With the point about seeing yourself as average, I liked the idea of standing up for yourself against disrespect, and also not being arrogant (both things which I have made mistakes with) but I think that “average” is not such a good thing to aim for. Ryan Holiday on his KZbin channel Daily Stoic recently uploaded a video for 2025 new years, explaining about picking a word e.g. “sane” to aim for like a “North Star”. I want to choose the words “strong”, “sincere” and “grateful”. I think aiming for average is a bad idea because you do not have to generally put all that much effort to be average (depending on your environment that is) and that as David Goggins says “if you hold yourself to a high standard it elevates everyone else around you” a bit like you holding yourself to a high standard with these KZbin videos :)

There is also a concept from Jocko Willink that I think is useful which is that “if you focus on the roadblock you are probably going to hit the roadblock” which is why I appreciate it when my Dad says focus on “grow, grow, grow”
