Hi Julius, thank you for the informative video! If we combine to concept of User Properties and userID tracking, how would you suggest to track the registration funnel or the login page itself? As the identifier (userID) is not passed yet, what would be the best way to attribute user propoerties for the traffic before the login as well as after the login? Thank you inadvance!

Great video, very concisely explained! I plan on using this to do simple A/B test analysis by attaching a test group id to the user so I can segment them in the exploration tools. Not sure if this would be best practice, but do you see any problems or anti-patterns with this approach?

Hi Julius, do you need to create the custom event type of userData first?
@AnalyticsMania Жыл бұрын
Not necessary

So, if I apply for the user custom dimension but the user didn´t log in, this will not work? I mean, it is a specific requirement? And in that case, will be treated as an event scope?

Should something like, "emailSub" a boolean variable which refers to true or false be sent as user property or event parameter ?

during minute 12:24 of the video, there is a dropdown where it shows Custom (User-Scopped), however i am not seeing that option in the drop down, has GA4 changed its UX?

@@AnalyticsMania have you noticed a gap in user reporting. we have the integration in place, seeing data on preview mode as well as debug view but on the reporting front it only shows data for about 2/3 of the events. Is this a common probelm which you have heard? And if yes, whats the fix, or is it a GA4 bug?

Please, a video talking about custom dimensions for articles. I have done a thousand tests and can't seem to understand how it works.

I am really struggling because the persistence you describe starting at the 14-minute mark simply isn't happening. We have been doing extensive testing of this, and the user properties are only correlatable with the events where they are explicitly set in that beacon/hit. For example: Hit #1: page_view event with up.loyalty_status=gold Hit #2: view_item_list event Hit #3: select_item event Hit #4: add_to_cart event Hit #5: purchase event When I pull Event Name into Explore with metric of Event Count and then add a secondary dimension of the user-scoped custom dimension associated with up.loyalty_status, I get: EVENT NAME | LOYALTY STATUS | EVENT COUNT page_view | gold | 1 view_item_list | (not set) | 1 select_item | (not set) | 1 add_to_cart | (not set) | 1 purchase | (not set) | 1 The user property value is NOT being automatically applied to subsequent hits; they all have a value of "(not set)". It appears to behave exactly like event parameters / event-scoped custom dimensions. Do you think we're just misunderstanding how Google intended this to work? Or is this a very serious defect?

I vote for defect

We have faced same issues and we see no solutions currently. Did you find a way to make it work? Analytics Mania, did you see it actually working in reports?

I have the same issue. Drives me nuts, testet my setup for hours, but glad I found out I am not the only one.

Hi Julius, Great videos. I have a question that I can't figure out. I'm using GA4 directly on my site (not GTM). In GA4, I activated Enhanced measurement several days ago. In reports-events, I don't see Outbound clicks (only page_view, session_start, first_visit, user_engagement, and scroll). I know there have been linked clicks. Do you know why don't I see the clicks? Do I need GTM? Thanks.

Hello Mr.Julius! Thank you so much for sharing these amazing tutorials. I have a request, please! Could you make a quick video on how to Track Social Share Buttons? To know if visitors share my blog posts. Thanks

Hi Julius, thanks for the video. I have setup a single page application where users have to login to use the product. I have setup everything according to your video. Our user properties are called crm_id and client_id. They show up in the GTM debug view and also at the GA4 Analytics DebugView under User Properties. I also have created custom dimensions "User Scope". Still after 5 days in the reports crm_id and client_id are "not_set". Do I need to wait until user properties show up in the dropdown in the custom dimensions? I did not do that and created the user scope custom dimension before they were implemented. Maybe this is a problem? Do you have any idea what might be wrong?

"Quick" question! How can we create custom dimensions in Google Analytics 3 based on types of users? (Admin, editor, etc) Thanks!
