Wow @AfrikanHairGod she was my stylist when I first relocated. I was relaxed at the time. She put a phyto relaxer on my shoulder length hair and it didn’t take so this lady told me I needed a full haircut since it didn’t take the relaxer that meant my hair was too damaged. I was only 20 and didn’t know better so I agreed and she gave me a short Halle Berry pixie cut. I continued to go to her for about a year and each time my hair grew, she recommended a trim. I stopped going to her and went natural. I am glad you’re highlighting her work tho, it’s been a long time coming

@@FairlyWellDarlingI’m wondering this too. I’m too far from his shop and my car is too old to drive there, but I’d love to do a virtual consultation. I’ll pay just to learn more about what products and techniques I can use on my hair and I don’t trust anyone else in my state 😭😭

I went to this stylists last year for a curly cut and explained that I wanted to keep my bra strap length. Well by the time she was done my hair was shoulder length and knew I made a major mistake. I will never go to her again. Afterwards I realized that a curly cut is not for me. The ends looked scraggly.😢

Seems like so many stylists have a generic approach to hair- 1 dimensional. What I like about AfrikanHairGod is that he is analytical, he literally diagnosis and recommends a strategy.

Without boring everyone with the full details, I had my hair trimmed every 3 months for a year and I STILL had split ends every 3 months, losing length with each trim. I gave up! I will live with my split ends. I am at peace with it.

Cosmetology school is in the business of training "Stylist" in a " one- size fits- all" type manner. As you stated they aren't teaching " haircare". Textured hair requires the haircare aspect to be healthy. And it doesn't fall under a one- size -fits all category. A lot of these stylists lack the knowledge it takes to maintain HEALTHY textured hair, and sadly choose not to educate themselves. Unfortunately we, as paying clients suffer in the long run. The issue is too many Stylists, that aren't Hair Care Professionals.

I’m a white woman, and because of you and watching your channel, I now only get my hair trimmed every six months. I do not have a lot of split ends, yet my “stylist” recommended I get my hair trimmed every two months. It is such a scam- I check my ends and I just don’t need trims that often. PS I don’t know why what you said caused that hairstylist to melt down. You just commented on what you saw🤯🤯🤯🤯

29:34 I feel attacked 😢 I was just asking how to tell the difference more so at the mid shaft. Looking at the thining, it seemed more concentrated at a point slightly below where you cut. Because I don't know better, I would have assumed the place the cut was at the point around the last 1/3 of the twist. thanks for explaining it.

Is it me or are a lot of these stylists he features in his videos a bit sexist towards him? Like they get mad ignore what he’s saying to them and blocks… its really weird… it’s like they are not showing him the same amount of respect that they would give to female stylist.. Am I reaching? Their behavior when he tries to correct them is so off to me…

In a sense, I can see that. I think it more that they have the personal experience of their own hair everyday, so it is difficult to hear someone say they are doing things wrong? I don't know of that makes sense, but I also get defensive due to that. And in all fairness, the language he often uses toward these women has been considered sexist in the past. Not to say that it should be tit for tat but there is a dynamic here, for sure.
