Bliss Foster, as someone who is newly and I mean NEWLY (about a month ago) into fashion, this channel has brought everything I needed to fully itch that "creative" spot in my brain. Constantly learning new things about garments, fabrics, designers, etc is just so much fun. I was fully unaware of what fashion week was. However, after searching up "what is fashion week" and watching this video, I am now fully aware of this spectacle. I love love love this video and I just really want you to know how appreciative I am of this masterpiece. This S tier, cream of the crop content that makes me so glad be alive and well.

@@markpb4767 Supposing you are right (I’ve no idea), mental illness is not incompatible with performing at a high level in virtually any field. As to the show this year by Owens, I thought the contortionists and the person held aloft with a flag were “over-the-top” (in a way that isn’t “for me”), but live and let live.

The intensity of your Undercover was impactful. The show attendees at the Comme des Garçons show is interesting further driving authenticity. I loved your analysis of how Rei drives menswear forward. Your journey with Colm has been fascinating. I love your comments about Ziggy and the connection to sustainability in regards to taking clothes with you through life. I am a fashion designer who dreams about the Paris fashion week. I actually subscribed to your chanel after watching one of your Paris fashion week videos. This video so far is the best. I feel like I peeked into the soul of so many designers I admire forever. The best gift this video gave me is the realization how much the artistic expression is different, we care about very similar things. Also the deep dive into the fabrics was a candy I didn't expected. I came into fashion from textile background, I am lost for words how much enjoyable it was.

The Comme des Garcons show seems to me to be doing a huge amount of referencing of the 1600s/1700s: - those ruffles look like ruffs in the way that the shape of the ruffles is teardrop shaped (in the 15- and 16-00s there were very specific irons used to give that very precise shape); - headpieces are a big part of the brand, but all the bows seem 1600s to me, as they were a popular motif in that century (they were still popular before and after, but when I think 1600s, I assume that most dresses will have at least one bow somewhere, plus there's bows on the shoes in this show, as well as on many shoes of the period). Plus wigs on men were massively popular and had a similar sort of ostentatiousness as these headpieces; - the length of the shorts is a bit suggestive (longer than in the period, but with everything else, it feels like it's in the mix); - then you get that coat at 1:18:50 with the top button done and the coat flaring away, then the longer version - this is a reference more firmly in the 1700s. You get the 1700s again with the coats buttoned from the neck down to the crotch, then with one or two buttons undone past the crotch, the coat ending on the upper thigh (those often have a bit of volume around the thigh, both in the show and in the time period); - there's that purple and gold filigree print that any nobleman/woman would have torn off the model, reworked, and worn all over town - and then the gold and black floral one, same deal; - for a good bit of history, intense black was a hard color to achieve due to how hard it is to get that color by dying (this would be a more accidental reference, as black is such a common color now for everyone), though some of the black pieces have the black on black jacquard on them that I also associate with the period; - the flounces on the shorts at 1:20:40 look like flounces that would usually be worn on sleeves in the period, and some of the layering of fabric looks 1700s to me in a way I can't quite pin down. I don't know if the 1600s/1700s was a conscious reference, but it doesn't seem like an accident that all this stuff popped out at me (an armchair historian who follows all the historical costuming channels) when none of the other shows sparked that kind of recognition. Maybe they've looked at enough historical clothing for it to sink into some of their collections - but whatever the case, it's fascinating to see a bunch of this historical stuff coincide with decidedly modern fashion. It seems to me that when most fashion houses decide to make a Historical Fashion Statement, they don't blend their own work with the old styles nearly as much (they often make the shape of the garments correct for the period, then use unconventional materials). We're not seeing trademark silhouettes from the 1600s/1700s, but so much else is so evocative. I'll admit I didn't love this collection aesthetically, but it is the one I've thought the most about. Anyone else see this? What do you think? I used "How to Read a Dress" by Lydia Edwards to make sure I didn't go totally off piste with this idea.

My personal take on Jean Paul Gaultier and his brand’s (very much well-deserved) successful pivot into becoming a sort of launching pad for talented up and coming designers in the industry is due to a couple of factors. Firstly, they’ve had great taste in collaborators, and they seem to just get better and better (here’s hoping that one day they’ll manage to convince Christian Lacroix to come out of retirement for a collection!). Secondly, JPG has an absolute incredible archive of iconic designs and collections for these collaborators to pull inspiration from. JPG’s aesthetic oeuvre is so wonderfully diverse and eclectic; he’s kind of like Galliano in how his collections were inspired by an exceedingly varied array of different influences and references from across history, art, fashion, cultures, subcultures, all combined with a sense of humor, curiosity and whimsy that made the man and his brand the legendary icon status in the industry that he and they both deserve.

The blue jean one that’s bright on the inside and dark on the outside? If so, strong agree. Behind the Geoffrey shirt I mentioned at the end, that jacket is the highlight of the week for me 💫💫

I always thought the show itself not just the models or clothes is a piece of art as well and when it comes together it should make you feel something

This is the first video I’ve ever come across by you and oh my! I’m so grateful. I recently took up sewing as a hobby and watch fashion shows casually for inspiration. Your videos allowed me to go deeper in this passion and experience fashion for what it truly is: a wonderful and exciting art form. Thank you ❤

First vid I ever saw from you two. Just popped up in my feed. Very good. Love the in-depth analysis of the clothes, and your interpretations. I did make it from beginning to end in two sittings, and will check out more of your videos. And yes, the twilly hermes mens shirt! Stroke of genius.

Almost at the end and it was such a precious insight ! Thank you for all the work. I feel like you’re slowly getting recognition from the fashion world, and it’s great to see it. And yes, La Bise is a very successful virus transmitter, don’t get sick just for the sake of being polite ! (Also consider wearing a face mask/respirator in crowded places, and/or using anti-viral sprays.)

Thank you for pointing out the bravery it takes for an artist to put on display their 'I don't know yet'. *and that this one pulled it off with confidence.

hed mayner's clothes were so sexy with the flashes of skin (but some of the models were concerningly skinny - maybe they're just young/street casted)
