True. I have the choice to eat vegan food but a lot of people don't have a choice on what exactly they eat. There are many reasons as to why someone couldn't go vegan. Some people don't have enough money to buy big meals and thus have to go for what's the cheapest that will also give them enough nutrients. @@NoxAtlas the fact that being compared to cows and pigs is such a terrible thing (on matters where we have things in common) shows how little people think of animals. Farm animals are being killed in the millions, billions even, each year. It literally fits the definition of a holocaust if you'd only take animal lives into moral consideration.
@NoxAtlas2 жыл бұрын
@@cloudthief8918 No, it doesn't. Cows and pigs are brought to slaughter houses because we eat them. The jews, disabled, guys and regime critics were killed in concentration camps because the nazis viewed them as less than human. It's a genocide fueled by hatred, homophobia, ableism, antisemitism and racism. You can't compare humans to pigs and cows because we have a more developed consciousness, higher intelligence and more importantly: killing your own kind out of malice isn't the same as killing a being that you eat because its meat and milk gives your body important nutrients. Saying that the holocaust is the same as a regular slaughterhouse or dairy farm is absolutely disgusting.
@cloudthief89182 жыл бұрын
@@NoxAtlas you basically just said "we kill cows and pigs because we kill them" Uh, yeah, I know people eat cows and pigs. That's what I'm arguing against, amongst other things. I'm saying that the speciesism that drives humans to kill other animals for food is often just as unfounded as the isms that make us prejudiced against each other. The Nazis decided that Jewish people had no moral value, they drew that line arbitrarily. You could say that they thought it was fine to kill others that weren't of their kind, as you put it. Similarly, meat eaters draw the line at other animals, which is why you could use simply being an animal as a terrible insult and as a justification by itself, as you have done.

As a student applying to an Earth science teacher program for high schools and who graduated with an environmental science and geology BS degree, I completely disagree with how TVT "teaches" veganism and its doing more harm than doing good to everyone. What bothers me the most is the way she treats others who don't agree with her. At that point, it's not longer about veganism, it's all about respect towards another human. While the teacher's responsibility is to inform students, it is completely up to the student on how they they use that information to form their own opinions. What TVT is doing is unacceptable for any teacher and seems to have no empathy towards others who cannot go vegan due to health issues, socioeconomics, living in a food desert, etc. Both teachers and students need to be openminded in order to get the most out of education and TVT is very one-sided. Anyways, hope everyone who is taking an Earth science class is enjoying it tho!

She's saying she wants to teach teens empathy by purposefully showing them a hyperbolically violent "documentary". She doesn't realise that by just showing that to teenagers, she is not making them more empathetic, she is making them desensitised. By any means, the fight to make animals have more humane living conditions is a fight worth fighting, but not like this. Shaming people is never a way to do it. Lying about animals' living conditions is not the way to do it either! Either you'll produce people who spread blatantly false information (which may lead to incorrect treatment of animals!) or you'll produce people who, out of SPITE, will mock true attempts at helping animals' living conditions, in a way that is actually beneficial and not anthropomorphizing animals. So many times i've heard the "cows are being raped to produce babies in order to lactate more!" lie. That is... blatantly false. A cow also goes into heat, and artificial insemination produces less injury than letting her around a bull. Stop anthropomorphizing the cow, they're not the same species as humans. This doesn't give people free reign to abuse them, but anthropomorphizing a cow is *also* not the correct treatment. Other hot takes this woman would probably fume in regards to: bees consent to their living conditions (they would fucking leave or kill the hive if the conditions were unacceptable) and taking their honey only gives bees more space in the hive, giving a dog a vegan diet is animal abuse, because while they are capable of eating vegetables, it doesn't mean it's nutritionally rich enough for them to live off of, cats are carnivores and you cannot feed them a vegan diet PERIOD, so it is once again animal abuse to feed them a vegan diet. And the biggest, hardest to swallow pill for this woman would be: eating a diet that is not local to you (food that is not grown/produced locally and thus has to be imported) can be worse for the environment than an "evil carnist!!!" diet (provided the "evil carnist" eats local food). You don't even have to be vegan. For instance, if you, say, live in northern europe, you are contributing to worsening the environment if you eat things like: quinoa, avocado, agave syrup, anything produced with soya (tofu, soy meat alternatives...). Again, meat eaters are not exempt from this. If you live somewhere where the land is not sufficient to raise cows or pigs, but fish are plenty and chickens are perfectly fine with being in said environment, a meat-eater would contribute the least to environmental damage by having local fish or chicken in their diet as their primary meat source. Remember when holier than thou vegans got mad at inuit people for eating food LOCAL to them, which, surprise surprise, isn't primarily vegetables because they live in an environment where plants don't tend to _survive_? Yeah, those couple of holier than thou vegans likely damage the environment more than the entirety of the inuit people. It's because you have to transport the food at a high rate, and things like avocado contribute to deforestation in order to create enough space to grow avocado in the correct conditions, at the speed that it is actually eaten, but holier than thou people aren't ready for this conversation yet. This woman traumatizes children, but probably eats child slave quinoa and thinks she's better than everyone else. I'm glad she got banned off tiktok. She shouldn't be on social media.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a big group responsible for getting her removed were also vegan. Many of us remember people wanting to go onto full on aggressive debates with us just for casually mentioning we don’t eat meat. What drives me as a vegan is showing compassion to all creatures, including humans. The majority of us just want to quietly work on making the world better, but like any group it’s the loudest that get the most attention. I don’t agree with everything you said Leo, but I’d like to think that other vegans appreciate you calling her out because she makes us look terrible.

@YourWaywardDestiny3 жыл бұрын
She seems to have forgotten that humans ARE animals. I'm no vegan, but that seems to be the mindset most vegans I know have, and to me it seems to make it a heck of a lot easier to think we're on the same level. Instead of pretending humans are this magical creature above everything else and making a division you have to either lament constantly being born into an inexplicitly higher species or constantly looking down on literally the rest of the world. "Kindness should extend to the human animal" is an important ethical vegan concept, as far as I'm aware. It's not really a surprise that most vegans are repulsed by her behavior.

@@YourWaywardDestiny Yes exactly. That’s how most vegans I know see it too. We have to look on each other with compassion and teach compassion with our actions. Maybe then the atrocities in the world will diminish.

@@weholdparties I’m vegan too and I completely agree with you. I’m tired of people debating the right way to eat. I wish other vegans would realise that pushing veganism onto others will just draw them away from it, and make them not want to associate themselves with other vegans.

people like her need to understand that not everyone can be vegan. some people have to eat whatever's on their plate because of their parents or because otherwise they'll starve. and saying shit like this can really trigger people with eating disorders or other mental illnesses that affect their diet. some people don't choose what they wanna eat, it's just how life works. whereas someone like her can abide to a cruelty free diet, someone else can get sick even thinking about salads or fruits or whatever. it's the visible privilege for me sis.
@noraunhappy3 жыл бұрын
And to be fair, I’m guessing her diet isn’t actually cruelty free. Animal cruelty free maybe, but I don’t think it’s a stretch to guess a lot of her produce is bought a giant supermarkets, farmed with child and slave labor. Unless you’re buying all your products from small local farms and businesses, or growing it yourself, cruelty was almost certainly involved in your food.

This. I'm already underweight and struggle to gain weight. If I went vegan I would lose even more weight that I can't afford to lose, or have to eat junk food and tons of carbs just to get enough calories to stay alive. Some people need to prioritize their health, and that includes eating meat, eggs, and dairy. Also vegan logic doesn't make sense. They don't believe human life is more valuable than animal life, so by that logic, animals shouldn't be more important than insects or rodents. How many insects and rodents are killed while farming fruits, vegetables, and grains? Wouldn't the death of 1 cow that can feed many people, be better than the many insects and rodents that are killed while farming vegan food?

no one should be vegan, it will malnourish anyone eventually, it’s just a matter of time no one can get enough nutrition from it since there are numerous essential nutrients that are available only from animal based foods animal based foods are essential and irreplaceable #exvegan

This woman is the reason people dismiss veganism out of pocket. The problem is not eating animals. The problem is industrial farming, the way many animals are treated is appalling and horrific. Do not buy from factory farms. Buy local free range eggs and chicken, grass fed beef, local dairy, that's what will help the animals. This woman is doing literally nothing to help animals. Nothing. Actually, if anything, she's making things worse. My culture has always eaten animals, but that's because we're part of the web of life, everything is intertwined. The rules are to only kill when you need food, to thank the animal's spirit and give an offering, and to use every single piece of that animal because wasting it would be disrespectful. That's sustainable. That's the kind of thing we need. These massive conglomerates that are keeping animals in miserable conditions where they're treated with violence and killing animals in brutal and cruel ways en masse is what we need to focus on. Not eating meat. That's how we became what we are. We don't need industrial/factory farming and we shouldn't want it. We can sustain ourselves locally and share when needed. We need a paradigm shift to get people to understand the issues, care about it, and willingly participate in the change. Calling people animal rapists and screaming in their faces that they are going to hell is not helpful.
@vera_ah3 жыл бұрын
Yes this meat in itself is not a problem it’s how the animals are treated. And the wastefulness many parts of the animal can also be used (where I’m from chicken hearts are a delicacy) there are many ways to use an animal!

Absolutely this! ALSO: This shift would be a massive help in fighting global warming. The biggest emission sector is transportation. Buying locally majorly helps reduce this large amount of emission. So when you buy locally you, for one: support local businesses that helps the community (and in turn also the local enviornment, as smaller local farms can take proper care of the fields and meadows they own), two: encourage and support healthy living conditions for farm animals and three: reduce emissions that would occure from long distance travel and shipping.
@colinstuart95263 жыл бұрын
There's some simple math to be done here, the amount of land required to move away from factory farming is completely unsustainable, it simply cannot be done. If you actually think that it would be easier to make almost half of the landmass of the US dedicated to raising and feeding animals rather than just skipping the burgers instead, then you are delusional. Nice thought, but completely impractical. Also, the vast majority of those labels of "free-range" and things of that sort are complete bs. A full on factory chicken farm with a small outside pen with mud that the chickens can go to counts as "free-range" without actually meaningfully reducing the suffering from factory farms. They don't have to have any access to grass at all. And local dairy still forcibly inseminates cows and takes newborn calves away from their mothers, regardless of whether it happens on a farm 10 miles away or 1000 miles away. Even the best of circumstances for dairy cows are completely reprehensible. It's just not sustainable, and while you might think that we could theoretically eat meat in an ethical way, in practice the sheer amount of demand for meat means that it could never happen. Far, far easier to just eat plants instead.
