Sandra Huller reaches a rare level where the performance is so special that you enter a world where you completely forget you’re watching a film and feel as though you’re watching someone’s life unfold in front of you. This IS the character. One of the best monologues of the 21st century and quite possibly ever. Her performance in this movie is no short of the same ~level~ of any other great acting performance ever. Emma or Lilly will likely win due to more impactful movies overall, however, anyone who saw Anatomy of a Fall in theaters knows that Sandra Huller dominated comparatively

Its easy to be dismissive and say "oh haha its good acting because its loud," but this is just on another level to me. Its everything, the little pauses she takes between sentences, the liberties she takes with the script while shes caught up in the moment, her EYES.... its great

I'm usually in that crowd, but this is everything Marriage Story thought it was. In 10 minutes they set up more to earn this fight than the entire other movie.

This is way more organic and realistic than marriage story. I felt Adam Driver and Scarlet Johansen were overacting there, whilst this was amazing.

Not even that loud. She raises her voice but isn't overacting at all. A lesser performer would have been screaming the entire portion of dialogue here.

@@AnotherOpinion695 Annette is clearly the nomination that could have gone to someone else, but there were others I would put before Margot - both Greta Lee and Natalie Portman gave better performances this year.

@@DerMoerpler Oh Natalie was absolutely robbed, that movie deserved so much better. I would have personally taken out Annette and place Carey in supporting actress to put Greta and Margot in Best Actress. Idk the academy didn't seem to get it right for me at least but Greta absolutely needed to be up there!
@DerMoerpler5 ай бұрын
@@AnotherOpinion695 I didn't enjoy May December as much as most film fans seem to, but I can't deny that the script and performances were among the best of the year. I fully agree on taking out Annette, placing Carey in Supporting und give Lead nominations to Natalie and Greta (not that they would've had any chance of winning, but still). While we're at it, Charles Melton deserved a nomination as well. And replace Bradley Cooper or Colman Domingo with Zac Efron. Overall the nominations were pretty good for me this year, but with these changes I would have very little to complain about. P.S.: Almost forgot about Dial of Destiny getting a Best Score nomination over Across the Spiderverse, which might have been one of the biggest snubs this year.

I wish there was the whole scene. It’s such a perfectly crafted scene, it evolves so naturally into an argument that’s so believable and relatable. The part about how they both sacrifice their mother tongue to be together (speaking English when it’s neither of their languages) rang so true for anyone who’s been in a multilingual couple, or moved to a foreign country for their significant other.
