An interesting approach to teaching - side by side demos tell you much more than a comparison after the fact.

Thank you! I think so too - it makes more sense when we see the process for the both versions and compare it stage by stage.

Although the painting on the right has more depth and dimension, i find the clouds in the left painting more soft and natural. 😅
@AnastasiaMily
@AnastasiaMily 6 ай бұрын
I do love the clouds on the left too! That's the thing with watercolour, when you paint wet into wet, it is almost impossible to recreate the exact same wash, and I love it because every piece is unique. But this video was not about painting clouds, it was about how I use colour to create harmony. Thanks for watching 😁

Beautiful! I have one question though. Why the white gap between the land and the sky? I don't know why but that I find that annoying. Of course I am one of those people that blends everything to death and has a very difficult time with negative space. I always feel that I need to fill it in with something.
@AnastasiaMily
@AnastasiaMily 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! When I paint my landscapes I am guided by the rhythm and the relationships between different elements of the scene - between the lights, the midtones, and the darks, and between the colours I choose for that particular scene, and not by trying to make something looks realistic. I use a lot of white space (the pure white of the paper) in my work to bring more depth and atmosphere to a scene, and to separate the different elements/areas of the landscape. In this particular one, the white line represents areas of morning fog to me, but it also separates the hills and the fields, making both areas stand out more, and the the same time pushing the hills further into the background, creating depth. I love how much "fresh air" the white brings into a landscape, but we are all different so you don't have to use it in your work - that's the beauty of art, we are all unique in our creative expression. What someone finds annoying can look lovely to another person, and vice versa.
