Hey ER. I think that worker ownership of the MoP would bring drastic positive consequences to the world. anarchism has its virtues I will posit, but I think Communism as described my Marx and Lenin is closer to the society we would all enjoy most. if you read Critique of the Gotha Programme you can see a fully laid out description of a socialist society by marx with labour vouchers and all. it’s quite interesting. either way comrade I think you’re doing good work to raise class consciousness. let’s have the proletariat rise up against he bourgeoisie!

To be honest, if your personal version of anarchism places emphasis on individual freedom, peaceful assembly, and has no trace of desire for using force to coerce others into submitting to your ideology (or punishing/killing them for having their own ideology), then I couldn’t care less what specific ideology you have. If you follow the Golden Rule and respect peoples right to individual freedom, we can coexist to mutual benefit.

"One of the fascinating facts of American politics today is that both progressives and conservatives hate their government. They just hate different parts of it, and they love and cherish the others. In foreign policy, for example, progressives hate the Pentagon, and love and cherish the State Department. Conservatives hate the State Department, and love and cherish the Pentagon... But none of them hates Washington as a whole. So they can never unite to destroy it, and the whole machine is stable. See how beautiful this is? By separating voters into two competing but cooperating parties, neither of which can destroy the other, the two-party system creates a government which will survive indefinitely, no matter how much happier its citizens might be without it." The issue with a lot of the communist countries that arose in the 20th century was that they devolved into dictatorships, which is an inherently un-communistic thing. Like ER says, these systems are not perfect, because they are run by imperfect humans. Communism didn't cause these dictatorships to arise, humans with a want for power caused this to happen. You can even look at the United States as an example of this. Capitalism doesn't cause a country to be run by money-grubbing shitbags, but ours sure is run by them. Both of these systems have their faults, their weaknesses. You know how we fix them? By using all of them at once to reach a balance. Adopting the ideals of only one system is like inbreeding; you have the genes of only one group, so all the ailments, weaknesses, and defects are the same, thus creating gaping holes for them to fall apart or become corrupt. We keep pretending we're a wolf, but we're really an inept dachshund pretending it doesn't have severe back problems.

Question for anarchists: How do you intend to achieve your goals? How would you maintain order? Protect individual rights?
@GenericProtagonist77 жыл бұрын
1.) We can't, period. Anarchy is globally opposed and it's impossible to start said society without someone stepping in. *cough* U.S *cough* 2.) This is depending on which school of anarchy you're using, Most schools (e.g Anarcho-capitalism, Anarcho-communism, Anarcho-primitivism) live by the rules of "eye for an eye" in most cases. You kill someone? You're dead. You steal something? They get their stuff back and something of yours. etc. 3.) This is why I like anarchy, the INDIVIDUAL protects his OWN rights.

Back in the day you were a socialist or an anarchist from the experience of class struggle in your work environment, from your trade union experience and your need to access a healthy and sustainable lifestyle not all tied to your salary. Nowadays a lot of the so-called anarchists are in reality children of the bourgeoisie in search of thrilling experiences and they often have no experience of working situations, low wages, need for kindergardens, etc.

The only thing you need to know about anarchy/communism is they are dead ideologies for 2 reasons. First its a non starter because one cannot abolish the concept of hierarchy without creating a hierarchy to enforce it. Secondly the hoi polloi found a better racket, western welfare programs.
@Jack-ic8ly7 жыл бұрын
Hung Solo in principle the bolshevik uprising should of been an uprising without leaders but needed leaders to usher in communism. Maybe if anarchy were to be achieved the idea behind the Bolshevik uprising (purely the people) could be implemented? This would require a huge level of angst and a real drive to change things across society

like anarchy? move to libya. you can buy a human for only $400!
@bodopeters18357 жыл бұрын
@Hung Solo How about hierarchies determined by competence and societal and communal gain? Not all hierarchies contradict anarchism (at least when talking about remotely realistic implementations, not utopias).
@hungsolo93907 жыл бұрын
Bodo Peters That's already how you rise in the hierarchy currently and there are no realistic ways of implementing anarchy.

What a bastardization of vanguardism. Nowhere did Lenin say people were too stupid to run things themselves. Vanguardism just realizes that not every worker will be totally interested in politics or politically educated, and that a vanguard of the most class conscious elements of the working class should structure the new socialist society. There is still room for input from common workers in that equation, the vanguard just wholly commits itself to organizing the revolution and building socialism while consulting with average proletarians. The vast majority of workers in Petrograd supported the Bolsheviks when they stormed the winter palace. You don't get that kind of support by calling everybody else stupid, and Lenin's ideas were pretty well-known at that point. "Workers' uprisings" that happened during the Russian Civil War were indeed crushed by the Bolsheviks and rightfully so. These "pure communists" who didn't think Bolshevik socialism was good enough were fracturing and weakening the revolutionary movement because of selfish idealism. If the Bolsheviks didn't win, the openly reactionary, proto-fascist, and monarchist white movement would have succeeded. The anarchists also were initially allowed to exist for a time by the Bolsheviks, but when they consistently failed to guard their flank against white forces, it was decided that they'd be crushed and annexed. Absorbing anarchist territory to defend against white forces in my mind was justified to protect the revolution, but admittedly it was carried out very brutally and most of the leaders were executed. The Soviet Union was much more democratic than western propaganda would have you believe, primarily under Lenin and Stalin, and power really began to concentrate in the general secretary position after the ascendance of Khrushchev which led to a less democratic system of political organization.

Jordan Petersen is a psychologist, and he lets psychology seep into his politics way too often. He never actually makes counter-points to other people's ideals. He literally thinks anybody who doesn't strictly adhere to centrist classical liberalism has some sort of unresolved psychological problem and that's why they espouse the political opinions they believe in. You can't debate somebody who has no interest in actually challenging your ideas and instead tries to imply you have underlying psychological and emotional issues because it's incredibly arrogant and intellectually dishonest of that person. On the other hand, Sam Harris does tend to focus on ideas more, but when you actually look into what he says regarding political issues, he espouses incredibly reactionary positions under the guise of rationality like most "new atheists." Harris has literally said Muslim countries are unable to be civilized, he thinks the Iraq War was a noble effort at "civilizing" that country, and he thinks European countries should directly control and dictate regions in the Middle East because he thinks Muslims are too barbaric to run their own countries adequately. He's a complete and open advocate of imperialism and neo-colonialism and anybody who thinks people in the third world are human beings should be utterly disgusted by what he says. His rhetoric is almost indistinguishable from the colonial mindset of "the white man's burden" which says that non-white peoples are barbaric and uncivilized and that it's the job of western countries to "civilize" them. He never actually mentions how the US has stood in the way of all secular progress in the Middle East, particularly nowadays by totally propping up and selling weapons to a reactionary Islamist-Wahhabi absolute monarchy called Saudi Arabia. Harris also frequently condemns Islam for terrorist attacks, but when it's mentioned to him that American and Israeli drone strikes and bombings kill tens of thousands of civilians a year, he takes the really weak position of "well the ideals of America and Israel are superior to the ideals of radical Islam and they take steps to not kill civilians so it's more justified." Of course he never actually explains how they take steps to avoid killing civilians, because they don't (evident by how many schools Israel has bombed and how many mosques and weddings the US has bombed), and he also doesn't acknowledge that many "terrorist groups" in the Middle East are only designated terrorists by the US because they rightfully resist western imperialism.
