My english is not the best but I hope you will understand me 🙂 Nadal had a lot of problems with injuries. 2014/2018/2020 Nadal was not fast as 2005/2006 Nadal. But his lefty serve and top spin was to much for 95% players on the tour and "old" and slow Nadal reached finals of big tournaments. But that wasn't enough to beat Djoković who was always in much better psychical condition than Nadal (exclude Rome final, Novak was tired after 2 long matches). Nadal couldn' hurt Novak's backhand with his top spin,Novak easy returned Nadal's serve and Rafa had no stamina to grind him. Same situation with Novak now. He is old but his high percentage of precise first serves ( 120mph serves, 70% first serves made),long and precise but not that fast groundstrokes are enough to beat 95% guys on the tour but that's not enough to beat Alcaraz. Alcaraz returns a lot of that 120 mph serves and he can attack Novak balls with forehand and backhand.

It's completely bizarre how many spiteful comments are being hurled at him. He objectively and factually explained his position and stated why, in his opinion, Alcaraz will win. Does one have to share his opinion? Of course not! But somehow, nowadays, everyone is labeled a hater when they express their opinion, even if it is backed up with factual arguments. The impact of lowered inhibitions on the internet crowd is frightening and a factual discussion is no longer possible - even on less serious topics like sports.

HOLY SHIT CHILL OUT COMMENTS! I understand you have favorites for who to win, but don’t disrespect the opposing player. If you want Djokovic to win don’t hate on Alcaraz the guy is 21 and has won a major on all three surfaces and is the youngest to do so. That deserves respect. If you want Alcaraz to win don’t hate on Djokovic, the guy has done what barely any tennis player in the whole world had achieved and dreampt of of it as bombs flew through the sky, that also deserves respect. Just respect both players. You can have a favorite for who to win but please stop trying to drag others down for your own personal preference. It’s selfish and disrespectful. Edit: the reason I’m saying Alacaraz gets hate is because he does, overall he is loved I agree with that but he still gets hate. I’ve recently seen like an entire cult just dedicated to hating Alacaraz, especially on Reddit.))

Great post Stephen. I’ve also noticed a different swagger with Carlitos this year. I wanted him to win last year but wasn’t confident because of Djokovic’s record. After the first set it didn’t look good. But when he won that second set I became more confident he would and he did in five although Djokovic made crucial mistakes in that final which were pivotal to the outcome. This year I’m looking at a more stronger, confident and I’ll say it BIGGER Carlos on the grass after winning the French Open not playing his best tennis and beating both Sinner and Zverev in five sets after being down 1-2 in both. He comes here after playing three intense matches against Tiafoe, Humbert and Paul and finds a way to win and still not hitting peak Carlitos. Djokovic on the other hand hasn’t really been tested and had a “bye” in the quarter final and Musetti was a foregone conclusion. This will be his real test against Carlitos and deep down he realises this. Carlitos to win in four sets due to his lapses in concentration during a match but finds a way to win in the end.

What you just wrote doesn’t explain why somebody will win in the final. Nobody knows who will win in the final. Can we just enjoy the match and greatness of both players without picking sides! But, I also remember what the wins in 2019 Wimbledon, 2021/2023 French Open and 2020/2021/2023 Australian Open Finals felt like. @@pauljohnson6019 if it wasn't for the momentum shifting warning in the tiebreak of the second set at like 6-6 from the umpire fergus murphy (he could have warned djokovic way earlier but decided to warn him in crucial moment on purpose) he would have won last year hadn't that momentum shift happen and also his unusual misses in the net and the shockingly missed driving forehand/volley on the high ball (that ball was also probably out xD bad judgment from nole there) in the 5th , if you actually watched and analysed last year final you would see that a better version of alcaraz on fire last year barely won which is crazy in itself, it simply wasn't djokovic's day that sunday last year at all unsual misses and wind + physical issues out of breath because he didn't prepare as he should have because he didn't know carlos could do this now this year he knows, this year he (carlos) got better but is not in the same all time form and on revenge like last year (carlos after the RG cramps) so i really believe djokovic could do what hasn't been done : beat carlos in a grand slam final (nobody goes unbeaten in finals he's human also so at some point he will experience losing finals it's bound to happen).

He will have Joker running around even though Joker is the best defensive and consistent to ever place a hand on a racket, he's 37.. NOT 27. Nevermind his mindset and piles of Slams...he is nearing the end of his career and just because he's made it to the finals again doesn't mean he will win it all. He's had an easy run and was not really pushed. He will manhandle Novak and make him run all over the court with his placements and aggression. I'll say it again..Carlos in 4, nuff said! These are my thoughts and I also have a video on this great final. Summarised below; Serve Novak Djokovic: Consistent and reliable first serve. Effective at placing serves in difficult spots for returners. Strong second serve, reducing the number of double faults. Carlos Alcaraz: Powerful first serve with high speeds. Improving accuracy and placement. Still working on consistency compared to Djokovic. Edge: Djokovic for reliability and placement. Return Novak Djokovic: Widely regarded as one of the best returners in tennis history. Excellent at neutralizing powerful serves. Carlos Alcaraz: Quick reflexes and improving return game. Effective against most opponents, but not yet at Djokovic's level. tad bit below. hairline maybe....... Edge: Djokovic for experience and skill. Net Game Novak Djokovic: Solid net play with good touch and anticipation. Comfortable finishing points at the net. Carlos Alcaraz: Aggressive net player with strong volleys. Continues to develop this aspect of his game. Edge: Djokovic for experience, but Alcaraz for potency Feel Novak Djokovic: Great feel for the game and can adapt to various styles of play. Excellent at reading the game and making adjustments. Carlos Alcaraz: Natural feel for the game, showcasing flair and creativity. Still learning to handle different pressures. Edge: Alcaraz for adaptability. Mental Strength Novak Djokovic: Proven mental toughness in high-stakes matches. Ability to come back from difficult situations. Carlos Alcaraz: Strong mental game for his age but still gaining experience. Shown resilience in challenging matches. Edge: Djokovic for extensive experience. However Alcaraz has recency bias so maybe a DRAW ? Forehand Novak Djokovic: Consistent and reliable forehand. but still as potent? hmmmmmmmmmm Excellent at constructing points with his forehand. Carlos Alcaraz: Powerful and aggressive forehand. Capable of hitting winners from various positions on the court. Edge: Alcaraz for power, but Djokovic for consistency. Backhand Novak Djokovic: One of the best backhands in the game. Highly reliable and can generate both offense and defense. Carlos Alcaraz: Strong two-handed backhand. Effective but still developing consistency. Edge: Djokovic for reliability and versatility. Offense Novak Djokovic: Balanced offensive game. Capable of turning defense into offense. Carlos Alcaraz: Aggressive and powerful offensive play. Excels in dictating points and hitting winners. Edge: Alcaraz for sheer aggression Defense Novak Djokovic: Exceptional defensive skills. Ability to retrieve difficult balls and turn them into offensive opportunities. Carlos Alcaraz: Strong defense but not yet at Djokovic’s level. Good at counterattacking. Edge: Djokovic for exceptional defensive capabilities. Movement Novak Djokovic: Excellent court coverage and movement. Known for his flexibility and ability to reach difficult shots. Carlos Alcaraz: Quick and agile with impressive court coverage. Continues to improve his movement. Edge: Alcaraz Overall I give it to Alcaraz. hes the defending champion. He knows he can defeat Djokovic in a slam FINAL. Hes also won the most recent slam. If he plays at his best and Djokovic plays at his best, Carlos best will trump as his best is higher level than Djokovic's best. When was the last time Djokovic won against a top 10 player? HE WILL WIN !

A Djokovic win would also tie Federer's 8 Wimbledon wins. My odds for winning are 60% Alcaraz, 40% Djokovic. Alcaraz is a phenom. He will have plenty of time to break Djokovic's all time major record but many of us want to pull Djokovic over the finish line. To be fair, he could've already had more than 25 major wins, if he controlled his temper at the 2021 US Open and if he were vaccinated. I disagree. How can Djokovic’s lack of movement be the deciding factor that he will lose the match? His movement has never been his weakness. It’s absurd! Doesn’t Djokovic have more than a 3% edge in mental toughness over Alcaraz? Djokovic has a 3-2 win advantage over him. It’s a disadvantage to be the reigning champion because the pressure is higher. Why does the west continue to doubt him after proving to the world he is the best and he should ALWAYS be favored in a final! Gooooooooooood night!
