I know there probably isnt much to go on with it, But Made in Abyss has a unique society where all their...everything (education, economy, labor, government, and trade) is determined by stuff they find in a hole in the ground. They teach kids to want to be White Whistles for further exploration of a chasm that has claimed thousands of lives already, and everything they find can be sold to neighboring nations. This also brings about militias of other nationed adventurers to try and break into the city and claim things from the Abyss. There is a huge section of the above ground where the poor live in slums and eat from the garbage, and there are people who take advantage of them using them as non-human test subjects.

First off, had never heard anything about the author being a bum. Learned that through this vid. Yedoye is honestly the cynic/pessimist that I am but like on 100 and I love it lol. I make the choice not to read deeply into stuff but it's hard not to see the parallels from attack on titan in today's society. The titans = cops tho? 🤯🤯...mind blown. As for societies to be explored, the haves and have nots is pretty much in every anime. I'd love your take on living in the Tokyo Ghoul world. It's a normal world.....minus the monsters trying to eat you on the low and such 😂

ok so I was very late for the video, but man do yedoye's videos make my day better, anyway I rlly liked the way he explained the monarchy and how yes historia is nice but what comes after she dies, just cuz she's nice doesn't mean someone should have that much power over people. Also the way the POV change and how it made the viewer empathize with marleyans because they don't know better and have been fed lies, sir that shit was explained so well I cried. I wanna see Yedoye do death note next, I think it's really realistic and kinda makes the viewer think because like "oh fuck the guy that wanted justice is now who we want justice from" much like aot if that makes sense, anyway great video :)

@@everhall306 Not at all. Which is why I think it's dumb that I see so many people pointing it out like they figured out some dark secret about the show. Anyone who watches it with any modicum of historical knowledge can see the glaringly obvious parallels between the lore and events of AoT and fascism in the real world; but the AoT doesn't glorify it in any way. It's especially ironic that plenty of the people I've seen complaining about AoT "depicting nazis" are also JoJo fans-- considering that in JoJo part 2, there were literal nazis on the side of the protagonists.

good video. regarding about 7 minutes in, asking what the "point" of the warriors (ostensibly) becoming honorary marleyans is when their lives are so short, this is covered when we see reiner's initial motivations for becoming a warrior. that is, his efforts would grant special status to his family as well, so despite his own shortened lifespan, his family would theoretically be able to live with the boon he earns them through his work as a warrior. we all know that's not how it actually works in real life, and the show makes it pretty clear that it's not true in any substantial way in marleyan society either, but that is another carrot on the stick for those that enter the warrior cadet program
