More Russ is good. It's not like ETA Prime where I swear he just pumps out videos talking about the exact same Linux based nonsense, and the editing in those videos get noticably worse. I've yet to see an editing mistake in Russ's videos.

Actually feels very fair for the price point. The 353P feels amazing in my hands and handles well with all the games and systems i want for it. This will be great for people that want a more comfortable handheld compared to most boxey emulators and nostalgia helps with the snes design.

I’m not normally big on Powkiddy but the x55 at $80 with a nice big 720p display is a flat out better deal right now. It also looks to have really nice ergonomics.

When you cut the strap off of the case, you could leave a bit of slack (maybe a quarter of an inch or less) and stitch the ends of that slack together. I'm no sewing expert, but I would consider this easy. This would make a small loop which you could attach your own lanyard of choice. It would probably even look nicer than having the frayed edges where you cut the original strap.

this case is totally a synthetic blend, if you're gonna light the loose thread of it on fire they're probably going to melt and become really hard. but it should have a tag on it, mentioning what it's made out of. if it's a real cloth blend give the fire a go but definitely don't burn synthetic blends, they can be annoyingly messy and if you get some of the molten plastic on you it can burn you really bad. even if you think the cloth is real, always check out the tag because they can be including plastic fibers in like anything and it's not actually always that easy to tell.

I’ve just received mine and after going mad with these emulators, I now have about seven or so, so I could compare. My other ones are: RP3+, RG280V, 351P, 353VS, 35XX, Data Frog SF2000. I also have a few Vitas, including both generations. Out of all these emulators, I like the 353PS and the 280V the most and I’ll give the 35XX to my young son for Christmas. Anyway, the 280V made me like portable gaming, while the 353PS made me actually try to play games that I last played as arcade over thirty years ago. I don’t like the shape and size, but in use, it’s absolutely brilliant, just like the Vita is. I only wish they used the same plastic as they did with the VS and that made it a little bit thinner as there is plenty of space inside the shell. I used Temu discount for both 35XX and 353PS, so with the £25-30 off, they are excellent devices. If I liked Android and didn’t mind chucking a more expensive device around, I’d keep the Retroid. However, at this price, the 353PS is the absolute winner.

Got a couple of these and used the Stark OS tutorial to set up mostly 8 and 16 Bit era games plus a few Arcade favorites and oh man I couldn’t love this more… got a few protection cases and everything is doing great Thanks as always Russ

Idk how to explain but the strap inside the case is very important because when you are on the go like in a train or something. You might unzip it like verticaly and the rg353ps might fall out. Thanks for reading this comment 😁 have a nice day

Inside strap is in case someone was careless while opening the case. It might fall off and get damaged. I wouldn't cut it personally.

I have both (353M actually, no P) and I 351P on amberlec feels much snappier tha the 353M on ArkOS, even some games plays best o 351P, I'm havin some stuttering on GBC emulation on 353M, still like it anyway.

I bought one of each color of the RG35XX and gifted the gray and white ones and gotta say I think the clear purple is the least enjoyable. It’s not quite purple enough and almost looks like they ran out of color. Think I’ll be getting the DMG color way. Great video Russ!

With smaller bezels, a 4" screen and bigger buttons, this would be the perfect SNES handheld. It's frustrating how much empty space there is on this model. One day we will get such a device.. One day :')

After selling my Switch Lite two days ago because the left analog stopped working when moving it to the right, I might finally get one of these Chinese handhelds I refused to buy for years. The Abernic I want is the RG405M that Russ covered last month. I saw a Retro Gaming Guy video about it yesterday and he was raving about that it's his favorite retro gaming handheld at the moment. And he recently sold his Steam Deck because he never could find time playing it. Or I may just go for the Steam Deck. The Pimax Portal is another option but I want more power. It all depends on how much money I win with my NBA bets next month. I'm trying to be more selective because I'm trying to decrease the gadget clutter in my household. Selling my Switch Lite made me appreciate my Vita slim so much more. And I was ready to sell my Vita only a month ago! But I've had it for 6 years and it's still extremely dependable. No analog stick issues. Way better d-pad. Still holds a great charge. Sony>Nintendo for me. This RG353PS looks pretty badass just because I love the SNES controller so much. Seems like a cool new handheld gets released every single month. It will eventually get saturated. Only a few will truly prevail especially in the PC handheld space. I think I'm leaning towards Steam Deck over the ROG Ally to save the $200. I couldn't care less if the Deck has only 64 GB. I saw ETA Prime had a community post about a 1 TB microSD selling for under $80. Great deal. That $400 price trumps the $600 low-end ROG Ally for me even with the Deck's inferior specs. All I know is never again with Nintendo. First hardware failure from them after 35 years owning several of their home consoles and handhelds. My Switch Lite was my first Nintendo product in 15 years and it was only good for 7 months. That's a no-go with Nintendo. That means no Switch 2 for me. I guess I won't re-download my Switch games from my Nintendo account any more. If I do want to play more recent Nintendo games, it won't really be recent because I'll wait years to emulate it. My favorite gaming companies are Sony, Sega, Namco (Bandai), Square Enix. I generally like Capcom and Konami too. All the Japanese developers I grew up on during the 90s. Those are the ones I want to keep supporting with my money. Them and Gabe. Nintendo hasn't really captured my imagination since the Super Nintendo. Got mine and I have to say it's an excellent device, with arkos. All the systems I love are working very nicely, excepted psp (forget the most demanding games, you will be disappointed). Could potentially be my desert island handheld :)

I recently had a 353PS and I realized that it has a V2 screen: and this means that when we enter and exit the games we will see flickering and longer times for the game to appear than on a V1 screen. A pity: apparently the error is the video driver for arkOS! 😓

The strap on the outside of the case you can just tuck in to the case since it is on the zipper side. I have a couple official Nintendo DS / 3Ds cases like this.

yeah, i definitely don't really like random weird bootleg games. rom hacks aren't necessarily bad imo because i do enjoy smw central and all the new versions of super mario world i get to play. the smw rom hacking community is awesome.

Russ, The wide strap inside the case for this ambernic. I do the samething with my Miyoo Mini Plus case I just rest it on top of the strap. I don’t keep putting it in the strap. The case pretty much holds the device, pretty secure, and it’s got a little bit of a hard shell to it with it being coated with soft material. I was thinking about cutting that strap off inside the case but I’m just leaving it there. Just in case, I need to tuck something underneath it. Who knows, maybe a big microfiber wipe cloth or a longer charge cable.

Not sure if this helps. But I just switched over from stock anbernic OS to ArkOS on the 351V - didn’t touch the games, everything still works. I had some issues initially booting n64, psp, Dreamcast roms, but setting the emulator manually to retroarch before booting the game fixed it

There is a fair amount of compatibility between them but I wouldn’t say they are interchangeable. For example, where they store their save files can vary by firmware, and sometimes folder naming will differ too. So it’s close enough to do some testing but not something I would recommend for long term use.

Help! I think I bricked my device 😢. When i put the memory with the arkos image in my RGp535ps and turn it on I forgot that I was trying a game with the stock firmware so when I booted up the device tried to continue the game and then the screen turn black and it powered off. It powers on but the screen remains black.

The amount of RAM won’t affect emulation performance, but it may make some ports load a bit more slowly. The 2GB RAM was more essential on the Android side. This was a similar setup with the RG353V and RG353VS last year, and performance ended up being fine with the 1GB model.

I'm the opposite. Android on their closed devices will be abandoned and never updated. Google are getting more strict with allowing current SDK on Play Store. I expect in a few years you won't be able to install things from Play Store on an RP3+ with Android 11. OTOH Linux will be carried by the community for many years with improvements and new emulators/ports. Android-only handhelds will give an inferior long term ownership imo
