, but wow, I never thought that two of the best players in the world will both miss a completely winning move at the same time. Just goes to show the amount of psychological awareness that is required for the game. Chess is like no other!

I've noticed so many times this commentator always makes the best players seem like fools for missing obvious moves and combinations. If he's calculating all this in real time then why isn't he world champion? So I'm guessing he must pre-analyse then add commentary after, or he's using an engine for lines. I always see people complimenting him for the commentary, he certainly does a good job of making games sound exciting!

Yes, he does pre-analyse the games. This is not live. The games with the commentaries come out many hours or even days after they were played, so obviously he had time to analyse them. And sometimes, the way he comments suggest that he already knows what will happen. Otherwise, as you say, he would be better then them because he sounds like he always sees moves or ideas that those world top players don't see...
