They are, actually. It's half life 3 and left 4 Dead 3. But because source 2 can't handle overly complexities of their game at the time, it's cancelled. You have to play half life alyx final hour to see that.

@@wendy-gw6kx nothing wrong with that some things already had a clean design to need to alter it where just doing the design with more polys/textures is enough, while other elements were dated especially in hl1 low poly and such that artists had to work with and were limited by where it's obviously gonna look starker in comparison, doesn't mean it still isn't very faithful/cohesive just because it's improved...looks exactly how we imagined half life had looked through rose tinted nostalgia goggles/the result is exactly how we imagined a modern take today would look

Half Life 2 looks extremely impressive for a 2004 game, it came out even before consoles like the PS3 and Wii were released and still looks better than some games on those platforms.

Great comparison, though there a couple of things you missed. You forgot to include the EP2 version of the Advisor model. For the City Scanner, you compared it to Russell's modified drone, even though there's a normal version you could've used. Same for the Strider, which in this case is the construction variant instead of the normal one.

Para quien pregunta por que Gordon y Alyx en HL Alyx se ven horrible es porque en el juego, el modelo de Alyx sale solo en una escena, contretamente en el final, con una iluminacion muy discreta y a la vez, desde lejos y solo por unos segundos. Es por eso que el modelo en si, no está terminado, porque no se requiere mas trabajo como por ejemplo con G-Man o Russell o el mismo Eli Vance. Por tanto seria una perdida de tiempo modelarla al mismo nivel que los personajes mas recurrentes del juego, si solo va a verse de lejos y con poca luz. Lo mismo con Gordon.

Alyx looks fantastic, but some of the artistic designs of HL2 are superior IMO. The zombies in HL2 look much more nightmare-fueling with their blood soaked coat and cracked neck.

Este video no hace más que demostrar lo bestialmente avanzado que estaba Half Life 2 para el 2004. Es decir, si bien Alyx se ve superior en todo, al mismo tiempo el 2 se sigue viendo muy bien a día de hoy comparado con la última entrega y con los juegos que salieron ese mismo 2004 y posteriores (que los ves hoy y se ven muy mal). Un hito tecnológico y jugable en todo sentido.

Se podria decir que es atemporal. Si, en algunas partes como texturas y modelos si se ve que es de por ahi del 2004, pero en gameplay al ser relativamemte simple se sigue sintiendo bien al jugarlo. Podrias descargarte el Mmod para que el gameplay sea mas como lo seria un juego moderno (fisicas de balas reales, dispersion de bala, etc.)

No me extraña. En Hispanoamerica estan todos obsesionados con PS y las consolas. Como es un juego de PC que está pensado 100% para PC (aunque haya tenido ports a consolas) es como si no existiera, mientras que en los países angloparlantes, rusoparlantes y todo país que no se hable español, la saga es amada y venerada como se lo merece. Pero para el hispanohablante si no es un Call Of Duty, Fortnite, Minecraft o el FIFA de turno, entonces no existe o no debe ser tan bueno si no está en la consolita de turno.
