Once I got in an argument with a guy because he didnt wanted to undertand the difference of a courtensan and a prostitute (I mean, courtesans are prostitutes but have way differences that the ones now days). Like my point was that if you go to a bordel you pay to sleep with one of the ladies and she cant deny you since you're paying, yes I know htey can performer and everything but its diferent of the ways the coutersan would do. Courtesan would be payed just to spend time with you, sipping tea, playing intelectual games, dancing (not as seductive as today), also with poems and more, they were trained since young to be smart, classy, seductive, but if a courtesan doesnt want to sleep with you, the price for that would increase a lot and trying to force her might make you be expulsed cause you would be "damaging a product". In a resume my point was how different courtesans were treated, with respect, high rankin ladies that knew a lot about many things and didnt had to sleep with someone to get paid
