As a male victim of Dv and SA, its so hard watching her on the stand. I was laughed at, mocked by cops and told ''to man up, she's just a woman.'' She broke my ribs, gave me a conussion, the SA was so frequent and detrimental that I have permenant internal damage and scars to show for it. In fact, it angers me to watch her. It took almost two years of therapy to even be able to shower alone without dealing with CPSTD flashbacks. To watch her sit on the stand and lie (IMO she's a liar) makes me sick. As victims/survivors of SA/DA we deserve to be heard, instead of mocked, feeling like we need to hide and lie about whats going on.

for her to be an 'ambassador' of women's rights who have gone thru the hell that is DV and IPV and have the GALL to call herself that, not only while lying about her experiences but NOT donating the money she promised to the ACLU... its appalling, quite frankly. do i think JD is a saint? far from it. but all ive seen as evidence is a man at the end of his rope, dealing with a violent, out of control narcissistic abuser, self medicating to dull the pain and using words instead of fists, then made to feel guilty, like a 'monster' even for that. you can see it in his eyes and the way he talks and the way their stories dont match up... ive seen this, ive been through this, i know that kind of person. it was a man, my father, in my case... but the behaviour is EXACTLY the very same...

My friend was mentally, verbally, financially, and physically abused by her husband for four years. No one believed her. She went to the cops several times and they treated her like an annoyance. Despite having proof (photos, videos, etc.) they told her to simply leave. She COULDN'T leave. Not safely. He had a totalitarian grip on everything she did and isolated her from her only family member, her aunt. She has no parents. Her dad took off when she was born and her mother died when she was 13. Her husband seemed like a nice guy and even had me fooled for the first two years I knew them. They were already married and I had no idea what she was going through. When I found out the truth, I did everything to help her escape him, but it was hard because I was in a different country. I even tried to send her money once so she could hop on a bus and find a shelter in another State. He took the money because he had control of her account. She's a 5'3" Asian girl and he was a 6'3" Viking. Every time she got fed up and tried to leave, he literally picked her up, threw her in her room, and barricaded the door. The police were called several times, but they never helped her. When she reached out to his friends and told them what was happening, they responded with, "You act like he hits you everyday." My jaw hit the floor, but it's not surprising because his best friend was also abusing his wife. :/ When she finally found a way to escape, he called me up and threatened ME, saying that if I didn't tell him which airport she was in, he'd call every airport in his vicinity and report her as a bomb threat. If anyone got hurt as a result of that report, he said it would be MY fault, lol. Needless to say, she finally got away. She's three States away now and living happily with a new boyfriend who treats her right. She's had to go through extensive therapy to recover and she's STILL recovering. She still struggles with trusting/being around men. When her current boyfriend goes to hug her, she still flinches sometimes. She had to divorce her husband remotely and get a restraining order against him. He dragged out the divorce proceedings for TWO YEARS. She didn't want anything from him except the belongings she had to leave behind when she left him. To this day, he still hasn't returned them. The abuse was so bad that she still has blackout periods. What scares me about this case is I've heard so many men say things like, "See? Women always lie!" Or, "This is why we should never believe women!" But this isn't a battle of the sexes. Men are falsely accused and women aren't believed. That's an unfortunate reality that so many people suffer. Instead of seeing this as men vs women, we should simply see it for what it is: a victim and his abuser.

That's horrific!!! I'm so glad your friend is safe now. I hope you are safe too. I had a lesser but similar experience when I was 18. He would sit outside my window and watch me all night, he would attack and man that would talk to me in public, I wasn't allowed to have friends and the worst part was after we broke up, he forced me into his car, took me out to the bush and tried to k1ll me. I got away and left to a different city. I'm lucky that I've had some really great partners since then and although we aren't together, I am still very close friends with them. People making this a gender argument really need to stfu. Amber lying does not mean all women lie and Jonny being a man of power does not mean men can't be abused. Amber made this about gender with her testimony. Get off your high horse. Amber herself expressed the fact that she thinks it’s weird if a man cries. Amber believes it’s ok for her to physically attack others she is too physically weak to actually hurt (per her own perception,) saying in her own words, “it’s not cool to hit a woman.” Like Leo said, “it’s not ok to hit ANYONE.” According to Amber it’s ok for women to be physically violent with men, but not fair if a man is physically violent with a woman. She also apparently thinks she’s immune to accountability, because she’s female. Context matters. You act like everyone in this comment section is having a conversation that has nothing to do with the video or something.🤣🤣🤣
@Lauriash

She straight up said it’s weird for a man to cry. Wow. That reminded me of my abusive ex always making fun of me for crying after he physically, emotionally, and sexually abused me. And her obviously lying about everything is so infuriating. I never got my ex to admit he abused me. There was always an excuse and reason why he was right and I was wrong. I really hope Johnny wins this because that feeling when ur abuser won’t even acknowledge the harm they’ve done, or blame you for it, is terrible and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Not even on my worst enemy. Just terrible. So sorry for everyone in the comments who have also survived abuse and have to hear this woman blatantly lie, like our abused did when confronted. She will never take responsibility for her actions unfortunately. But I really hope she gets the help she needs. And never abuses a partner like she has to 2 of them already

There's one (1) thing I disagree with, Leo, and it's that victims remember strange things. Not saying Amber is telling the truth, but rather, if there is _too_ much detail - and the person goes on rants about said detail - it may be fake. But detail? And weird details that "nobody would remember". Absolutely happens. There have been people that remember the smell of what was being cooked nearby after a shootout, but not the actual gunmen right in front of them. Or the song that was playing on the radio during a car crash, but nothing else beforehand. Brains remember strange things, especially during traumas.

Whether the rug was clean or not would not be in forefront of your mind to tell the judge and jury, when you're talking about being beaten to a pulp while fearing for your life. @@iCat4Ever Factual information doesn’t work like that. If you have a claim, in order for it to be true, there needs to be an objective showing that cooperate your statements. By your logic, there was no legitimacy to the process of the Depp v. Heard trial because of the evidence used to illustrate the truth of the events alleged. Similarly, we could use that same notion to criticize proper investigation efforts by legal bodies. That tactic of being like "oh I have a kid" seems like it should work in her favor and get the jury on her side, but most women have known a horrible mother and some have had a horrible mother. As a domestic abuse survivor this is beyond disgusting. As a mother to three sons it’s so terrifying. You can tell when she goes off script. You can see who she is very quickly. I think the reason Johnny didn’t see that is because he didn’t want to. Like a lot of us. Abusers and narcissists aren’t all that good at their craft, usually, it’s just that the people around them really want to believe. Heartbreaking.

It wasn't Johnny who smuggled the dogs into Australia, it was Amber and she is the one who was charged. She then blamed it on an employee of hers not doing the paperwork on time and said she didn't know. Amber had another assistant lie and tell the same story blaming the other person, threatening his job if he didn't (the woman they were blaming no longer worked for Amber by that point.) Amber ended up with the charges being dropped and she paid a $1000 fine. Johnny wasn't charged with anything. However, the male employee has now admitted that he lied out of fear for his job and of the power that Amber had. He was actually the one who was supposed to get the documents sorted for bringing the dogs with, but there hadn't been enough time to complete the process. He informed Amber about this multiple times, telling her that there could be serious legal trouble, but she went ahead and brought the dogs anyway, then lied on her declaration when entering the country. When she was caught, she blamed the female employee and made the male employee make a false statement to that effect. This way Amber could pretend she had no idea that the dogs hadn't actually been cleared. Given the revised statement of the employee and his admission that he lied, the Australian government has opened an investigation and could possibly bring charges of perjury against Amber. Those charges have the potential to bring serious consequences, including significant jail time. I don't know if Australia will actually charge her, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. They take this kind of thing very seriously.

The other day I had a person arguing with me about this. They were saying they believed Amber because Johnny is rich and powerful so she couldn’t abuse him. They also thought that the fact that she’s the one who filed for divorce meant she was telling the truth because abusers don’t file for divorce. I tried to wxaplin that just bc he is more rich and famous doesn’t mean he can’t be a victim. She was powerful in her own right. Women, especially at the time me too was happening, could say anything publicly and absolutely destroy a man. Amber held that over his head even threatening to do so in the first letter sent to him by her lawyers. Then she actually carried out her threat both to hurt Johnny who dared to leave her and to capitalize on the me too publicity. She’s legit evil.

I'm a big fan and generally agree with most of your views, but on the off-chance that you read this I just have to say as an SA survivor that remembering little details of random things during a traumatic moment is not uncommon. You keep saying that if such-and-such really happened, she wouldn't have remembered those details. I very clearly remember that the man who assaulted me was wearing a red shirt. I don't remember his face, but I remember his shirt and that the sink I was forced to stare at had rust around the faucet. I'm not saying she's telling the truth, just that it's important to know that people react to trauma in different ways. To be specific, just because *you* might not remember the brand of the car that almost ran you over in a very quick interaction, doesn't mean that she shouldn't be able to remember she just got her dress done when her husband ripped it. Different people remember different things from trauma, it just is what it is. In the future, just please don't assume that someone is lying if they remember details you might not have? Other than that, I do agree that she herself is confusing to watch.

To me I think the most damning part of her testimony is when she says he pulled her up the stairs by her hair, slammed her head into a brick wall, threw her down the stairs, hit her in the back of the head until she literally passed out, and yet "by the next day" she looks like she just went for a night without sleep. She was okay to go on the James Corden show and was able to sit up straight, walk, and speak coherently. There's no evidence of the "swelling" around her mouth in that interview. The injuries she claims to have sustained would take a considerable amount of makeup to cover as it is, but I don't think there's any makeup that would cover swelling. Yet she has none. And was able to put lipstick on and make her mouth look more full than it naturally is. Idk, I just think pulling someone up a flight of stairs by their hair would put that person in the hospital. Especially since she says he pulled so hard chunks of her hair came out and they were bloody. Well, Ms. Heard, there wasn't any blood on the hair in that picture. I've been a Depp fan more than half my life and the fact that he has to go through this is absolutely disgusting to me. I really, really hope she loses this case.

Her being tossed down the stairs is a good chance of breaking something. And if the abuser is smart.... They'll leave marks that gets easily hidden by clothes. That's what my ex did 95% of the time. He use to punch me in the head, legs, torso... I've had a few black eyes but he got paranoid people would notice bc I don't wear make up nor am I good at it. So once he realized that... He avoided it and slapped me so hard my lower jaw moved to the side so fast/hard that it chipped a top tooth. So unless the abuser traps you in the house... Damage can be hidden. The only way to prove it then is to get checked out by a doctor while it's semi fresh. P.S. I still think Amber is lying. She had the balls to "call out Depp for abuse". You get the F away/out before you publicly accuse an abuser.... You already know they'd punish you. And you wouldn't get into court on public TV. A while later I heard he was with Amber heard. I couldn’t believe the betrayal. I hated her immediately. I knew I was made for him and she was a poser. I eventually got over IT and decided If he had to be with someone who wasn’t me, it should be the absolute most beautiful girl in the world. I don’t feel that way now obviously because that inner ugliness seeps out and covers any and all outer beauty there once was. Anyway ever since the scandal here, I can’t help but thinking damn I should’ve followed through with my plan/unattainable fantasy! It should have been me! Lololol 😂 anyway in all seriousness it absolutely kills my soul she’s doing this and has done everything else she’s done to him. I remember when I supported Amber because of the whole 'believe victims when they share their story' thing. And then when it came out she was the abuser someone wrote 'I bet everyone who believes victims feels silly now.' and I was shocked. I didn't realise believing someone, then changing your mind when more evidence comes out means we shouldn't believe people at all. We don't have to burn people at the stake on accusations, I don't believe that's what it means to believe a victim. But it does mean listening to them and giving them a space to express it without immediate social rejection. If that means sometimes we provide that space to liars, then so be it, because more often real victims will benefit from it. It just hurt me for them to take an approach of 'see how this high profile person who has *a lot to gain and lose* lies! Now we can justify accusing all people of lying.' Ridiculous, but seems an easy thought pattern for people to slip into.

Someone told me on Twitter "men always are believed and have their experiences blasted out" yet there are 51 shelters in America. 49 of them are for women only and 2 used to be men only until one of them got shut down by protesters saying it's sexist for it to be men only. Then they tried telling me that the random fight johny had is the same as domestic violence. 🤢

Amber is the one that brought the dogs into Australia. They were trying to bring them legally but weren't able to get approval, the aids and Johnny all agreed the dogs should stay in LA. Amber brought them on her flight (Johnny was already in Australia) then didn't claim the dogs at customs OR quarantine them for 10 days like she should have. When it was found out the dogs were seized under threat of euthanization. They were able to deport the dogs back to LA. Amber tried to make her personal assistant sign something saying it was her fault for not following proper procedure, when Kate the assistant declined her forced another assistant to sign the docs instead under threat of losing their job. Australia is now investigating Amber for perjury and she could face up to 10 years in prison for it. I agree; obviously AH is lying, but some of the things people say don’t necessarily mean she’s lying (in this case probably yes, if that makes sense, but not in general). In the example with the dress for example, if that happened (ehhhh), it would definitely make sense to remember the dress because the dress itself was ripped, that makes it about the dress. Or the remembering details; while I don’t think it would make sense to retell the details in court, I do think it’s probably quite common to remember them, also considering the way the person usually processes information. Or the retelling stories thing, people often say in this context that adding a lot of details in might be a sign of lying, and it might be, but it doesn’t have to. I’m very particular about things like that and whenever I say something I want to make sure everything is clear (I’m autistic and there’s a lot of such things in my personal behaviour). Not saying all those things to discredit those who make commentary on AH. About her specifically, they are probably right. But I do think it’s dangerous to say those examples so matter-of-factly because all of this will lead to discrediting real victims … this case isn’t only about the danger of women lying about men, it’s also about actual victims potentially being compared to AH and having a harder time speaking up. It’s about all of those things (like said at the very beginning) and therefore I think it’s important how we speak about it and call out the things AH does.

If she was violated the way she says and was BLEEDING .that obviously would require immediate medical attention..and healing time from trauma would take weeks to a month. Yet she just decided ( after a very violent attack) to go up stairs take sleeping pills and go to sleep 🙄.the following day on the recordings she made . She is STOMPING pacing hysterically crying . SHE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO WALK the next day if this happened. I don't know how team allowed her to give that performance ,.. now . A REAL trauma victim recounting their attack. Would be treated very gently by her lawyers and would obviously be overcome with emotion describing the incident especially in front of their attacker. More often than not the lawyers would ask for breaks if the emotion became too consuming. Yet here's amber ( not one tear) Her lawyers didn't ask for breaks on her behalf.nothing indicative that this was a severe trauma she suffered. Anyways.Sorry about delving into the details of that part of testimony . I just hope this is not lost on the jury and they question about .in their deliberations ..it clearly did not happen the way she said. They had a toxic relationship. Theres no question. I've been following this trial since it started and I listened to Amber, but the way she's presenting herself doesn't ring true to what I've experienced or in the survivor groups I've participated in through the years. If she's brazenly sitting there lying, she's a monster doing unspeakable damage to victims.

If she can spend time recording audio and video and take pics of him when he's asleep - why not record the abuse? instead, we have a recording of her admitting to hitting him and more- she is a lair, it's so obvious, but I don't trust the world and I am legit afraid of Johnny losing the case. I hope he doesn't. If he doesn't win this, then I guess not even the law can save anyone from evil.

Well first off you don't know when someone is going to abuse you. Trying to record your abuser in the middle of abusing you is a) not really on your mind while it's happening and b) a good way to further provoke your abuser.

@@petrify4814 didn't she literally do that lol she recorded him and then smiled into the camera or something. no one just gets abused out of nowhere, you can see when it's gonna happen, either someone is provoked, or they're drunk etc. it's visible for someone who's in a relationship and is living together. if she was abused in a street or somewhere by a rando, then that would be different. she clearly recorded him several times, she is smart. it's not like you're just sitting there and bam. There's a hilarious Bill Burr stand up routine where he talks about chris brown and rihanna.

@@AidenCassaroArt As a victim of years of abuse, first from my father, then from a stepfather, then from a husband, no the fuck you don't. You don't know when something that has been fine for years is suddenly not going to be fine, you don't know when you're going to drop a plate and break it and instead of laughing it off they fly off the handle, you don't know when they've had a bad day and they're going to take something innocuous the wrong way. Even state-based abusers don't abuse every time they're in that state and you're not looking to provoke the abuse purposefully. Whether they're state-based or not, then there are lulls between instances of abuse where things are really good and you're not expecting abuse to happen at all. If they're not state-based, this continues until an instance suddenly occurs. I have actually been watching this live thanks to Emily Baker, and when Amber heard was being cross examined by Camille, I couldn’t believe what she was saying……there are documents and pictures that correlate with her “abuse” timeline; for example the “moment when Johnny pressed his foot into her back so hard ot made a bruise”, well there’s picture evidence of an event the next day after that “abuse story”, with her wearing a backless shirt with no bruises. There are pictures of broken glass and a closet somewhat torn apart, but NO pictures of all of the alleged bruises and cuts and scrapes from Johnny’s abuse. She explained a situation where the soles of her feet were all bloody and cut up due to broken glass, and she didn’t go to the hospital, she went to bed….. I. Just. DO NOT. believe her.

My father, a narcissist, sued my mother for abuse after they were divorced, even though he was the abuser. Every time he'd testify about what "happened", he'd always say the most vile shit ever, saying she had said them to him. Like he'd use really disgusting words. Words that I KNOW my mother could not be forced to *read* out loud without blushing, let alone say on her own accord. He would "repeat" them without a flinch. Now, whenever i see an alleged "abuse" victim just repeat these "verbal abuses" they suffered through so nonchalantly, i always remember him and a chunky slice of doubt sprouts forward in my mind. Amber claiming the things Johnny Depp said to her leaves the same damn taste in my mouth.

How do you live down the hall from your friend, know that her husband just physically attacked her, and don't intervene 🤔. Also, did anyone else notice: (1) None of her witnesses actually physically saw Johnny attack her, (2) Majority of her witnesses admitted to being addicts but were sober specifically on the incident dates that she told them of her alleged injuries sustained from dv, (3) Pretty much all her witnesses mooched off Johnny's kindness and finances through their relationship.

Hey former U.S. law student here, not an attorney though -- this isn't legal advice, but just fyi -- Heard's legal team asking to drop Depp's claim at the beginning of their case/turn is pretty standard in civil suits and criminal trial. The idea being that, "we just heard all the testimony from the side that brought the case, they didn't have anything, so therefore, their claim should be dropped." However, it's uncommon for those motions to succeed because the standard is that a reasonable fact finder (the jury) could reasonably, based on current evidence, possibly find, for the plaintiff. Especially, the case in civil cases since it's by a preponderance of the evidence (i.e. just over 50%) and not like a criminal trial where it's beyond a reasonable doubt. Also, while I didn't hear Heard's motion, I'm assuming they asked to drop Depp's case. Not Heard's counterclaim. Which, if Depp's claim was drop, Heard could still go for her counterclaim. Again, I didn't hear this motion but that's usually the standard case.

Nothing strange about remembering details during traumatic events. I was robbed at gun point in my home and I remember the clothes the robbers were wearing, even which clothing brands I saw on them. I remember what I was wearing, and even what food I was cooking in the kitchen when it happened. When something traumatic happens you go through it over and over in your head so all the details gets stuck in your memory.

@@lilyclair I believe it is a heartbreakingly common thing. I've listened to many true crime podcasts, documentaries and YT videos to recognize these patterns.
