Then along come some people who haven't been here for the last decade who are not cosmetologists and who do not deal with only natural hair trying to shade him. Narada is a natural hair specialist so any time I see anyone criticizing him, I go look and to see how many years they have been in the youtube/natural/salon/hair business and they cannot compare. I no longer have the mental capacity to argue with idiots...plus it's light entertainment to watch other people do it while I wait for the washing machine to stop or while I'm deep conditioning my hair.

I’m going to make a video on this soon. People don’t actually want long hair. They want to be perceived as healthy. They want to be perceived as mentally stable and capable of getting their shit together. But they aren’t and can’t. We all need therapy. Let’s just start there. It’s okay to not be okay. Let’s heal from the inside and then your outside will reflect that.
@Spokentruths725
@Spokentruths725 Жыл бұрын
As a clinician i approve this message. I say this all the time that actual healing takes work from the individual and thats why so many think therapy is pointless. I even know stylist as well who say they want to improve on their craft yet they don’t even try.
@Sweetpea3051
@Sweetpea3051 Ай бұрын
Stylists and barbers similar to therapist hear soooooo much of the daily issues from clients. Honestly there is an aspect of processing they should do for self but also due to the amount of people engagement in deeply intimate settings. Touching someone’s hair, gaining their trust, and being responsible for such an important function, they also hear allllllll the tea…can get heavy. Way to go for calling out self care and heading translating into being the best one can be.

Narada, Im typing this before watching the video, but just want to say… I went to a highly rated natural hair salon for the first time ever a few weeks ago (I’m a guy with 4c hair), and the stylist literally ripped half of my hair (that I’ve been growing for 2 years) out my scalp. Literally was hearing each strand, like hundreds, popping… and then she gave me horrible looking twists that weren’t even uniform. As soon as I got back home I immediately took the the twists out. The next few days my hair felt so damaged that I went to the barber and had him cut it all off. I don’t even have the patience or energy to grow it out anymore. I now understand why so many black women with 4c hair who go to certain stylists have trouble growing it. I had no issues growing my hair before that happened.

Sorry that happened to you....We all need a Narada in our local area. My trichologists are black and mixed race but my stylist is Maori/Polynesian. They all have curly hair. My stylist got dread extensions and he came back and said my scalp hurt so much and I think I lost some hair when I took them out. I laughed and said see why I don't wear extensions regularly. Lol! I just shave the sides and back into a Mohawk and I legit don't miss it. The top and middle are enough work for me.....Less detangling!!

There are a lot of insecure weirdos that actually have a fetish for long hair period. Doesn't matter if it's thinning, clearly breaking off and different lengths. They just don't seem to care. Anytime they see a bit of length being cut off they get in their feelings, because they don't care about healthy hair they just want some length. I think she is mad weird for bringing up your eczema. As a sufferer myself it annoys me to no end. You're a phenomenal hairstylist and I actually learned something new from that video. Her hair turned out great as expected and I know she left happier than she came in otherwise she wouldn't have agreed to cut a few inches off. 3 inches is nothing to someone with long hair. It's not that big of a deal when it comes to the health of the hair.
@Mother-of-cain

The blk community considers having long hair a status symbol , blk girls recognize this very young and it dwells in them well into adulthood. The amount of blk women who won’t trim their ends is dramatic to me but It’s a trauma response. I wish they would realize that they are beautiful even if they are short haired or even bald. I’m no repunzal but I’ve had many women get triggered by me getting a haircut, it’s like they live vicariously through women with long hair and get triggered when they see it being cut because they couldn’t imagine someone with something they covet throwing it away. I hate seeing beautiful women stress about their hair.

Any one remembers Rio relax system. If I can remember correctly but not sure they had use Debbie Allan from the show Fame. I want to live forever, I want to learn how to fly, hey, Fame. To pedal that relaxer to African Americans😂 The FDA shot them down real real quick. When she said relaxer jacked up her hair that was the first thing that went in my head😂 If someone wants to spend a $1,000 on a wig and then an additional $500 to have it installed Knowing they are going to lose their edges in the process and still do it, that's their choice, and the same for anyone that wants to get a silk press that is also their choice. Your clients also have just as much rights to sit in your chair for that 3rd option. They don't want to lose their edges and they don't want their hair fried to a crisp. It is their choice to sit in your chair. Don't make these petty people try to get under your skin. Keep on doing what you are doing because your clients hair are thriving. And most of all they are not complaining. It's the people that are peeping over the fence. Don't waste another minute of your time on self hating people.

it's clear by the way she is "speaking" in the video, she does not have the mental capacity to comprehend the true purpose of your video or any of them for that matter. For her to come for your eczema was a HUGE NO NO for me because I have dealt with that all of my life and doing what we love keeps it compromised but that is for us to deal with and not to be judged by. I could not take her voice much longer it was making me nauseous, lol. But seriously, I started watching your videos just recently and I take notes. I think a lot like you when it comes to the maintenance of HEALTHY hair over long hair and I have been preaching this since cosmetology school in 1998. Your videos are very informative and you take the guess work out of a lot of these new techniques that we are starting to see more and more of. You also do not mind giving your honest opinion on many of the products as well and because of you, I have stayed away from many and embraced others. There are a lot of services, like you, I just simply prefer not to do. like that meme says, "get somebody else to do it" and mean no harm by that either. Keep doing what you are doing and those that get it "GET IT", and those that don't (in my late great grandmother's voice) "bless their little hearts" !!

Thank you always for these videos. You have been an educator for me with my hair since 2010. I think it's something in the water how people don't like to listen or can listen anymore (I think it's the attention span and all these images and videos popping on timelines on social media). Any who.... I am intersted to how did you come up with this method? Was your client with the grey hair the first time you recorded this technique?

Great question.... I just knew how to look at natural hair and see the thinning.... I knew that my clients wouldn't be able to see their hair thru the same lens as I do I had to consider a way to show it to them. I think first did it on a client before and after doing a trim to see how it compared. When I saw the difference the light bulb went off. If you are holding the ends then ask the other hair that isn't gripped is going to slide back and that indicates what percentage of your hair is truly getting cut and reaching the ends.

@@AfrikanHairGod ahhhhh ok!! thank you for explaining further. I am always interested in how people's thought processes on things (hair, make-up, theories, game strategies, opinions). Since you are one of the many OGs with hair care, I am always interested how you see hair from your experience and opinion.

😂 that lady sound like scrapp’s mom Karen King from Hip hop Atlanta!😂💀 ANYWAYS! Lol The push back test is a genius technique Narada. I never understood the concept of “stylists” who put heat on the hair just to see the damage, because what if the heat applied caused more damage than before. And your technique accommodates people who don’t want heat in their hair and you allow them to have that option without an argument like most of these “stylists” in these streets. I like how you provide services requested and recommendations as needed. I feel like stylists get mad at you, because your quality of your work speaks for its self and they are low key envious of your creative techniques, because not only does it makes sense to you, but actually makes sense to the clients as well. A lot of these self titled hair gurus start applying heat and cutting hair without really explaining why it’s necessary, and I think because it isn’t--they just can’t deal with kinky hair. Yes I said it 😂 the shade! 😂
