Just letting you know two years later, you can get everything for the 1911 and the Sammy after the junkyard. The drum for the 1911 I believe is in a sewer near the firestation, it’s actually closer to the bus that’s on the shore but the big landmark there is the firestation.

letsplaygames:D at least one of the best triage emergency rooms is a very short distance. I spent the night at my friends house once and woke up to him screaming for my help because his neighbor snuck up on him in a drug rage and started stabbing him. From the moment 911 was called within a 15-20 minuet span a flight for life picked him up,got him to harborview and surgeons started working on him. I was really impressed and feel extremely blessed to live somewhere where ES doesn’t take an hour to get to you.

I personally like the fact that Sam is comical one liner spewing US Marine. The whole of Metro characters are cliches. The tough as nails old Spetsnaz commander, silent protagonist who in the beginning is an ordinary guy destined for something greater, Duke the young hotshot, Alyosha the ladies man, etc. I love everyone of them.

I want to correct you on two errors you made. You can leave the car junkyard battle area if you loop around hard left. Another error you made, if you listen around a lot and snooped around, you'd find out that the reason for all the mines was because arms ships got caught up in the tsunami's that occurred when the bombs fell. As you should know, the bombs never hit Vladivostok, they landed in "a perfect line" in the ocean. So to reiterate, the mines are from the tsunami washing all kinds of shit from ships onto the land. I do agree they were hyper annoying though. The damn indicator you got on your arm is hyper less reliable compared to a standard low end detector from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. You can't even tell how close or far things are on it. You are also correct there are lots of areas to get locked in tho, the gasmask segment confused me because by the time I reached the bandits, I already knew that I was to reach the next chapter thingy, to which came my surprise of the gate some reason being closed. Locking me off from the uncharted North you exactly explained. While I'm writing, I do agree the end was kinda lack luster but I get it. You can't show much of America because that means lots of new assets. I'm just happy we caught a glimpse at the very least.

I understand why some people would not like how sams story doesn’t have the same depressing feeling that metro is known for, but I think it was actually good. The way I see it is that the general way the game feels is more upbeat because of the context of the setting and characters. When you played as artyom in the metro it felt depressing because he had lived his whole life there and believed the metro was all there was, but Sam is a different person. He knows what life was like before the world got nuked, and is filled with hope that he can now see his family again. He has a different outlook on life than artyom and it shows in how he experiences the world differently.

Good review, i wish you could do new game plus for this like in the base game. Also there's actually a note you can find that explains the mines, it was from a guy that scattered them throughout the area to deal with the mutants. Another thing too is that you can actually go back to the previous area after the junkyard batwing fight by just sticking to the left after leaving the arena next to the big bloodstain. Really hope the next game brings us back to the metro and that we can see more of khan, i missed him

Personally I’m glad we got a story dlc with Sam, I feel like the main campaign didn’t do him enough justice as we didn’t get to spend enough time with him as we did with the others. Plus its actually nice to have someone engage with the npc’s and respond to the environment unlike Artyom. Who just sits there while everyone blabs on and on and on. Plus its always nice to hear Steve Blum at work. Man’s got a voice.

I still enjoyed it despite its flaws. There is one thing that worries me though. The author of the series stated that he was finished writing books about metro. He did give the developers of the game the go ahead to continue the story in whatever way they wish. I just hope that the writing and atmosphere of future metro titles wont suffer because they cant use any materials from any books. Still highly enjoyed sams story.

It was an incredible DLC but I hope that it's not the last. There are a lot of possibilities. You could have Krest's life in Astrakhan before he met the train crew... You could have Duke and/or soneone else making their way back to the Metro to inform the people. You could have Damir going back to Kazakhstan or Alyosha helping Olga and the Pioneers find somewhere new. There are a lot of stories to be told. You could even have something taking place before, during, and right after the nuclear war.

I'm a little surprised Jarek got stuck after the Boss fight in Junkyard because there's two paths to the left, one leads to a car depot and the other leads back towards the beginning of the junkyard(like right before you enter it). But I will say that it took me a while to figure out that some spots you can backtrack and others were never meant visited in the first place. Also yeah, the need for gasmasks was a pain in the ass and if you're playing the highest difficulties and you're lacking supplies, you're practically screwed. I liked Sam's story, but I wish there was more to each ending. I think the new AK-like weapon was supposed to be an AK-12 or at least resemble it.

The "Galil Ace" is basically an AK-12. They say in-game it's a modified AK-74, which the AK-12 basically is in real life. Plus it looks very similar to an AK-12

Metro is still mainly a book series. Gluchovskij made from Metro a giant novel project to which quite a few Russian authors (some were translated into Polish) contributed and each one of them is quite different... But it's the same as Stalker, hugely popular in Russian speaking countries with more than 20 novels... So that different feel is actually interesting for some.

Read about the new dlc the day it came out. I like how it includes two new weapons. Makes sense that Sam uses an M1911, but a Galil Ace?! He’s a US Marine, why is he using an Israel rifle? As he was an embassy guard, he should have had either an M-16 or M14.

Played Sam's story last night and getting locked out of part of the map happend to me aswell. I found it pretty annoying because I ran out of filters too and you have to go sometime need your gas mask, so no filters is a massive setback in this DLC. Still loved it tho

I've only been playing this DLC For just over 2 hours, but so far it seems like an incredibly linear "open world map". Sure the map is big but who cares when it's literally designed around taking the player from one location to another in what is essentially a straight narrow corridor with very little room for exploration or deviation from where the game is obviously funneling them.

Great video and I like sam story but I do not get the ending of blowing up the Submaire as we know from real-world Tom can never use the nuclear missile as he would need the 4 to 5 nuclear lunch keys so there is no need to blow up the submarine. As it's going be hard for tom to get 4 to 5 keys to use nukes and then he needs to know right latitude and longitude before they can fire after putting keys in.

I'm not in the marine corps but they have a reputation for ferocity and esprit de corps that's unrivaled. They have a certain tenacity with regards to fighting. If I pay for a game I want to see the end of game, this shit in games and movies just gets into my nerves, if the whole game is about going back to find one person (your father) then I want to see this person, it's just lame, it's another thing to let you know that he continued fighting, or he is seeing his friends, or seeing him stay with the submarine, I want to see him hug his father, is like having the protagonist and the antagonistic at gun point, the screen goes black mad you wear a gunshot, and then it ends, it's just frustrating

Could have been a great game with lots of re-playability, like the flawed masterpiece before it, Stalker. Sadly like every other entry in the series, it's an immersive but overly linear spectacle that's fun to play through the first time, and you only realise after you finish just how much more potential it could have had. Honestly if they weren't gonna make it FULLY open world, they should have kept it linear- More like the forest segment. The open world segments we got were frustrating cock-teases that only ever frustrated, always dragging you off somewhere else just as you started to have fun. Like, the game just couldn't make its mind up what it wanted to be.

At the very end the Stealth Mode is essentially disabled and you're forced into a Hollywood gunfight. I never even bothered finishing it. Everything about Sam annoyed me, he's totally at variance with the Metro style. To be honest, I don't agree with Jarek about who Sam is for. I think Sam is for the US market right down to his M1911, Tommy Gun and clichéd one-liners that make you want to pull your hair out. The best thing about this DLC is that Sam won't be around for any expansions of Artyom's story.

Yeah the fight didn’t seem like Metro really, nor did it seem anything at all like the laid back, introverted Sam from Exodus who always seemed kind of melancholy; beaten down from the world like everyone else. When he was arrogantly yelling at the guys and trying to fight them off, it didn’t seem like the same guy at all. Nor was it smart- He could have died fighting that many guys, but instead of try to talk them down he just started swinging like an idiot. I like your idea that it was them pushing the American stereotype, I think that makes sense. Steve Blum did a really good job in the main game just speaking softly. Hearing the Blum yell like in COD zombies was jarring

Just finished this a couple of days ago myself and was really interested to see what others thought of this DLC. I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the feel of the game being about what Russians think of Americans. I played the game with Russian audio as my wife is Russian, I've been to Russia with her, and I do speak some Russian. I'm also from Socal so I know what we sound like trying to speak Russian, and the Russian version of Sam is just awful. His "accent" is totally made up and worse, when he tries to speak English, you can tell the voice actor has never spoken English in his life. Even my wife was laughing at how ridiculous Sam pronounced certain words in Russian. The same goes for Tom. In any case, all of it points to exactly what you were saying in that it's meant for Russians more than Americans. I mean seriously, the ending where he is standing on the sub looking at the Golden Gate Bridge when San Diego is still 500 miles further south is hilarious. Anyway, no disrespect meant towards the developers, but in the end, this DLC wasn't worth the wait. And that damn beeping watch. Thank god it's over.

There's one submarine with no one left to fight it. In no possible way would a nuclear war start again. One sub does not have that many nukes. The story absolutely did not fly over my head. It's just written poorly.

Not a fan of this DLC the story was pretty weak and the open-world parts... More linear in my opinion. A lot of graphical bugs especially and some graphical assets just seem lazy done. Polish is just worse than the main game. RTX bugs with debris. For some reason, debris cast their own light and just becomes a noisy mess. The storm aspect with the radiation rain?! totally not necessary.
