Which seems to be the recurring theme in Alien. NO ONE should be controlling or believing they can control the xenomorphs, they're too dangerous as they ALWAYS end up killing everyone in the end as they ONLY need to be wiped out. Xenomorphs are really crafty and always find a way to escape, reproduce, and kill everyone around them due to their acid blood that gets all over the place, strength, speed, and intelligence as their NOT supposed to be researched at all, that's the whole point on why the space jockeys got killed on their own ship, xenomorphs CAN'T be controlled or "researched" at all, they can only be destroyed but so many people make the mistakes of thinking they can use them and now humans are the next target to get wiped because of their own hubris. It will inevitably fall apart just like all the other plans for the xenomorphs' containment like the space jockeys and now the humans. @@Gadget-Walkmen Now you have isolated the fundamental error that lead to the failure of the black strain Xenomorphs as slave workers. A set of errors that made the new stock toxic cargo to colony worlds. For all of their genius the Engineers made a horrible set of errors. Besides their intelligence the ability to use intelligent humanoid bodies as hosts doomed the project. Some 94 cargo ships went out then. We know that xenomorphs can bring down a ship by inseminating the pilots.

@@randallbesch2424 Nothing you’ve said goes against what I’ve been saying. The xenomoprhs ultimately are basic animals with very limited intelligence no matter who their host are through their evolutionary process but extremely dangerous and aggressively violent. They can only “bring down a ship” if they get loose with the facehuggers infecting the crew which is what most likely happened to them based off of clues and hints we have seen. The Engineers should have never used them, nor should the humans have tried as well, but they did so because they were arrogant enough to believe they could control them which we constantly see in the series that’s not really possible.

I think it's a brilliant idea to analyze evil corporations like Weyland Yutani because it's a murkier subject than an evil individual. It's not just a big wig at the top that decides vile acts, whether its for greed or an extreme act for "the greater good", but a system in place where multiple individuals willing allow for such acts to happen in the first place but unlike an empire or an invading force, the corporation is always trying to convince the public at large that they're on _their_ side. I feel the Umbrella Corporation, Omni Consumer Products, and Ingen would be great follow ups for a later time.

As a fan, and critic of the WH40k universe (it sparked my interest in philosophy, and I later realized how damn cruel and stupid the whole cosmology is)--as a fan and critic of WH40k, that would be a rabbit hole that Vile would have to live in for a number of years. I'd save him the troulbe by saying that 40k is ultimately 'rationalism gone mad', in that the values espoused are either classic virtues like courage against impossible odds, or just as much Enlightenment-style values like science and reason are paramount, or that a productive society is the best one (e.g., Frederick the Great of Prussia saying that you should send all the dumb brutes off to fight but keep the even-tempered workers off the front lines). BUT evil-luls says otherwise. I'd also say that 40K is very much existentialist, in that 'the gods need faith to survive, thus gods are ultimately man-made entities', or that most of the space demons aren't proper demons, but are just negative emotions given form and hunger. 'Existence precedes essence'. Though, I will also say it is fair that 40k IS satire, and for satire to stand, it needs innate values so that it has something to compare/contrast/criticize. It is a bizarre and even admirable mix of stuff, 40k is, BUT ultimately it is screwed by its malignant cosmology. [As in, there is the Materium and Immaterium, the physical and energy worlds, and that the Materium influences the Immaterium to a great degree, so that the Immaterium can in turn bleed over into the physical, and spawn demon-things based on the malice of the thinking minds of physical creatuers, like humans. But, the balance is lopsided, in that the Immaterium has an easier time subsuming the Materium into itself, and there does not seem to be a way to reverse this. Basically, 40k does not have an explanation for the origin of malice or evil, it just accepts that it exists and runs with it. In addition, unless restrained, the supernatural elements are always baneful to the mundane beings, where in other settings the supernatural is either neutral, beneficial, or even benevolent. Thank for listening to this lecture, take your complimentary peanuts on the way out.

Not even just the leaders. Individuals in the company are basically encouraged to take whatever steps necessary to get ahead. Ripley sacraficed herself to kill the queen alien being born inside of her. The prison isn't destroyed. It's just abandoned. I only mention it because that queen was what the company was after and denied, so it's relevant. Particularly because the last prison leader left - while being an employee of the company - sacrafices himself to help Ripley deny the company it's prize.
@seanbrazell70952 жыл бұрын
Given how frustrating A3 was in how it both killed off key characters (off screen and for little to no reason and reversed the expanded, larger scale that Cameron so brilliantly escalated the scope and scale of the threat, company, and universe down to one alien, no guns, isolated and convicted rapists and murderers at risk rather than entire colonies and mankind itself, I try to ignore it as much as possible too. The sad part is that it's actually a great movie, just a shifty ALIENS sequel movie. With a few minor changes it would have been a FANTASTIC sequel to ALIEN and an ideal setup for a Cameron made Aliens 3 just like the Aliens 2 he actually made. Plus that way Alien Ressurection would have never been made. Whatever else, THAT would have been a GIFT to the world even Zeus and Prometheus would have happily supported together, post liver or pre liver, depending. On the time of day and the day and date release schedule in post covid Olympus cinema markets.

Leading up to Alien Romulus, I started rereading Alien stories and it is amazing how Weyland-Yutani have so much power. It's a terrifying future. Even their small role in Romulus, of them basically adding infinite work years to the colony members, is outrageous and horrific. While they are the biggest entity in the Alien universe, In hoping future films add some sort of organization that combats it, like the Union of Progressive Peoples (UPP) from the scraped Alien 3 script.

You pretty much hit it spot on. But I still feel you must must must do one on Nina Myers for "24" a woman who's ability to blend in to almost any situation or place makes her a dangerous force. A villain who is the only person who is able to stand bit for bit up against the one and only Jack Bauer.
@TransAth2 жыл бұрын
I think Henderson was able to stand and match Jack too
@jasongreathouse66612 жыл бұрын
@@TransAth in a way yes. But Nina was much more sneaky and a traitor, who's loyalty, is not based on one belief or another, but as we find out in Day 3, but on money. Putting in play WMD's and killing innocent lives for no other reason than to just save yourself is one of true evil, Henderson, as stated by Jack, is a patriot become traitor, based on misplaced loyalty. To me I would say of the villain/antagonists, that exist in the world of 24, hers acts are not based on any kind of emotion, belief, or ideology, but of pure greed.

@@jasongreathouse6661 Henderson's misplaced loyalty and his devotion to that ideal made him much more compelling to me. David was the true son of Peter Weyland. The latter created him so. And what could David do after his beloved father died? Create. His father lost the moral compass long before he died. So why should David have one. His only sense of morality was inherited by Peter Weyland, whom I presume was the sole teacher of David. This explains Alien Covenant more.

I never really caught on to the ‘Prometheus timeline’ where Ridley Scott basically took out all the mystery from the original film. To me, it feels like an alternative timeline. The Space Jockey really looked like an alien life form and not some overgrown mime with weird armor or helmet. Dark Horse comics took that root with their series of Aliens comics back in the late 80s.

This is why I always thought that Prometheus ruined Alien. WY was a lot better as this massive unknowable entity. Yeah, the Xenomorph was bad but WY was the true villain of the series and all the horror that the team went through on the Nostromo was made in some board room somewhere where someone was like “Yeah, these people will die in horrific deaths but it’s like seven people and our profits will go up massively from this.” Then Prometheus ruins everything by making it way more personal with the alien.
