About the Project:
Sunset City is a series based on the US state of Florida. Not just taking inspiration from the most iconic tourist destinations or glamorous beaches, Sunset City will focus on capturing the entire state from North to South. We will cover such cities as Miami, Tampa and Orlando, as well as some towns in between. Most importantly Florida's natural landscaping spanning from the tropical beaches to the vast wetlands of the Everglades.

You might already know, but just in case, Akruas discovered that you can use Move It to drag the outside connections anywhere on the map, or copy paste them anywhere. So no need for the long tunnel from the edge fog. BonBonB made a video about it too called "Tutorial - Magical Outside Connections". Excited for the series.

As a south florida native, I’m happy to see an expert C:S player recreating miami. The second tunnel you showed is actually the Henry E. Kinney Tunnel under the New River. If you’re looking for inspiration, I suggest the following places: Wynwood (Arts District), Brickell City Centre (Shopping/Office), Lincoln Road (Shopping), Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (Seminole Indian Land), Homestead (Farms). Also if you look at a map, all those aqua blue rectangles by the Everglades are open pit mines that got filled in with water.

I like how you make your city’s look realistic while still having a decent level of functionality. Unlike other City skylines KZbinrs who either only make a city for functionality or make a city just for looks

I made a island map by myself. I put down a ferry prop into the harbor so it looked like the cars coming out of the ship. That it is a little bit more realisitc i put some timed traffic light in the ship with a circle of about 30 sec. That looked pretty cool!

I love the Florida theme! Something interesting as a Florida resident that I think should be included in a project like this - and often isn't - is a old Spanish fort! Something like Dry Tortugas or Castillo De San Marco would go great on the many barrier islands, and bring a lot of both detail and history to a city.

You can copy how one looks on Google earth draw the main roads first and work starting from the bottom stack to the top then arrange them with move it. That's how I do them the more practice the easier it becomes.

Love the series already. just something i think i saw is: At the send interchange when you come down direction to the beach if you wanna go left there is no connection. Maybe it is on purpose but thats what caught my eye when you built it.

Pretty sure we just call the "small rivers" canals. Like when you said rivers in regards to florida I was like, "do we really even have those?" I'm sure we have some real ones, maybe, but yea, I grew up calling them canals. Never really heard them called rivers. Just an fyi, this map is amazing and makes me feel super nostalgic for Florida (moved elsewhere a few years ago).

You gotta add elements of the southwest coast of Florida too. Like fort Myers and Naples etc. moderately sized cities and sprawling gated communities with beautiful beaches and high rise condos and resorts like the ritz etc

Does Google Earth provide footage from 1980s Miami? Could be a better source to use as reference if it does, as there are many planning practices that are post-80s.

there is a tunnel across the english channel that connects the UK and france so a tunnel that connects outside the map wouldnt be bad

yes, but the channel tunnel has different geography to the area near florida, I believe that a tunnel near florida would need to be deeper, while there are shallow areas that ships cannot access there are also trenches Not familiar with the area but

You could use common ground mod even in the map editor. It will simply render terrain/roads as in game. It would make your life really a lot easier . I couldnt do map anymore without it
