Alcaraz managed to defeat Novak at Wimby final at his first try when my man Federer could not do fcking three times. Alcaraz already proved at age of 20 that he has the iron mentality. Djokovic looked so focused and determined at 5th set as he always has been and it is so impressive Alcaraz won big points and did not choke against him.

Carlitos played his best (for now, he can even get better in the future) and I think he knew he could win this final, it was just a matter of HOW to win it. He never ever doubts himself, that shows with the drop shots in big moments and how he still did it in the next point even when the drop shot didn't go in. That, to me, shows just how strong he is mentally and just how much he believes in his skills. What's also crazy is that he seems to grow with every point, with every game, with every set. Instead of being worn down, he absorbs another ball of energy and adapt to the situation. He's amazing and he's only gonna get better. I hope he stays healthy for a long time! VAMOS, CARLITOS!

I was pulling for Djokovic to get his 24th Grand Slam, but young Carlos Alcaraz is one of these once-in-a-generation talents. As long as he stays healthy he's going to win many more Grand Slams. The kid is fire, he can overwhelm everybody with his power ground strokes from the baseline, especially his forehand, but he also has one of the best drop shots in the game, as well as being solid at the net.

Now what?? Alcaraz won freaking Wimbledon!!!! I've been saying it's just a cramp in Roland Garros. He did the impossible. Playing in his 4th grass tournament, he beats Novak in a final in 5 sets. He served it out like a champion. His least favorite surface against arguably one of the greatest ever grass court players. Losing due to a cramp on his favorite surface was a blessing in disguise. That defeat sparked fire in him. If he had won RG, he'd have not had that fire to defeat Novak here. The two points at 0-15 in the final game - a drop shot followed by a lob winner, and then a backhand stretched volley- my goodness. Novak didn't lose this, Alcaraz grabbed it with his hands. Vamos!!!!

The morning before the match my son and I had a friendly argument about who's going to win Wimbledon. I said Carlos is going to win because he is driven by wanting to be in that space where he is totally up against the wall and has very little chance of winning. The reason he WANTS to be there (unlike others who tense up in fear), he said is that this is the time he can show off his skills. Yup! A very wise young man because, luckily, because he has the right people around him.

He chokes sometimes byt it's not visible to some people. Look at his matches against Nadal on clay. Also some matches against Stan (only when in Stanimal mode). But other players are not as solid and not as talented as Novak. So he believes in himself and plays solid Tennis and wins percentage points. That's all. Now Alcaraz is someone who can stay with Novak shot-for-shot. And Novak could feel that pressure. That's why the nerves. Novak has a few patterns to win against Nadal on Grass and Hard. He has a few backhand patterns to win against Fed. But against Carlos, every point has to be earned. That is when you crumble. Also, Novak's least favorite shot is overhead. Everybody knows that.

I knew Carlitos had all the resources to win, and that ultimately it would come down to mental fortitude. Djokovic is one of the strongest minds we've seen in tennis, but today Alcaraz was stronger. The 5th game of the 3rd set, the one that went past the 26-minute mark, was telling. 13 or 14 deuces and 7 break points for Alcaraz until he finally took that 5th game. We cannot yet proclaim that the Reign of Terror has ended, but in a way Alcaraz has started to take revenge for the three or four lost generations that have suffered under the Three Monsters, even though there is only one of the Monsters active right now.

I’m surprised you’re surprised. He didn’t snatch the trophy. He was clearly nervous in the 1st set but anyone whose watched Alcaraz over the last couple of years would know that the match was far from over once he got confidence back in his shots and made Nole rally to win point. He stopped giving Nole free points after set 1 and made Nole win the points. Obviously this took some energy out of Nole. Carlitos, the new sheriff in town. 😂

One could say Novak could've played more aggressively in the 5th, but I think that would've led to more errors. Carlos just wasn't going to fold mentally today. The times where Novak was more assertive, Alcaraz changed his style of play and won his fair share of points. Beating Djokovic at his A+ form, while being a set down and and set point in a tie break just shows the mental toughness this kid has. Alcaraz was just the better player.

Wow what a match!!! The key moment in the Match no doubt was the 2nd Set Tie-Break where Carlos was actually down 0-3 and went on the win 5/6 next points which obviously changed the entire outlook !!! It was INCREDIBLE how Alcaraz was able to hold out during the 85 min 2nd set and the 27 min 3-1 game in the 3rd set. It was interesting to see Alcaraz's slices forcing Djokovic to generate his own pace created opportunities for Alcaraz to rip winners. Alcaraz's inside out forehand also was hugely important to open up the court. Some of Alcaraz's drop shots and volleys were ballsy and I audibly gasped during key moments he executed this. It truly is impressive to see someone so young like Alcaraz have such a complete game. This felt like a changing of the guard similar to Federer vs Sampras in 2001 and Federer vs Nadal in 2008. Well deserved win for Alcaraz!

The best match I've personally will ever see, Sort of has grains of Federer and Nadal in 2008 Wimbledon Final, The proven Grass Player walks in and is ready to roll, starts off well, the arguable Clay Courter starts off a bit slow but ultimately finds a way to get it done. What a match!!! The ups and downs, the momentum swings, both takes sets by demolishing for 30-40 minutes, then back again. The last set though, was beautiful, almost every shot was a winner. The match, I am for sure going to re-watch right now.

First time to watch Carlos play at Queens and thought what an amazing player he is. He had the benefit of watching Nadal, Federer and Novak play and he absorbed all their strengths subconsciously. You can only do that if you were born with talent combined with a competitive spirit. That is a big plus to his strength. He doesn’t fear the more accomplished opponent but take it as an opportunity to show he is just as good if not better. That is his mentality.

Carlos forced Novak to make those errors... Novak and his team underestimated Carlos and his team. Watching Carlos from the time he has started would tell everybody that this would not have been an easy match. I expected Sinner to give a better fight than that. Novak didn't have an answer for Carlos. I knew Carlos was going to win. He has variations in his game. Novak doesn't deal with those players easily.

Today's match was Epic and a literal battle for and of the ages. Djokovic is still very much in the mix but Alcaraz has ascended to the top spot and time is definitely on his side moving forward. It took a long time for a young phenom to emerge as the heir to the throne that the Big 3 Tennis Titans ruled upon for most of the last 20 years but that phenom has officially arrived in the form of Carlitos Alcaraz. I was very annoyed that he didn't let the ball bounce in the 5th set, 2nd game break point. Instead he went for a swinging volley and dumped it in the net....costly mistake for Nole. It might've been a different game if Nole was up 2-0 in the fifth. Credit to Carlos though...he pulled it off.

You're right about some of the key moments why Alcaraz beat Jokovic, one of them that Carlos frequently used is serving at the body of Jokovic which is very effective to any Alcaraz opponent including Jokovic because in that position it affects to Jokovic returnining position. Other aspects I've noticed is Carlos forehand and serving speed. He is also very aggressive and don't afraid taking risk on his return even some of them going to the net or going out but most of the time it's effective. I agree, body serve doesn’t give angles to hit winners or clean returns. Body serves sacrifices ace and more balls in play for the server but weaker replies of the returner. Djokovic is particularly good at hitting return at full stretch. It’s nice to see Alcaraz solve problems on court.

That is all there for the taking. There is nobody to play. Tsitsipas is not interested in improving. Ditto Berretini. Medvedev is content where he is at. That is evident in that gawd-awful volley he tried against you. Nothing's improved in Med's game. He may already be on a decline. Kyrgios is so screwed in the head he does not want a single slam in his singles Career. ditto Shapovalov and Raonic: The Canadians who refuse to win. Rune, Ruud, everyone else are light years behind and all indicators are that is where they will stay, judging by what every player has done in the last 40 years other than the Big Three. Now there is only Djoker to play for 3 years, maybe 4, maybe five. My fears: All that power in the forehand. How long will the shoulders, elbow and wrists hold up? Same for the torque and power in the legs. What of the hips, knees and calves? Nobody can move like you Kid. Not even Nadal. My final thought: I think Alcaraz was dead even with Novak in Roland Garros. I think he may well be best on a grass surface. Look at what he did to Tsitsipas, Berretini and Rune. He has improved a lot. If not training or talking strategy. He is studying tennis. 14,15, 16 hours a day, everyday. That's passion. But, one more thought: After all that has been said and done is anybody out there watching and wondering as the crowds move from loving Federer and Nadal to Carlos? From last video saying Novak was going to beat Alcaraz, saying it that easily.... confidence in your thoughts, but never let your feelings go that fast and secure about something, is unclear untill it happens. RG was a clear match that gave people the feeling of Novak beating him easily, but we dont stop and think, what will Carlos Alcaraz do now to stop that? Stop, silence, focus and walk out in Centre Court to give all his best. 1st set gave it all for Novak, 2nd set 0-3 in the tiebreak was an almost GSM word, but Alcaraz did not stop dreaming and fighting. Bad loser here. Why should he have won that tie break? Alcaraz could have played that tie break better also ... and first set, and if, if, if ... 2 sets up Djokovic could have lost, nothing guaranteed in this world, even less in tennis, and you are under estimating Alcaraz saying so. If Alcaraz plays like he's capable of he can win 3 straight sets against whoever (but won't say "no way" he can lose). Maybe Djokovic can't stand pressure when playing Alcaraz (swap names, and that's what Djokovites were telling about RG, and probably in first set of this one too).

I still think from there on, it will be very difficult for Djokovic to win a match or a final against Alcaraz in Slams. Because Alcaraz will only get better after this match, and so his confidence. I think it was a very close match, but maybe nerves from Novak in certain moments where he could have won those easy points cost him the match. If Novak stayed focused in the second set during the tiebreak when it seemed he was winning, the match could have ended most likely 3-0 for Nole. Anyways, great job for Carlos.

I was sure Alcaraz will win this final and I even bet on it. I was sure Alcaraz would win at RG, but he was just too uptight there which resulted in him cramping. Otherwise, the RG match result would have been the same. Alcaraz is just a better player. I predict Djokovic will never beat him again anywhere. To see all the people before this final who gave Djokovic the title even before the match started is laughable. This match proved how Djokovic got to 23 GS. No competition. He won half of 23 in the last 5 years when the competition has been more or less a joke. Now that a generational player has arrived who is better and can stand toe to toe with him, we can see that the level of the rest of the tour is just low. Alcaraz's rise will help others of his generation raise it up a notch. It did for Rune and Sinner and occasionally for Musetti. In my opinion, Djokovic will not win any other GS moving forward, if Alcaraz and Rune for example, are playing in that respective tournament. Both of them beat Djokovic twice now on 2 surfaces. Alcaraz is the favorite and will win the USO as well in my opinion. Djokovic won his 2 slams this year because Alcaraz got cramps on one tournament and was not present in the other. It's also nice to see all those toxic Djokovic fans get their well deserved slap in the face.

Most people, even if they watched the match, don’t realize that Djokovic could have won. Alcaraz played brilliant. He is amazing. But Djokovic had his chances to win this match. It was very very close. Djokovic is 36 now and he played a 5 hours match against a 16 years younger athlete. His body is not yet the limiting factor. Djokovic lost because of his nerves and because Alcaraz played brilliant. But Djokovic was on the same Level.

so agree with you on the younger players just folding in the finals of slams and the French open Stefanos collapse in 2021 and the theim even worse collapse in the Aussie open 2020 jump out plus I felt federer chocked in out in the 2019 Wimbledon final and let Novak win that final when he should have taken it.... but back to the younger generation, I also think Casper rudd has really not shown in those two French open finals so nadal and novak have had an easier time as of late with these younger players in masters as well.
