Actually I have heard of this story, I don’t know if It was a myth. But basically this little girl was lost in a forest or something and climbed up these stairs(I’m doing this from memory maybe I’ll edit this,) and then she went missing. I’m sure you can google It or search It on KZbin.

Theory:(warning: It might sound a bit like nonsense since I'm not the best at this) The stairs are portals that appear when our dimension interacts with another dimension, they normally appear in forests because that dimension has something to do with nature, or simply because the portals can hide better there than they can hide elsewhere due to the plants and stuff, and easier to avoid notice. Once you cross over to the other dimension there is no trace of you going there. The portal disappears and the stairs appear at random times so the appearances could be months or even decades apart. The portals have a quality that lures you to the other dimension and if the stairs appear to lead nowhere it is simply an illusion perhaps?

My theory is that stairs on the forest were probably forgotten art projects. Or like that one other guy had said. Maybe they are portals to other worlds related to nature in some way. Either way I find them oddly haunting. Decided to incorporate that to my ocs lore. These stairs when activated would spawn a door in top, leading to different locations, whether it be side missions or just fast travel. It can lead to buildings, different forest or biomes, maybe even a new world.

Okay, so I have a theory, it ain’t perfect but I guess it might do for now. So, the stairs were not stairs, but actually some entity/demon that took the form of them to trick humans. Of course, when the good people come, they disappear too. Someone in the beginning of the video says, “That’s where she disappeared”, according to that phrase, if you see someone disappear on the stairs, you’re less likely to, and if this wasn’t the case, they’d have been done for.
