It's pretty insane how arguably the most iconic Cod map was born because a dev saw an Indiana Jones movie and thought a certain scene looked cool.

The Indiana Jones writer has the United States military to thank for nuketown. It was based on the real tests that happened in the 1940’s - 1960’s when testing…. You’ll never guess, nukes. It may have actually been used until the 1980’s but don’t quote me on that part. Look up the tests though, it’s been declassified and is available for the public to see whenever they want to.
