With all these hearings, I am afraid that the US is still not as bullish as it should be with China. Why are Chinese companies allowed to buy prime farmlands and especially within close proximity to military sites. Why US companies wanting to operate in China must partner with Chinese companies but Chinese companies don't have to do the same when operating in the US. China is not just catching up to the US using unfair and illegal practices but in some cases well ahead.

Chinese expansion and growing influence, with a goal of becoming the premier world power is not an intrinsic or direct threat to US national security. The agressive reactionist tone of the American political class really appear as alarmism at having to compete in a situation where they might not prevail. The prospect at being supplanted doesn’t seem like legitimate fear of a threat, but insecurity at not being the biggest, best and most powerful.
