Amazing, exactly how it looks in the reality. The squeeze factor is very different from a simple crop because you get i.e the distortion of a 50mm but the angle of a 25mm which is the purpose of anamorphic lenses in the first place.

great video. I got hung up in the process when not making my flare texture 32 bit. can't wait to make some custom kernels and play with this. there have been so many work-arounds on marketplace so I'm glad it finally works in-camera. I wonder if there's a way to get multiple kernals in there reacting to camera and doing parallax against eachother. Similar to the old Optical Flares after effects plugin
@Flipside3D2 жыл бұрын
Cheers, I kinda wish the flare would work without using the convolution bloom. Even if you go through and make the custom kernels in 32 bit you are still left with the performance issue. I doubt my machine could handle convolution bloom with a complex scene. I would love to know if there is a plugin that allows for similar kind of flares with minimal performance impact

Great video. Does it add any barrel distortion
@Flipside3D2 жыл бұрын
Nope not that I can see but this is easily achieved by a post process material. Check out Alex Tucker's blog on Artstation. I should have mentioned this in the video, maybe I'll make a separate video for this and anything extra that comes up.

Hi there is a new 'preview' 5.1 version you can download from the launcher. The squeeze parameter is in 5.1 not 5.0.3

Cool! Thanks. Does it have to be 2:1 format or is there a way to achieve the anamorphic bokeh in a 16:9 aspect ratio?
@Flipside3D2 жыл бұрын
Hi short answer is anamorphic bokeh can be in any aspect ratio it doesn't matter. You just have to account for the aspect ratio you want to end up with, the squeeze factor you want to use and figure out what your filmback size has to be to begin with. (Final Aspect ratio = Squeeze factor X Sensor(filmback) ratio) Long answer is anamorphic squeeze doesn't directly affect the aspect ratio of your final image. A real anamorphic lens will squeeze your image vertically (x2 for x2 lenses, x1.5 for x1.5 lenses and so on). So your raw footage will look whacky and vertically stretched. You then have to 'desqueeze' the image in post by the right amount to get the right proportions. So as a by product of this process you end up with a much wider aspect ratio than what you recorded (obviously depends on the squeeze factor of the lens). So Unreal bypasses this squeeze/desqueeze process entirely, negating the need to know all this but it's really good to know what it's mimicking in the fist place.

@Flipside3D Жыл бұрын
may the post process volume isn't set to affect where you're looking? If you followed the bloom settings in the video, there is no way that it wouldn't affect it. I suggest you do a test in a fresh project to deduct where the issue is
