By the look of it... they knew the Ottomans would like come and take away girls... and I read ujust know on fandom wiki about Kosem Sultan aka Anastasie... she was a daughter of a greek merchant ( Probably a known and wealthy merchant by the look of it ) and someine drew a painting of her and that painting ended up in Istanbul where Sehzade Ahmed saw it and fell in love and order her to be capture and taken to his palace.

Actually that was Safiye Sultans doing. In the series, Ahmed had, indeed, fallen in love with a portrait of Anastasia (her father was a painter and had used her as a motive) and his 'dear' grandmother decided, to have the girl abducted and to gift her to Ahmed. Fun times, eh? But at least the rest of her family wasn't slaughtered before her eyes and her sister taken as well, which frequently happened during, for example Tatar raids at the time. (I'm not saying, this scene was historically accurate btw, just talking about these occurrences in a general manner).

@@raraavis7782 bruh. i bet irl the sister was also abducted, and her family killed, they would have definitely slaughtered the parents at least, for trying to fool them by hiding their daughters, if it was realistic . Stockholm syndrome is real but there’s no way that Anastasia would have refused to run away despite having so many opportunities thrown at her in the série, if her family was still alive and waiting for her in Greece, considering how much she loved them.

Started of as almost white blond, with blue eyes and peach like complexion. Now, as a teen, she is ashen blonde and still darkening. But sure, these changes did not happen overnight like with Kosem...
