Linus is a perfect choice for a case study in designing protective packaging.
@trapical2 жыл бұрын
I think most people still underestimate how effective modern packaging is. As long as the retail box is unopened, you can throw most products off your roof and have them fall two stories down into hard concrete with zero damage done to the products. This is even more true for lightweight things like those m.2 drives, you could fastball pitch that box into a brick wall and nothing will happen to the drive inside.
@redhammer922 жыл бұрын
@@trapical As a former truck dock worker and Lowes employee. Nahh, that shit gets destroyed. Why is this series (Extreme Tech Upgrade) so fun to watch? On the surface it sounds like the worst marketing idea ever: "Hey, lets give some media outlet lots of money they can do whatever they want with as long as they at least buy an Intel CPU. They film the whole thing and thank us for the free money. What could possible go wrong?"
@Wylie2882 жыл бұрын
Its the best marketing idea ever. Intel gets huge advertising over a long time span for basically pennies. Linus gets free videos over a long time span Linus's employees each get $5000 upgrades And we the viewers get really fun videos. Its brilliant. (also they don't have to buy an intel cpu) Most of them are because all those cores are really only useful in super high tier workstations. Which they have at work, where they do work. Where-as going with a faster CPU like intel can impact games. Planet Zoo for example. That type of game gets bottlenecked by the main game thread very easily.

I mean $5k for millions of views on a video that positively mentions intel multiple times and encourages people to upgrade their setups out of jealousy? Loved this. Reminded me of the first flat i moved into many years ago (although yours looks much nicer). Not a lot of furniture but lots of computers. The Ikea couch broke after a couple of months, propped it up with an old unused cd drive and it lasted another 18 months until we moved out :)

the "My Generations housing was much more affordable" joke hit hard, ouch Linus you cut all of us deeply

Well, Linus's (and my) generation are still, you know, paying for housing too, so, yea...
@vax65752 жыл бұрын
@@arklanuthoslin Linus being 35 puts him having bought his first house between probably 10-15 years ago, if it was 10 years ago that means that that house (if it were in the area that I am in) would sale for about double . If it were 15 years ago then it would sale for around 3 to 4 times the original price. I'm 25 and I make a somewhat decent salary for my age. I can not afford a house, I can not afford a rent on an apartment. Me, just like most of my friends my age live with our parents still because we can not afford to live literally anywhere else while also making car and insurance payments and being able to get groceries.
@arklanuthoslin2 жыл бұрын
@@vax6575 Not everyone his age and older (I'm 40) was in a position to buy a house back then. I sure as hell wasn't, and am still not. Not remotely. I don't know many people who are or were, at least in the US. So I'm very much involved in the housing market in the same manner. I have coworkers your age with my exact job and income. I'm older, but that doesn't automatically make me more successful.

Ya the days of kicking your kids out the house when they hit 18 is long gone if you do that your instantly putting that kid on the street homeless even if he has a job there no way he's moving into a house that's not shared it's to expensive.

VIDEO IDEA: Take the transparent TV back and make a digital aquarium retrofitted inside a two sided wall at the new house so you can see the fish from both sides and everything else because it's transparent. I think it would look AWESOME on the gaming or lan room!

It’s surprising how casual they are together considering the 14 year age gap. That much age difference between me and my boss and I’m like, “Yes sir. I’m extremely grateful for the upgrade. Don’t worry this won’t affect my work performance sir.”

I replaced my Meshify 2 with a Corsair 4000D because of how bad the air flow for my Founders 3090. Definitely highly recommend replacing the case to avoid over heating issues.

You probably used the stock fans, which are limited to 1000rpm. Replacing them and adding a couple of 1800rpm Arctic P14 pwm fans would have been a cheap fix for the airflow in that case.
