My biggest tip for studying with ADHD, is if you're studying via video, crank that speed up to 2.0 or 1.5/1.75 if they're fast speakers. I'm not sure why, but when the information is coming at me faster it's like my brain hyper fixates on it and I not only focus more but absorb the information WAY better. I basically just zone out during lectures, and then replay it on 2x afterward and everything actually clicks.

I have adhd and here’s what I do, Since I definitely cannot focus in my own home I always do all of my schoolwork, studying, and notes in the school library before, in between, and after classes. I’ve also found that physically recording important information helps me remember it better, I don’t do well with lectures so I usually just focus on taking notes from the textbook when the teacher is lecturing. If the teacher isn’t lecturing and there’s work to be done during class then I definitely try to follow along with the class and complete it, if I save it for later it won’t get done. Multitasking is a lie, it is the enemy. If you have ADHD don’t lie to yourself we can’t multitask.
@gayfrootloop63222 жыл бұрын
When I’m at school I have a school brain so I can get the work done, but when I’m at home I have a home brain and I cannot do school stuff. Work with that and use it to your advantage. Or if you don’t have a school library to do work and go to a public library.

My problem is I stare at my college work and distract myself with my phone because I don’t want to think about mentally straining, leading to sitting in front of the computer for days and not working (I’m self employed). Then I finish it last minute. And the cycle continues. I manage to get it done, and make very good grades, but I’m financially struggling now. I procrastinate so hard because I don’t wanna commit to the mental energy of doing school work. Then pay for it dearly later on. Even when I say “I’ll finish on this day” it doesn’t happen. 😢

Changing how I use a schedule and how I think about time really saved my studies. I work with a week schedule with only 1 true deadline day, Sunday evening. That way I always have to have done something by Sunday and never end up in a situation where I've nothing started for a deadline (I don't have classes on Monday, which helps to maintain this 'mindset'). I also really learned to embrace being flexible. If I can't study at 9 AM, then I won't force it. But from the moment I DO sit behind my desk, I don't get up. Let that hyper fixation help me for once instead of distracting me all the time. No matter if it's 9 PM or 3 AM, that's the time my brain has activated today, so I'm working with it. Not having any clocks around helps with this. If distractions happen a lot, then a timer or alarm is really handy. I have one for 2PM, 7pm and 11pm

As someone with ADD what helped me be really successful in college was planning. So I had an electronic agenda on my phone. I used an app on my phone called my study life and it kept me really Organized with assignments. The best way to take notes is cornell notes. I went to an avid school and growing up cornell notes was a huge deal. Till this day I still use cornell notes. For studying I would make quizlet cards and use its study aid. For reading I planned out my readings and to stay focus I used active reading which is highlighting and note taking after im done with a chapter. By doing this I made deans list 5 times in college and was always making As and Bs. I was also president of my student Pre-Law society as well as vice president of Alpha phi Sigma. Dont let anyone tell you you can't do it because of your Add/Adhd. I believe everyone with add/adhd can be successful and a high achieving student. We just learn differently ❤❤❤

I think I have adhd and also have a hard time deciding what’s important so heres what I do but it depends on the subject: 1) If it’s vocabulary I write the word and definition 2) it’s it’s a process I usually write the steps and then what the parts are 3) If it’s history I think that cause and effect things are important And then a general tip: I jot down things in the margins to keep me engaged (like funny things it makes me thing of) Also listening to an audio of someone reading it while I read is sometimes helpful.

I've been diagnosed with ADHD since I was in elementary school. I've only been medicated once, and my mother took me off because she thought it made me seem like a zombie. So I've been looking for ways to improve my academic performance. My ambition is to attend Columbia University and improve my ability to remember what I read. I've altered my study strategy. When I study, it usually takes me hours to complete a single chapter because I become distracted and my mind starts racing into other things. As a result, I try to split it up using headlines and subheadlines. I read one headline or subheadline and then try to paraphrase what the paragraph says. That last paragraph now makes sense to me. I take a 10-minute break before moving on to the next headline or subheadline. It takes me a while to finish the chapter, but if I do this with note-taking and then a break once I am done with each headline or subheadline, I remember what I am reading.

This is a fantastic video. Could you also please tell me how to set auditory cues. It sounds promising to me. Thanks for making this. Out of the dozens I’ve watched, this is the best one. No clutter, straight to the point. ♥️

You could use your phone but I bought an alarm clock so I wouldn’t end up being on my phone after the alarm went. There’s even a visual timer you can buy on Amazon. Meaning the time you have left is visualized in red and getting smaller as time goes on. Hard to explain without a picture 😂

I haven't taken a diagnosis to check if I have adhd (my parents didn't believe it), but I always have a lot of trouble and my grades have lowered a lot ever since my parents don't help me with homework like before (which is good, but I'm actually struggling a lot) But anyway, I think it's alright to use these kind of videos even if I don't have adhd, I've found these tips very useful and they've really helped me a lot :3

I really feel like shit. I have an exam in 8 days and I have no idea how to start studying. It’s not hard, it’s even a pretty interesting subject but I just can’t start. I have everything ready, perfect environment, perfect material, I’ve even bought new material. I’m just looking at KZbin videos or reels on Instagram😭😭😭

Hi Anna! Thank you for sharing this. It's really helpful for me as ADHD student. I want to read thick books but have struggle with that. If you don't mind, could you share how to get information from the book for ADHD student? Thank you so much 🙏

highlighters, colorful ones. divide the book into chunks with sticky notes or something. personalize it as much as possible. as long as you love what you are doing, it will be fine.

I don´t really know if I have ADHD but every time I listen to the symptoms almost all of them check out. The never ending internal monologue, the difficulties with studies, being distracted almost all the time the "weirdness" I guess? In my country getting diagnosed is quite expensive and I was quoted extra charges if I took too long in the test (I guess people with adhd take a long time in tests and that must be punished) and overall medication and treatment is almost non existing here (Honduras C.A). I´m desperate to find some kind of self help or treatment I can do by myself because I´ve been trying to complete college for the last 8 years (not always enrolled) taking some classes and many times retiring them (or cancelling) before they can affect my notes. But now I´m stuck on a industry I really hate (Sales) and want and need to go back to the industry I love that is Tech where I´ll be able to earn more and won´t have to worry about commissions and dealing with clients 24/7. Any help you can share? I´m desperate and right now getting professional help is not in the deck.

I’m not sure if I have adhd but this year is an exam year and I’ve tried all the neurotypical study tips and they’ve done jack shit for me I have trouble with fidgeting I need breaks more often and can’t pay attention i end up hyperfixtating on stuff and don’t have time to study plus many more symptoms and I just end up having a breakdown because I feel so stupid but everyone thinks I need to apply myself so I’m taking matter into my own hands and testing out adhd study hacks this year so I don’t fail my junior cert wish me luck! 😀
