Hey guys, this is my experience of flight NH855 from Tokyo Haneda to Jakarta in the Boeing 787-9 ANA business class. This was my first time flying long-haul with ANA in their business class - watch to find out why I found the experience more than lacking.

What is the backpack you use? Is it Peak Design? Looks nice.

JL’s amenity kit on this route was a sack-like pouch and not the style you showed which is one of two designs I received on JL’s longer flights to/from the US or Europe. Certainly prefer ANA’s seats to JL’s horrid regional business…and even its longer haul seats!

Sounds like both airlines are watering down the experience on lower priority routes. Disappointing but seems to be more common these days. Thanks for sharing, David!

I have flown on ANA in business class a few times, I don’t understand why you didn’t store your backpack in the overhead bins where it should’ve gone with your mattress pad, pillow and blanket. You didn’t seem to be satisfied with food. Never had an issue with food you complain about no amenity kit. When was the last time you used inside of the kit, I never have. You complained about the bed. The only thing that you didn’t complain about was the table. I enjoy fine ANA in business class, apparently this airlines is not for you

Hey Wayne, ANA undoubtedly has some fantastic business class products, include it’s THE ROOM seat. But this seat type is on the older side, so when pondering whether this seat is a good value (for me), I take that into account. Not everyone might share my thoughts or put the same weight on the same things as me, of course. In regard to the amenity kit, I actually use the kits on flights. I also love to use the toiletries kit from flights as my main kit when traveling. :)

Amenity Kits are generally crap these days. If it's a good one, great, but otherwise I already have a toothbrush and 1546 eye masks at home

That‘s a fair point, Nick. It definitely less of a „need to have“ thing but I still can‘t help but associate it with being an integral part of a great business class. But this might not be the case for everyone :)

@@unmatchedvoyages agreed Chris. They need to make it stand out. Be creative. There ain't much creativity in the airline marketing departments, only accountants.
