As a dual citizen of both the US and Canada, who spends approx half my time in both countries equally, I can most assuredly present to you a per capita percentage of Canadians who are profoundly lacking in their knowledge of history.that falls far behind that of Americans in every possible area of history that you would care to refer to. That statement, which refers to a group of 350 million people is so broad as to be meaningless especially as you are not positioned to assess “ the knowledge of history of Americans” no matter what your vocation may be. You then use this patently flawed assessment to insult Americans and using your “Grammie” to do it which doesn’t contribute to its being even minutely legitimate. Having said that I hope you are enjoying this American platform, KZbin, and this discussion American discussion which is being produced and conducted by Americans, who do not know “their history.” The irony and absurdity of your comment and it’s conclusions is beyond the pale.

I'm a Canadian and I know we're no better than Americans when it comes to history in general. There are a lot of Americans that do absolutely look down on working people. Those people vote for both sides. I can appreciate why working folks can both dislike the bosses and owners that treat them so badly AND the politicians that seem to want to help them but talk to them like they are idiots all the while.

As an educated paper-pusher, I've always thought just the opposite: I've always looked up to people who do physical labor, knowing how difficult it is, but also that people in those fields seem to have a lot more common sense.

I'm surprised this lady didn't point out the authoritarianism demonstrated on Jan 6 as the DOJ has finally admitted that 26 feds were on the Capitol grounds acting as instigators

We will. It's the suffering, death and destruction in between that's the issue. My theory is that at the end of this, we'll have a new Constitution with a more stable Westminster type of system.

Miss information and poor education not covering Civics or Our Country’ whole real History and Just so frustrating for U.S. who work so hard!!!! I'm a Social Democrat, so regard education, not just K-12, but through university as a public good, so it chafes when most of the 'go to' US academics work at private insitutions, in contrast to the rest of the world, where state schools are the norm. Despite this, I find Professor Richardson wise, insightful, and refreshingly down to earth. Please keep it coming. Especially now.

It’s tough when private institutions pay much more here though.

There are still plenty of things EVERYONE really SHOULD know, though, and they will get taken advantage of if they don't. I would say one of those things to know about is how to not be willfully ignorant and blindly trust that everything will be OK under that kind of personal policy.

A formal higher education degree does not equal intelligence, look at 45, and a number of Congresscritters! There are plenty of highly educated idiots out there. And, one can be smart as get out in their area of expertise and know absolutely nothing about any other area of knowledge, science, technology, the arts etc. Also, it takes smarts, logic, and left-brained intelligence to know & do the trades!
