I gotta say I’ve never pieced together the fact that they exchanged droids after they got married. Very sad knowing what happens afterwards

Gosh I can’t wait for revenge of the sith. I think attack of the clones is severely underrated in Anakin’s development but episode 3 is certainly the climax of his story.

I'm really glad you brought up the "I am a slow learner" and "You'll find I'm full of surprises" comparison! I've always felt those lines are absolutely exemplary of "like father like son"

I love this series & your analysis! As for a character that could be analyzed next, I'd like to recommend R2.

Speaking of William Shakespeare… Fun Fact: The Star Wars Prequels are inspired by Macbeth.

Is Anakin's love for Padmé oedipal in nature? I always felt like that was what Lucas was implying, especially since Padmé sort of looks like a younger version of Shmi.

Why people not understand Romeo and Juliet? Even Lucas seems to understand Romeo and Juliet better than the majority of the audience, they aren't star crossed lovers, they were impulsive teenagers that they did the first thing in their mind without thinking about it, and like the Prince says at the end: "We are all Punished!!!", because everyone lose a love one because they didn't think about the consequences, hell, their "love" seems to be more lust, than love, and is the same thing with Anakin and Padme, you are confusing obsession with love, in case of Anakin, also he have massive mommy issues, he replace his mother with Padme, and in the case of Padme, she always says that she wanted a family outside her duties, and she had a chance to do so, and let not speak of their ideology, Padme is adamant believer of democracy and diplomacy, when Anakin is showing his fascist tendencies, in the deleted scenes and in the Clone Wars is in the side of Palpatine everything that he defied his own wife, and in case of Revenge of the Sith, when Palpatine is promoting the regional governors, something that Padme is really oppose to.
