That's interesting. I see 2 options with your theory: the fun one, where it's Mike having that realization, but not forgetting it again. He knows what he is (we don't but-) Or, the more likely one, because it's not on its own, but in a statement, it has no implications at all because it's not of definitely supernatural orgin, and is a part of a full statement ("Father, it's me, Michael...") and not just "It's me".

"it's me" being momentary awareness could explain why it takes until UCN for the vengeful spirit to "actualize" and become what it is; if it is caught in the loop of forgetting and remembering then it cannot become what it will eventually. The fire of FFPS could be the trigger; when all physical vessels are removed and it's only ghost-time with no object to inhabit. Haunting an object might "settle" a spirit into not constantly seeking self-awareness; what am i? i am the thing i am in. But if the object is stripped away, then what are you? what were you? what are you now?

I love any video that talks about how the building itself is definitely haunted, AND how the things going on are generally "ghostly". I feel that people get lost in the weeds talking about how much control a certain child has over their animatronic, which can be important but I feel takes up too much discussion in the fandom, when the truth is probably more that the restaurant is like the house in poltergeist. So I love how you talk both about which kids are more in control, which is important, but also about how it's just generally haunted. Great video, as always.

Michael also says “it’s me” in his monologue, i originally thought it was the crying child’s repetition of the phrase rubbing off on him, but with the point you made about self-awareness and whatnot, it could maybe be he’s trying to grasp the fact that he’s still alive? he seems to do that a couple sentences later. also, i feel like the mci victims would refer to themselves as a collective, like how the girls in Together Forever refer to themselves as plural, “your ladies in waiting,” especially when Ralph asks “you’re just kids? who?” i feel it would have been a much more appropriate response to say “it’s us.” i interpret that as a sign that its not the mci victims answering, but the crying child or some other individual. anyway, amazing video, keep up the good work!

29:03 I think that last scene is confirming why all the empty heads and endos can rarely sometimes stare at the camera menacingly in parts and service. They’re also possessed by other workers. Which makes sense considering Phone Guy says he always wondered what was in all those empty heads back there in his last call. Like this was being not-so-subtly hinted at for 10 years. Also I don’t think they can be the shadows since shadows existed way before Phone Guy was taken out lol.

Yeah, I mean they literally get stuffed into a suit. Like of course they don't stay dead. What's interesting to me about the word search in the Security Logbook is that it's not actually instances of Its Me throughout a grid of letters, the whole thing is entirely just ITSME repeated over and over with only two exceptions. Those being the words at the bottom of the page meant to actually be searched for, and the questions "WHO ARE YOU" and "WHAT IS YOUR NAME". They act as interruptions in a block of text that would otherwise exclusively say ITSME. Once you notice that it makes the word search really easy lol

9:10 there's a possibility what Bronwen is long dead by night 5 and it's her ghost leaving a message to Ralph. She seems to know impossible information like the name of the kid possessing Bonnie, which under normal circumstances would be impossible to tell even if she investigated the MCI. So either she met Jeremy as a ghost or it was Golden Freddy pretending to be Bronwen. There is a whole theory about it on Reddit, it's pretty cool.

Who Bronwens “contact” is is super fascinating to me and how she gets her info. I hope we see more of her but I don’t know if we will
@thepixelman477624 күн бұрын
Well it’s not unlikely that either of the GoldenDuo (whether they share GF or not) can share and see others memories, I’d always assumed that’s how certain UCN animatronics came to be, so one of them could’ve gotten the info from Bronwens soul or something (might’ve also just relayed a message idk). I do honestly like the idea of one of them warning Ralph of the other animatronics plan because they don’t want them to get hurt while the other spirit is the one who’s still trying to get him (I personally think it’s Dave but it could be Cassidy).
@spudkin56424 күн бұрын
I still think there's some merit to the original thoughts behind "it's me." And I don't think it necessarily precludes your theory. "It's me" really sounds like a child that is terrified desperately trying to get someone to notice them. They've been trapped as spirits for a long time, scared, unable to call out for help. During those flashes of self-awareness, they call out to the security guard, Mike, whoever, hoping to all heaven that someone will realize that they aren't a robot, they're scared little kids. They aren't in control of their emotions, because they're kids. Only, their temper tantrums are deadly. They are lashing out in overwhelming anger like a kid can do, but are also still hoping to be rescued. Kids aren't the most rational creatures, and I can imagine one that was traumatized by being literally murdered would be even less so. "It's me" could be the last bit of their consciousness desperately calling out to be rescued from the hell they've been stuck in. Also, I've really enjoyed your content. Your enthusiasm is infectious, your wit is on point, and you clearly put a lot of work into presentation. We will be watching your career with great interest.

Finally, someone going back to the most retrospectively interesting parts of the lore. The Week Before and just reexamining the first game is fascinating, because ofc the "lore" we know now didn't exist in it's entirety then, so it's going back and taking these disparate elements of the game and finding ways to fit them into modern lore that make sense, it's an interesting kind of thought experiment. I'm inclined to agree with all your takes on these, honestly the complexity of adding characters like Bronwen strikes me as unnecessary (on the part of the writers of The Week Before, clearly that cat's out of the bag and people working out the lore have to acknowledge it) very cool and good / 10
@WitheredCircle25 күн бұрын
Ok so I finished watching the whole video and I've got to say, great theory as usual Candi! I do agree that "IT'S ME" is about a soul coming to terms with its existence as something possessing an animatronic. The real question comes with FNAF AR, at least to me, since I think it's pretty clear that the Golden Freddy in that game isn't the real one. Could Fazbear know about the animatronics saying "it's me?" I also wanted to add that I think the reason Golden Freddy, Cassidy's animatronic, is so closely tied to IT'S ME could be because she's come to terms with her possession quicker than the rest, explaining how she's so aware in the Logbook. Could also be a bit of Dave influencing the animatronic to communicate to Mike in there but who knows. Keep up the good work!

I'm far from the best person to explain agony, but as I understand it is the stain that suffering leaves behind, a lot of concentrated negative emotions can cause a wound, an echo of sorts. It basically causes a place to be haunted, not by a person, but by the suffering that happened on that spot.
@jolo605124 күн бұрын
I feel like the FNAF 2 cutscenes we get from Freddy’s perspective is actually us seeing the animatronics become aware for the first time. These flashbacks take place before FNAF 2 in the original Freddy’s location, where the MCI occurred. What we’re seeing is them all waking up for the first time ever in their new bodies. We see them all look at each other and we see Chica and Bonnie’s animatronic faces go from mild curiosity to absolute horror. Thanks to their animatronic faces, they can’t make that much expression. So it’s hard to tell what they’re really thinking. But we get a good enough idea. Bonnie ends up staring at Freddy. We can’t see his eyes, but the vibe is clearly that he’s aware that something definitely isn’t right. While Chica looks like she’s fully turned towards Freddy, her eyes unseeable in the lighting and her beak wide and agape, like she’s screaming. We even see Golden Freddy appear right in front of Freddy too. While these cutscenes play, we can hear the echoes of children laughing which gradually turns into children screaming as the cutscene comes to a close (at least that’s what it sounds like to me). As these laughs turn to screams, we hear Freddy scream in the only way he really can - a low and monotone robotic sound. That’s all his animatronic’s voice will allow him to do. This tone is also very similar to the one we hear Freddy do in the FNAF Movie shortly after Afton is springlocked. And then the vision starts to glitch out as the animatronic and the soul are overwhelmed with emotion and it ends with “It’s me”, the words that signify when a possessed thing acknowledges that it is not the way it should be, but that they can’t understand why. That’s also why the first cutscene which we only ever see once when booting up the game for the first time ends with ERROR instead of “It’s me”. Because the souls haven’t woken up yet. The animatronic programming is still in effect. But then the Night 4 cutscene happens. We see The Puppet, constantly looking into the eyes of Freddy. No matter where he looks, the Puppet meets his gaze. But we notice that Bonnie and Chica are no longer so… disturbed looking. They’re facing forward and they’re docile. They’re… ASLEEP. The Puppet has calmed them. The Puppet has united them. They can’t understand anything that’s happened to them and they’re scared and angry and confused, but the Puppet came to soothe them. To act as a protector. Hence why Bonnie and Chica have seemingly calmed down with the Puppet’s presence. And we can assume that Freddy is also hushed to sleep as well. This also explains why the Withered’s don’t start becoming active until Night 3 (with the exception of Foxy who is active on Night 2). It’s because they’ve woken up. The Toys and their activity have stirred the spirits and awoken them from slumber. That’s also why the animatronics are so active and aware in the first game and The Week Before. The Puppet is seemingly nowhere to be found. They have no leader, no direction, nothing to keep them in check. So they make their own plans… and their own rules. Rules that even a Freddy head won’t protect the guards from. Only steel security doors. A plan to leave and wreak havoc. To become monsters themselves. And if the Puppet were there, she’d likely bring them all comfort and convince them not to leave and end up becoming the murdering monsters that they’re not. So that’s my interpretation of what the FNAF 2 cutscenes tell us! They’re flashbacks to when the souls first become awake and aware in their new bodies and how the Puppet is the only one who can soothe them and make them more docile. What do you think?

In FNAF1 Foxy is aware of the camera and is watching how active it is; freezing every time it checks on him. Foxy "resetting" when you check on him could be seen as the character losing confidence until it believes it can once again "get you by surprise". Wanting to literally jumpscare you instead of just going for it seems fairly "aware". In FNAF2 not getting tricked easily could be seen as a judgement-call; it should be easy to trick a robot from the 1980s into coming to a different conclusion, based on it's limited ability to reason. The flashlight having an effect can meanwhile be seen as a literal hardware reset; the flashing light is confusing it with rapid input and it's not an issue of "discerning" what it sees. Scott as a writer is very aware of the difference between hardware and software; programing and the literal functionality of parts. Animatronics as object, Robots as objects, are a really fine mixture of these two things. If you look into the history of robotics, you will see that a very "smart" or "aware" robot can have limited or almost no range of movement; because its software is complex but its physical mechanisms are crude. The reverse is the same as well; continuing into the present day Japanese robots are physically impressive, but most of them are "puppets" or functioning as animatronics (this is not a dis at all; their work is amazing but is very focused/specialized around movement) with a human operator sitting off to the side remotely commanding them (Asimov from Toyota is amazing but is always being controlled while being presented). Meanwhile the famous American robot Kong was basically a head with "eyes" and eventually a crude pair of arms (not really hands) but it ran with a dynamic "infant-like" AI. All of this said, given FNAF is all about ghosts and Foxy is the same generation of robot/animatronic as the others... He is exhibiting behavior that does not scream "intelligence" but definitely suggest "awareness" in the same way a spider will avoid a hand reaching for it.

Honestly Agony makes more sense then remnant. Agony is just that. Agony. Suffering that has infectet whatever it came in contact with in a wary bad way. While Remnant...is it just Metal that was hauntet? Is it remnants of memories? Is it both? Does it have to be a metal at all? We see it as just white energy in the Phone game. So Remnant trips me a lot more up with the details then Agony wich I argue more is the creepy ghost stuff
@jabbathehutt27749 күн бұрын
The way i see remnant, is that it is an alloy. A new material made from a concoction of other materials. Like steel, it has iron in it, but it isnt entirely iron. Remnant is an alloy made from Agony and metal being melted together. So it can make robots with supernatural properties, while not really being the actual spirits controlling or possessing the animatronic. It could also be "possesed" by the same spirits, but much less cohesive by being melded and mixed with metal but to me its name "remnant" implies thats only what energy or agony remains after a spirit moved on. My take at least.

Have we ever considered the idea that GF is simply an "unreliable narrator"? There was that theory at one point going around (might have been Game Theory but I don't remember) that the puppet was trying to guide Dave to his body because you wander as a ghost and don't remember anything until you reach your own corpse. So maybe the "It's Me"s from GF are Dave being like "that's a human, that must be me" and then tries to possess the player, ultimately killing them. Probably has lots of holes but interesting as an idea.

I am really enjoying your videos, this and the "where tf was goden freddy" were an amazing watch and great theories on their own! Your editing, recording and narrating quality are on par in my opinion and I really enjoy em. And about the agony thing, at least for me (I am not the best FNAF theorist), it's the more "magical" counterpart to remanent. While remanent is something much more physical, being able to be extracted and manipulated and molded. While agony is a result of intense human emotion poured into the objects nearby. Agony is often theorised (afaik) not to necessarily be tied to a spirit while remanent is. Agony is like an energy source, that can fuel certain actions that happen in the FNAF world. Although agony is also found to be transferable as seen (if i recall correctly) when afton explodes inside a Freddy's location all the stuff his remains touch get infused with agony.
@blademasterzero24 күн бұрын
This theory brings questions about springtrap as well, we know he has agency and he’s shown on occasion to be smart but he’s also still bound to his suit. He can’t stop it when his suit detects voices and has to go to them. Is afton fully aware of everything too? Maybe that’s why he so happily attacks michael or doesn’t recognize him, you’d think the man who dedicated his entire life essentially to murder and researching the supernatural would have a better grasp on the supernatural too but unlike the other spirits, his spiritual power seems to end at controlling his body. While the others can influence the building they’re in to some degree, unless it’s not actually the spirits who control the phantoms in fnaf 3 and it’s actually springtrap.

When I read the ending with Ralph saying "it's me" (I didn't read the book, just your video) I paused for a second and just thought how thats such a fitting way to use the phrase and how I, as an writer (or attempt to) myself, would use that in the exact same way and when I reached the end of the video with your full explanation I can't help but like it even more, great video candi lady :3

Hey I love your videos and wanted to let you know I think you're a great theorist! And as such I wanted to send you down the rabbit hole I've been theorizing about: Rwqfsfasxc and his strange connection to William. As early as fnaf 2 Rxq foreshadows him alongside Shadow Freddy, Rxq in the office because William was the night/day guard and Shadow Freddy in Withered Bonnie's place to show he used the Spring Bonnie suit. And Rxq can glitch through 3's Minigames as William was present as Plush Fredbear and caused said events (The Mci). Then in Ucn Rxq is the shadow afraid of his wickedness (Nightmare) and Nightmare having red eyes and Rxq glowing blue: Being purple put together. Then in the AR trailer we hear William's voice speaking with Rxq's sfx in the background and Springtrap speaking with raspy-ness but no Rxq sfx. Therefore implying Rxq has his voice or is him. And in AR he's bring hunted after by "C" aka Golden Freddy searching for him post William beating Ucn. And how Glitchtrap/Mimic trues to replicate Rxq. That's the first few pieces but there's a lot more evidence supporting the idea Rxq is William himself or part of his soul somehow though considering how Nightmare/Sf is likely Eleanor I find it highly likely Rxq is either his "humanity" or himself. But feel free to come to you're own conclusion, but I believe Rxq being the only Shadow left is meant to show William's new purpose in the story cuz post-ucn all his kids are gone. Good luck and I'm looking forward to you're next theory!

One of my current fav theories rn is "Shatter theory" long story short it's a theory that the reason Dave's memories are practically non existent is that his soul is split up amongst the main cast (and maybe the building?) he's a passenger to more than just golden freddy. "There's a little bit of me in everybody" vibes. I feel like the scattered "it's me" amongst the crew could be connected to that as just a fun connection/thought in general.

27:53 Huh….. ok so a few potential ideas I just had that could explain GFs behavior: -for FNAF 2, Cassidy’s a lot more aggressive from what I recall; you can actually set them in Custom night even. I think this could just be that the DCI had just happened; the anger of Afton getting away with it AGAIN could definetly push Cassidy to force themself to attack Jeremy as best they can. -for FNAF 1, this depends a bit on interpreting the timeline, but if you believe Aftons springlock death happened BEFORE FNAF 1, then it’s possible Cassidy’s rage has subsided to some degree. They’re certainly not at peace, but they don’t feel the need to force themself to attack Mike as much since they’ve at least partly got their revenge and their killer is in the building. Either before or after, I guess there’s also that at least with Mike, Dave might be getting in the way. - Their experience in the logbook remembering their name helped them fully gain at least that level of awareness in that long gap before 3. -I think I commented the same idea in your FNAF world video, but if Cassidy was the one who we play as there, I could see it REALLY flaring up their agony that Afton not only is moving again and out of the safe room, but seemingly escaped after the fire. Heck, they might not even find out until after they finish (assuming they don’t question the playable FNAF 3 characters but that’s a weird grey area). -being separated from Dave after HD may also be part of it; we don’t know their relationship exactly, but I like to think Dave helped calm Cassidy’s rage a bit sharing a body or not, so aside Charlie they’d feel more alone. -using that idea of Afton repairing himself with Fredbear parts, it’s possible that’s what allowed Cassidy to at least do UCN… maybe. Also I guess this would mean they got set on fire so that doesn’t help. Didn’t intend to write that much; then again, Cassidy’s like my favorite of the spirits so I guess I had a lot of ideas. 😅
@CandiBuunny24 күн бұрын
I am really really really hoping we see some of the relationship between the Vengeful Spirit and Garret in the second fnaf movie to get an idea of how Cassidy and Dave feel about each other... unless Garret really is the puppet. In that case I'm down to see how Cassidy feels about Charlie

I like to think that Its Me is two separate things that sometimes correlate together, sometimes don't depending upon the spirit and what they're inhibiting. Its Me is both a feedback loop of a spirit spiraling down and becoming more lost as they struggle to retain a sense of self, but are losing every contextual memory of their past life to keep that identity together; thus all they can think of what they are is Its Me. But also, specifically for the FNAF 1 animatoronics or any machine that is less articulate or advanced than The Puppet or Circus Baby who could speak free-form thoughts, Its Me is all the lesser aware spirits can put together from prerecorded lines in the machine to say who they are. Its Me could be a corruption of character announcements they would say at the beginning of every show like Its Me, Freddy Fazbear etc. And on the Subject of Wrath Child and why the Vengeful Spirit is seemingly the most powerful monster, but is the rarest to find. I think their inability to reliably show is proof that Agony has its limits, or could even be a finite source of energy. Undying Hatred maybe can only do so much and the more you use that emotion, especially to teleport yourself or others to whatever nightmare you wish to inflict, could take a lot of what is possibly keeping The One You Should Not Have Thrilled in this world. Cassidy/Whatever specifically wants to hurt and torment Afton. They have a specific target, even if they don't care who else they murder to reach them or gets in their way. But they must have Slick Willie to put in the Nightmare Blender, Forever. So maybe, they have to choose their attacks very carefully and maybe the player just does something extremely dumb to find themselves next to Blond Bruin.
@CandiBuunny24 күн бұрын
I like the idea of agony having limits because with Eleanor in the Faz Fright books, it does sort of seem all-powerful. From a storytelling perspective, it's kind of sad to have the most powerful force in the word be pain. You'd want it to be something like hope or kindness
@Iwuznothere24 күн бұрын
@@CandiBuunny They say she feeds on it and she collected pieces of agony to make the dumb Trash Giant, so its also possible her and maybe even Yellow Bear's strength comes from acquiring and feeding on other sources of Agony than just themselves. Like vampires, they cause more suffering and evil to sustain themselves. And as a minor fan of Green Lantern, I'm interested in other emotions than just pain, fear and hatred be the strongest emotional power in Agony, but possibly the easiest to sow and reap for a horror franchise.

Elizabeth and the circus baby, and yes Charlie with his death. Even crying child with the bite

I don't think Ralph haunts the building, he haunts the phone. Isn't it weird the book has a "new game plus"? (New game plus is a term used in gaming where you are able to restart your journey through the game but with added benefits from having a first playthrough.) I think what happens is that Ralph always died in the true ending with him recording the phone call, but upon his death he does not remember this, rather, he remembers bits and pieces, he actually gets a lot of things wrong. Like his daughter never going to Freddys yet contradicting himself saying she did but hated it there. He forgot so much. The second playthrough is him finally remembering what truly happened to him. He is able to record his final message (Likely a similar process Broanwin went through to record her final message to Ralph) and then moves on. It seems that, unless tethered to reality by something (William with the vengeful spirits) Adults have a way easier time to remember who they were, even if they haunt a place or suit for a while, they quickly move on once they put the pieces back together. Children can't. Either not enough memories have formed in their life to have a cohesive grasp on who/what they are. Or their underdeveloped minds cause them to be way less capable of putting themselves back together, thus requiring an outside force like Happiest Day to refind themselves. The more of a grasp of yourself you have, the more control you have over the thing you're haunting. This is very clear with Micheal Brooks? Brooke? in the novels. He is aware of himself, and therefore aware what needs to be done. It also seems that they can make the conscious choice to stay even if they remember themselves. We see this with Jake in The Stitchwraith, he collected himself, found a coherent memory of who he was and was about to move on, but Andrew's plead made him stay. After finding himself, he chose to stay.

I love the idea of attuning it to memory!! I think memory struggles are (ironically) very often forgot about. It's what my latest video on the Box and Happiest Day is all about! Also, you asked something about Remnant and Agony so I thought maybe I could help with that. From what I understand, what that's all about is that there's 2 ways that something can be "haunted". The first way is more obvious, it's souls and ghosts and possession. That's Remnant. The souls, the ghosts. Then there's emotion. REALLY STRONG emotions can linger and become their own entities. Agony is just the most powerful and common of them. We first see this happen in The Silver Eyes. Henry cried into a doll and it came to life. His emotions were so strong that it created a living being. So when we hear that Edwin beat up the Mimic with all of his grief and rage... yeah that's not good. LOL But yeah. Remnant = Soul, Agony = Emotion. Just fancy terms to explain the paranormal.

22:22 the graphic novels show us how us how animatronics can become sentient with their own minds using others souls the "fake charlie" which is Elizabeth is actually circus baby who grew hateful because Elizabeth's soul allowed c.b to feel emotions. C.b directly says this when she talks about how she has memory of a little girl walking up to her and then the girl starts screaming but then she has the same memory but from the perspective of Elizabeth. Elizabeth isnt aware its circus baby who became aware after taking Elizabeth's soul

Glad to see your videos getting so much traction! You're nearly to 10k Subscribers! I'm a day late to the video so I browsed your comments and see that a lot of smart people have left very smart and insightful things. I think the only thing I can really add is something that is a vague disagreement with another commenter about the whole Remnant vs Agony thing. So to me Remnant and Agony make equal sense within a clearly supernatural world. Remnant is this world's version of Ectoplasm ala Ghostbusters. It manifests physically as a liquid metal, but it can be "Injected" into other metals? The idea that it's injected (I believe that's the terminology used) as opposed to used as a lubricant or paint tells me that it's supernatural and so can do a lot of weird things. Remnant also seems to tie to a person's identity or soul to some degree. It's the remnants of their being. To me this reminds me of the graphic novel for... I think it's The 4th Closet? Whichever one has the amalgamation animatronic that as I recall looks like it has multiple animatronic heads fused to one torso, like the Candy Cadet stories about 5 becoming one. Also the idea of remnant being able to power and possess objects very much harkens back to Ghostbusters 2 and the Mood Slime to me. Agony on the other hand is psychic manifestation. Psychic phenomenon and Ghosts tend to go hand in hand in a lot of media. The aforementioned Ghostbusters added Pyrokinesis in their latest movie, Mediums and fortune tellers tend to show up in a lot of ghost stories, Steven King's Rose Red had a team of psychics investigate. I think the one thing I would point to specfically is Netflix's Haunting of Hill House and one character in particular (Leaving out name to avoid spoilers just in case) has the power of Psychometry, generally the ability to read psychic impressions left on an object and get a sense of an event that happened. Agony seems to be something like reverse psychometry, a psychic impression of such magnitude that it leaves behind something that even non-sensitive people can experience, or even create beings that act in accordance to the event that birthed them. In this case I would point to Into the Pit's yellow agony monster and note that he feels like the sort of being that would be born from such a thing. Anyway, I know this wasn't very big on exploring the It's Mes but I think you covered that part Extremely well and I don't have much of anything to add. Excellent video as always and I look forward to your next one! Have a great day! 🍬🍬🍬
