@singeou7649

@@jelhim No Anatomy of a fall was one of the last four candidates that France was considering to send. But due to the lack of popularity of French cinema in America, the comitee prefered security by sending The taste of things. To activate the French abroad cliché of Gastronomy and XIXth century supremacy in arts and way of living. Like Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Amélie. Those are touristic post-cards. They do not represent the great cinema we have. Some people also think that Justine Triet was punished for the speech she hold while receiving her Palme d'Or.

Turns out the reason is that ABC has rights to exclusively show all speeches for 30 days and it is only after that 30-day window that it shows up at the Oscars channel. This was the case for the past few years in fact. This year, 10 categories are subject to that 30-day embargo, and International Film is one of them. Note that there are still a few tech categories that have yet to be uploaded, including all 3 POOR THINGS tech wins, the OPPENHEIMER Editing and Cinematography wins, the Wes Anderson short film win and more. You can expect all of them show up after 30 days. Let's not forget that the Oscars channel posted Will Smith Oscar speech (which occurred right after the infamous slap), and even have Roman Polanski's Director win public too!

People seem to enjoy deceiving themselves. The Daily Mail first released the Depp-Heard audio tapes in February 2020, and they immediately shifted public opinion in favor of Depp. Triet is lying if she claims she wasn't aware of this. She didn't invent the audio angle in her film all by herself. I think it is clear by the weight given the audio in the film--it lasts a whole 10 minutes of screen time (yeah, I watched the film), that Triet's motivation for making this film was to discredit that audio evidence in favor of the "believe all women" narrative.

Hardly "well-deserved." This was a propaganda film intended by Triet to "retry" the Depp-Heard US trial, which she freely admitted and regarded as "misogynistic." Triet obviously was particularly upset by the influence of the audio recordings in exposing Heard's lies and exposing her as the abuser in the relationship. Triet's employing an audio recording in the film that made the accused sound like a "monster" was twisted around to show that it wasn't the "truth" with an absurd, unbelievable contrivance. This was a film whose purpose was a feminist design to alter reality and deny the truth with a manipulative, contrived story that made easy prey of the uninformed. Critical support for this was clearly politically-driven.
