Gonna be real with everyone, videos like this take an enormous amount of time and money to produce ⬇️ ➖ My partner and I plan, film, write, and edit everything. ➖ This is my dream job, but I can’t do this alone. ➖ If you get value out of these videos, support the channel on Patreon. I paused this to go become a patron. I've been thinking about it for a while and today I realized the only reason I'm excited about fashion for the first time in years, and the only reason I'm in my sewing studio getting excited to create, is simply thanks to you. Keep up this incredible work! I can't wait to be even more a part of this community.

Damn, I just came across this channel because I was curious on why fashion weeks or shows happen. Your channel is incredibly informative, the coverage and the inspiration deep dive is so informative. I've never found shows interesting before and your explanations on them really made me want to learn more about it. Also, kudos on the incredible amount of shows you had to film. I imagine getting invited to shows like these isn't easy and you probably had to pay for the trip to Paris, transport etc not to mention the time it took to make a whole 11/2 hr video. Thank you for covering so much of the show although nobody except for your subscribers are supporting it. Although, in my opinion, coverage like this should exist way more. Hopefully in the future we can see the designers/showrunners talk or give more interviews about the whole process of it all in different outlets so that a lot more people can be appreciative of them. Kinda feel like if they're putting so much money into these shows, they can create more buzz by going on tour and opening these up to regular people by paying for it, just like musicians. It would really open up larger markets and create way more buzz and money for them but thats just my opinion as a person new to all of this. Regardless, I hope more people take inspiration from your type of coverage and try to cover the fashion industry in a more accessible and informative way. Thank you for doing what you do.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I hope fashion receives better coverage from more sources as well, but honestly, I doubt that will ever happen. Publications believe they will only get traction through celebrity moments and lifestyle content. ➖ Either way, thank you for the kind words, this coverage takes a ton of time and a ton of money to create 💫💫

Agreed. Every collection has a story board. A meaning behind the designs. But I think some designers take the interpretation way too seriously and you end up with Jackson pollack on models often very unwearable. Crazy rich Asian kids love the darkness of the avante gard.

In terms of abstraction, Kei Ninomiya's show reminded me of Rothko paintings. Rothkos are so grand, so mesmerizing and drowns the viewer into the painting, even though the painting contains 0 subjects 0 motive, just paint. The way Ninomiya's show sort of drowns you into the clothes, drowns you into the collection to a point where you don't even realize time has passed is strikingly similar to a Rothko's effects on you.

I'm finally getting around to watching this (I know I'm a whole season late), some thoughts: 1) the Noir Kei Ninomiya show made me cry 2) Junya + Innerraum is a legendary combo 3) MMW's Givenchy is better than people give him credit for (but I'm biased cuz he's in my top 5 designers) 4) the braided effigies changed my brain chemistry, they're *fascinating*

The first Noir Kei Ninomiya look you showed literally made me gasp. This show makes a great case for the assertion you always make about fashion being art. There's something about the looks that made me emotional in a way I can't explain. Not really a fashion person. Hopefully this isn't offensive, but I mostly watch your channel because your voice is one of those I find soothing to listen to while I work or do something else. I usually just kind of glance at the fashion, but this video I actually watched start to finish

Also: thanks for turning me onto Jeanne Vicerial! Wow--the faces are so cool. I think the textile brings even more to the table in some ways than marble or other "more static" mediums. Fibers are just so dynamic to me. Especially when worn by someone, they sort of come to life and breathe, in a way, with temperature and humidity changes, you know? Sculpture is so incredible in it's potential to demonstrate movement and animation through an absolutely static, still medium, but I think textile brings something else to the table entirely. Maybe it was made to move.

Karu research is the future of fashion. We don’t need huge brands that are 100% commercial and only care about making money. A sustainable fashion future is small artisans making 1 of 1 or very small production and more of these which makes people buy from local brands rather than everyone buying italian, french or japnese brands. I think in 50 years we will move on to you personally knowing everyone who has made your clothes or at least know the name of the person who sells the clothes. Now people barely know anyone but the creative director.

If you really are interested in truly handwoven textiles from India, check out the collection from Weave of India. As in the Rogan textiles, the knowledge of the recipes for the dyes, patterns and application had become archived in one old man. I now only collect natural fiber, hand woven, hand dyed, hand painted and preferably vintage sarees. Each video is usually less than 20 mins.
