Respect, I never dared to tear apart my beetle carbs, great job. On the other hand, we didn't have smartphones to document the disassembly 🙂, had no ultrasonic cleaner, or pressurized air at hand.

I believe you got the dull look on the carb body because Simple Green attacks aluminum. Pinesol does not. However, Pinsol will take off the zync plating from parts that are coated with it. From what I understand either Pinesol or Aircraft Simple Green is the thing to use on aluminum parts.

Carb looks to be in good shape. Did you forget to get the main jet out? Saw another head on the bench; what did you do finally?

Bought a rebuild head👍

Great video, very detailed. But I will say that I won’t dare to try it, too many little parts. Do you take orders in for a solex pict 30-1 rebuild?

Hey, a very helpful video, doing mine soon. What is the ultrasonic washer capacity ? It seems to fit everything. Cheers from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺

...how can you resist not getting the FJ to move under its own power? ...or at least put it in gear on jack stands to see if the trans/transfer case are okay
@Jerod_Helt4 жыл бұрын
It's easier to get excited about projects when the end is in site. The FJ is such a big project and the end is so far off. I will definitely get more excited and pick up speed towards the end of the project. Also I really don't like doing body work and that's the next big step on the FJ. Once I put the trans in I will have no more excuses to put off the body work👍
