Theyre amazing live, saw them a few months ago. The person eq'ing this sucks at it. you dont get the ambience of the room also, just the direct line from the boxes. If you have the chance to see them live, take it

I think I've actually commented this before... but this is by far the best I've ever heard these guys live. I watched them in Louisville when the play with Story of the Year back in '05 and wasn't very impressed. Stephen is incredible, but he overdubs a bit too much in the studio. Finally having more than one person to help him out with vocals on stage makes a huge difference.

the producer made anberlin's sound in this song's recorded version sound amazing (along with the rest of the album). They do a good job of making it sound as best as it did on the album. Kudos to them. I saw them live at warped tour at the gorge in washington and they sounded great. It took me a while to get used to their recorded music (cuase its not typically my style) and they are now my current favorite band.

Greg- i just listened to Dissapear, and i have to concur they are very very simular. I would attribute this to their lack of diversity within their own music.. I think both are good, and I just saw Anberlin live and i was blown away. I am a new listener though.. but i just appreciate their unique style and their message..so i feel for ya but....

They already are. Christian used to be pretty bad live (back in 04 and such) this video is from early last year, if not late '07 and they have gotten to be VERY good recently..

musicians and bands progress from album to album, cities is amazing, its gonna be damn hard to match. but give them credit where it is due New Surrender is a different album, and no band (except greenday) would want to make the same album twice. -wearing black clothing does not change a bands image or make them look dark, it means they decided to wear black. -if you have seen anberlin live you would know that they arent trying to hard. they are a highly energetic band, its how they roll.

its live sound they soundcheck once, maybe, twice, and the soundguy has like maybe 10 mintes to make them sound good as opposed to the hours or even days they take do this in the studio so its mostly the lack of mixing that makes them sound a bit flat, or whatever
