That was enlightening to say the least. I am meditating on your teaching and will play it again. We just got slapped down in church with this account of Ananias and Sapphira, it always pertains to God's severe judgement for robbing Him of money. Be in fear if you don't give the Church enough money. Or if you hold back your money...( like maybe you have bills that need to be paid) instead of giving it to the Church. You read this account in Acts and it just leaves you hanging. So this video was the best interpretation of it that I've heard so far. Thank you

At the first sign of the rise of Agrippa, Simon Magus was deposed as Pope. His fall is recorded in the story of Ananias and Sapphira, who were both rebuked by Peter for financial wrongdoing, and immediately 'fell down and died' (were excommunicated), the usual fate of a fallen Pope & his associate. (Spiritual death, not physical).

Very well said! That's the same way I came to the conclusion that they were unbelievers. Revelation of the gospel of Christ! There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Also, Peter told Ananias that he didn't lie to them, he lied to the Holy Spirit! Faking like they were saved! Good stuff!

Regardless of whether or not they said a prayer, believed in their heart or not, they are still God's children and nothing could possibly separate them from the Love of God. Not even themselves. God did not kill Ananias and Sapphira.

Brother I am respectfully submitting that 1st Corinthians 11:26-34 seems to disagree with what you are saying about the Lord's judgement on believers that are behaving in a carnal way. As for an example, in this case, it was concerning their abuses in regard to properly taking "Communion" together.
@nightlight18555 ай бұрын
Could this be different though as it pertains to the whole church acting in sin? It feels like either of you could be correct but it also seems like the Church in Corinthia had been doing this for a while which is why it had to be addressed and those who died in this passage weren’t struck down but had died because of a sin that they were doing in the long term without repentance. It also feels a little different as they were not honoring Christ and as He is God they were dishonoring God himself not just the Church. But these are just my thoughts and you posted this 3 years ago but it is a difficult subject and one that only God can fully give the truth on.

I heard Lynn Hiles say that the names Annaias and Sapphira means law and grace and that they represent that mixture of law and grace which brings death. A little bit of law/works and it is no longer grace. Also, the New Covenant began with Jesus, but the Old Covenant age didn't end until 70 a.d. so Old Covenant judgments were still falling on the jews who were under the law at that time.

I think you bring up a lot of good points but I really disagree with the fact that they are Pharisees. I don't see enough evidence for that conclusion to be drawn as concrete. I do believe that there were people trying to undermine the church but I don't think that this specific instance was Pharisees. When you talk about "No one else dared join them" it's talking about the desciples doing miracles in Solomon's Colonnade. It's moved past the instance of Ananias and Sapphira
@glennrobinson71933 жыл бұрын
I think Ananias and Saphira were believers(even the devils believe! and, not everyone who says Lord, Lord), but they were acting on the treachery and covetousness that remained in their hearts that led them to obey THEIR master (satan) and to lie to the Holy Ghost. It's not just lying that was their sin. It's WHO they lied to. If you lie in a court of law this is far more serious than lying to a friend, neighbour, relative etc.
@brathajoe13 жыл бұрын
Amen.
@awakentruth11162 жыл бұрын
What makes you think they were born again believers?
@glennrobinson71932 жыл бұрын
@@awakentruth1116 I didn't say I think they may have been born again believers I said believers. Big difference; 90% of Americans "believe". That is, believe in God and believe in the historical facts about Christ's atoning death & resurrection. Or let's say they believe they've believers but they have not received saving grace through faith.
@dmeek20 Жыл бұрын
I know what you mean, but I think it's important to differentiate. "Believer" and "born again believer" are different, yes. However, it's probably more helpful to not have to use such similar terms. Christians say "believer" as a short hand way to say that someone has been "regenerated by the Holy Sprit through faith in Christ". So it's probably good to be clear on what we mean. I don't think it had to do with WHO they lied to, since all sin is technically an offense against God. Jesus makes this clear in Matthew 25, when He says, "Then he will answer them, saying, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.'" The penalty was God's protection of His infant church, and not allowing it to be corrupted right at the start, and also giving validity to the apostles' message.
@co9971 Жыл бұрын
I think it makes sense that they were non-believers that infiltrated the church. it would be like partaking of the emblems during communion, all the while knowing that you are not a believer. that would be blasphemy against the holy spirit.
@chirho100 Жыл бұрын
This story causes me struggle, this feels much like Old Testament, it makes sense since the Lord changes not. If this couple didn’t give they would of lived, is how I understand it. My question is would they have lived if they was honest and said yes we kept a portion to ourselves? Is their souls in heaven or hell? The devil did guide them to lie, I get it, I believe the couple didn’t have faith, and wanted a fail safe, just in case giving to the church didn’t turn out. It causes fear and seeking questions and answers about Jesus Christ. This is a lesson not to grieve or offend the Holy Ghost. I am hurt because of this doctrine and my faith is hurting, but i still choose to believe in Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior, may the devil not use this doctrine to hurt men’s faith.
@ivangodin1850 Жыл бұрын
Let's keep in mind that God taking away a life is often to make a point. A serious one. But that does not necessarily mean that ananias and Saphira were sent to hell. If lying to God was sufficient for that, none of us would ever see heaven. Remember Uzza who dared touch the Ark? God took his life, but I doubt he was sent to hell for it

They lied about giving all their money instead of just being honest about giving some of it and keep the rest for themselves. They wanted the praise of men for giving all they had to God's church when they didn't. They broke one of the commandments thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

Jesus healed all that were oppressed of the devil. All those that Jesus healed were unbelievers .. he never killed any of them. He went about doing good. Therefore I don’t believe God killed Annanias and Sapphira. Jesus is the express image of the invisible God.

Where does it says that they are not believers. It is just your assumption that they are unbelievers. If they are unbelievers Peter should have said your heart is not right with God repent or you shall perish like he said to Simon the Sorcerer who himself believed and was baptized

They knock at the door and say Lord we have prophesied and cast out demons in your name, obviously Christians, the Lord Jesus answers and says depart from me he worker of iniquity meaning worker of sin, I don't know you. There is also at least one verse concerning the blotting out of your name out of The Book of Life, which your name would have to be in the Book of Life to be blotted out, meaning you would have to be a believer in Christ to have your name blotted out. I agree you can't earn your way to heaven but you also can't be living in sin. I am struggling with this myself. I believe we can mess up maybe time from time but we can't be at worker of sin. I believe these examples I gave her very correct. These are not word for word quotes but they pretty much are. Just as I can't believe Jesus will save me and kill a million babies and then die and go to heaven. Jesus also gave The Sermon on the Mount, he tells who will enter Heaven and who will not. Such as those do not forgive others of what they do to them will not be forgiven of their sins. I strongly urge people to read The Sermon on the Mount King James Version Bible by the way I like your black clothes and your shirt with all the pyramid shapes on them. Maybe just a coincidence but that is the same symbology has the Freemasons in the luciferians wear. I would love to hear what you have to say about what I said and the above. Also when Jesus healed people, he told them to sin no more. I am just asking these questions not attacking because there is something in the Bible about the blind leading the blind. Also but I said that the first of my message AR in fact in the Bible, about the blotting out of names, about knocking at the door and Jesus answers depart from me you worker of iniquity I don't know you. This to me is very obviously Christians that did something wrong. There is no other way to describe it. If you have any other way to describe this, please let me know.

Actually there were many jews in the time of Jesus and the apostles who were not Christians that cast out demons. There's even an example in Acts chapter 19.

Uh what? You have added and not used what was presented. No one wants to say that Peter screwed up royally. As far as I can tell Peter did something stupid before the Lord. He created a socialist commune. The next step was to hold children in common. He kept stepping in it. That's why Paul was needed and our Lord chose him. Paul, who caused the death of many Christians, became a champion of it. Paul was known to confront Peter....So, sorry this stuff you are saying sounds way off. Do you all recall when the town refused the apostles and they wanted to call fire down on it? Our Lord rebuked them. Peter just screwed up. He's been sticking it in his mouth since the beginning.

1Co 11:27-32 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. (28) But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. (29) For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. (30) For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. (31) For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. (32) But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. Gal 6:7-8 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (8) For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
