qe2 is such an aesthetic move. Possible to spot when you're further down the line, but Vishy saw it from miles away. There's a reason he's considered one of the top tactical players ever!

I really enjoy Ben Finegold's take on this game. Bacrot played Re1 to prevent Qe2 and as a response Anand played Qe2. It's a different level of outclassing someone when you play a move to prevent a move and your opponent plays it anyway.

I think queen to e2 is more incredible than the rook move. Im 1800 and i can find the rook move easily, but not the queen move, it's simply brilliant. You need brilliancy not just logical.

I am little less than 1800 but found Qe2 move. If you have one or two mins to think you will easily find these moves.

I too found Rb8 but didn't find Qe2 . However I found it only as a given puzzle. In reality I would have captured the strong bishop

Those are the moves that make my jaw drop. To find them requires something else. I'm 1700 and I also found the rook move quickly after realizing the knight was covering the queens options to help the kingside defense. Anand is a master of masters.

He would have exchanged 9 points of material for 8 points of material, would have had doubled rooks in the a file to capture another pawn (making 9 points and thus equal to the value of the queen) and would have two connected pawns in open space.

Around that time i have beaten Fritz 8 once, but only once out of i don't know how many games. And it was clearly an engine mistake because no human would fall for my trickery. I had an attack going on the H file, which Fritz also saw. But i tricked the engine by putting another piece on the H file and remove it afterwards and somehow Fritz was confused. Then Fritz played a nonsense pawn move on the other side of the board and got mated.

Can someone explain why at 3:27, capturing the black knight at d5 is not a better move as it wins you the bishop at b4? Knight/bishop captures knight at d5 Pawn captures at d5 Queen takes bishop at b4 What am I missing?

Knight is under the pin and cannot move. If you capture it with the bishop, black will first capture the knight and only then capture the bishop. White is worse without the fianchetto bishop on g7

nc3 is pinned, if bishop takes knight then bishop takes nc3 with check, pawn/queen takes nc3, queen takes bd5 it's better for black.

You know you're done in when the engine is recommending you lose 9 points instead of 3. Its basically the computers way of saying you may be able to lose slightly slower if you do it this way.
