I had the absolute pleasure of projecting some 16mm Tri-X. I'm very accustomed to *rather degraded* old color 16mm, and seeing such a sharp and crisp B&W image off of 16mm was incredible. It also ran better than anything I've ever run through that projector. So quiet and steady.

Nailed it again. I absolutely love home projection. Can’t get enough of it. Shooting TriX is a real treat. I usually shoot colour super 8 but I always forget how much I love black and white cine film. Cheers Noah.

One of the best ads for Squarespace I’ve seen yet. Tri-X is indeed magical stuff.

Genuinely appreciate how much technically redundant information that you included that you've been over before in other videos so that this is now a great one-stop destination for Tri-X information. Hoping to finally shoot some Super 8 stuff once my current (digital) short film is in the can and I've got a couple rolls of Tri-X to start out with. I primarily work with analog special effects and I'm really excited to shoot on celluloid - something about film grain makes miniatures look so much better compared to digital cinematography.

I’m learning so much from this channel-thank you. The look of Tri-X is great if exposed correctly.

Thanks to your channel I now have ordered a Minolta XL440 and a roll of Kodak 50D for an upcoming trip. Looking forward to trying this out.

Great video. Tri-X motion picture reversal film is great for checking cameras and lenses for exposure to project or get scanned. As mentioned, for exposure, you need to be more exact than negative film but the contrast and tonal range is excellent for this film. Not mentioned, you generally never want to project your *camera original* film as it will get damaged and better to get scanned or have a lab print made for projection.

Great video! I got a super8 camera at Goodwill a while ago and I really want to shoot it but I cant justify spending that kinda money. One day.

I shot Plus X before I tried Tri-X and I agree, it has a much nicer grain than Tri-X. I’m still bummed they discontinued it for Super 8. I did finally shoot some 16mm Plus X I had in the fridge for years and it looks great!

I'm hoping to see more super 8 support especially from Orwo, Agfa, and Ferrania in the coming years. I'd love to see what they could do with color negative and reversal stocks!

Ha! well what a coincidence I sent in my very first super-8 Tri-X footage to FPP today…this is the first fresh non test roll I shot. I used an Elmo 104.

I only got to have the joy of shooting 3 reels of Tri-x developed in Australia. Sadly, there is no longer a single lab in the country that can handle any form of reversal cine processing.

I like it but thanks to the lab we have here, they stopped doing it in reversal, instead as negative for “better latitude” which completely defeats the purpose of it being a reversal film. You end up with more grain as a negative too, and it forces you to get it scanned making it cost prohibitively more for a reversal film stock 🤷🏻♂️
