The actor who played the defence lawyer was brilliant too. Why isn’t she on here too?

Kind of a spoiler here, but the casting choice for Holly Berry really bothered me, and pointed out just how forced and contrived the plot twist was later on. A different cast choice would have made it obvious but the choice they went with made it unrealistic.

Contrived? Forced? I saw nothing of the kind. I see people transform all the time. It is the stuff of life. Some folks don’t even notice how they shift and change, but others (like Holly) are HIGHLY motivated to do so. Also keep in mind that college aged women sometimes still have fat stores on them that, for some, is not anywhere near as present as they get older. I believe she wanted to make herself less feminine, less fertile, and less vulnerable. A lot of women with eating disorders are partially fueled by past trauma, some of which can be sexual assault or molestation trauma. Without being a full blown disorder Holly’s system could have rightly assessed that being in fighting shape AND looking unrecognizable, would be essential to her future. She was always smart and driven, she chose to train herself for the only future she saw open to her. She wanted to be in control. Plus, honestly, who looks like Michelle Dockery? Or Sienna Miller for that matter? It’s like trying to cast someone in a biopic about Audrey Hepburn...no one looks like that! These are wildly unique women. I’m always heartened and surprised by the high school pictures of great beauties. I think the gals they chose were striking and displayed the key differences between the two ladies very well. There was no forced or contrived plot twist and the casting was limited by the fact that every human is unique. Nothing unrealistic about it. Holly was more voluptuous than Kate because life has not yet beat that out of her. ‘Nuff said.
