It seems Dr. Hong misheard Dr. Peterson use the word “non-trivial” (i.e. not a negligent amount) as “non-traditional”…very different words in this case! Perhaps that changes something of one of your interpretations? He acknowledges that there are a fair number of people who embody traits associated with those of the opposite sex. I don’t think he’s necessarily advocating for a return to tradition/simplicity of male/female, but rather going against (what is peddled) that if someone is not stereotypically “a woman”, then they must be a “man” and are trapped in a woman’s body. It would seem that he would agree that there is more than one way for a woman to be a woman, and for a man to be a man. Just because, for instance, a boy (a non-trivial amount of them) embodies traits that are generically feminine, does not mean that they are actually female (despite what they are told by radical pro-transgender types). There are more ways than one to be a boy, and undergoing surgery because one doesn’t fit the cookie-cutter construct of what a “boy” is (to become a girl) would actually be a detriment to them, possibly. A feminine boy is just that…becoming a girl won’t solve the issue is what I think he’s saying. They are becoming less of themselves (feminine boy) and something else entirely (transgender girl), BECAUSE of this hot-button rhetoric that is being pushed by radical activists. Advocating for feminine men/boys and masculine women/girls to be themselves without being ideologically pressured to have to “transition” is what I think he supports…certainly not a return to “tradition” in the Christian sense (which would not embrace feminine boys or masculine girls as “proper”, per se… That’s what I THINK he was going for, but maybe I missed the mark entirely. I’m a music major, after all, so what do I know… But overall, great chat, guys, and I enjoyed listening! 🙂

I’m with Pye in how he heard the conversation. It’s fascinating listening to how Dr. Glen heard it! I would love to listen to more controversial topics be broken down like this between you two!

Indeed, it was an interesting experience for both of us! We both heard it very differently.

Prager U has a KZbin video called Jordan Peterson debunks intersectionality. I wonder how Dr Glen would respond to that video?

We'll have to check it out.

As I commented in the first part, the tone is justified when professional organisations and doctors mislead minors into having irreversible surgical interventions in the name of an ideology and not based on scientific evidence. Maybe it's your relaxed condense ending attitude of 'haha why is he so mad' is the one that isn't appropriate given the situation. No? Anyhow, good conversation in general

Intersectionality is silly to me because the greatest minority is the individual, not some neo-marxist inflation of people's race and gender in their identity (and yes critical theorists say that gender and sex are separate but that's not how they act.) The individual isn't black therefore black people think and vote like this if they're really black, and they're women and they're only women if they attack the patriarchy and support abortion, and they're Trans but only Trans if they think gender is a spectrum and disphoria is more than just women wanting to be men and men wanting to be women.

I liked both of your reaction videos but I think you consider Peterson to be more religiously fundemalist than he is. You indicated that he wants come back to times where homosexuality wasnt considered normal but I dont remember him saying that homosexuality is something bad. Also from your video it seems that JP considers being man with feminine characteristics and vice versa as bad thing but I dont think that is really his view. I think he believes that lot of trans people (especially children) are man with feminine characteristics and vice versa who do mistake that they try to change their bodies to align with their feminine/masculine characteristics instead of embracing having characteristics which are not typical for their sex.

you guys should check other videos of JP before debunking his opinion on this issue...

Be great if people actually watched the podcast before commenting, we didn't debunk his opinion. We supported it, we just didn't fully support how it was communicated.
