This is a milestone… incredibly well-done, hand-drawn animation (for a 60s TV anime series, but even beyond that). In addition: Music that radiates dignity and awe. It‘s just so aesthetic.

Tezuka Osamu who created Jungle Emperor is the man who created the foundations of Japanese manga and animation. He made 604 cartoons and 70 animations in his lifetime. these are Astro Boy, Phoenix, Dororo, Black Jack, etc. He was a doctor and a genius. If he hadn't been born, there would have been no Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, and Demon Slayer.
@MrPGC1376 ай бұрын
He was also a research scientist & wrote numerous articles & papers for several scientific journals & periodicals in Japan. That on top of managing his animation studio _and_ maintaining a grueling schedule of writing & illustrating hundreds of pages of Manga. How on earth he managed to find time to do it all is still baffling to me...
I remember seeing the opening sequence at a convention once a long time ago & was instantly struck by how beautiful it was, both visually & musically. Pity we didn't get to enjoy that on the US release of the series. (I watched the series a lot as a kid; that & "Astroboy" were my introduction to both Osamu Tezuka and, by extension, Anime' in general.)
Unforgettable memories of my childhood I've had seen it as a kid on the TV iraq in year of 1984 and now watching it again as an old man

I just feel so lucky to grow up watching such a high quality piece in 70s. I also like our recent "Simba", but was simply disappointed by Disney's "similarities are coincident" comment, as both stories teach kids about mutual respect.

@Ancalagon3 Here is the reason Kimba was named Kimba....Simba, as is mentioned in the history, means lion in Swahili, and is therefore public-domain. A man named Jacques Liebengut, who was a member of NBC's advertising team, had a daughter named Kimberly, for whom he had fondly come up with the pet name Kimba. He suggested this name as a solution to NBC's name problem, and it stuck."] so he was named Kimba so the name could be copyright. However Kimba in Swahili means corpse

The origin is Osamu Tezuka's “Leo the Jungle Emperor” (the UAS version is titled “Kimba the White Lion” and uses the same setting). Original: Fuji Television Network, Japan, October 6, 1965 - September 28, 1966: Original title “Jungle Emperor”. The name "KIMBA THE WHITE LION" was changed for overseas use when the anime was exported to USA and other foreign countries, and the original Japanese versions were released as " JUNGLE EMPEROR" and " LEO the JUNGLE EMPEROR“. The name of the main character in the Japanese original is not “KIMBA” but "LEO," a white lion, and Leo's father is "PANJA”. Remember that the original Japanese title "JUNGLE EMPEROR" means almostly what Disney's "The LION KING" means. “The Jungle Emperor” was created by OSAMU TEZUKA in 1950 as a Japanese-style cartoon MANGA for children. 1950 - Manga serialization began in the monthly magazine “Manga Shonen”. 1965 - On October 6, 1965, a color TV animation series produced by Mushi (Osamu Tezuka) Productions began airing on Japan's Fuji Television network as JUNGLE EMPEROR. It was later exported and renamed " KIMBA THE WHITE LION " and broadcast in the U.S. and many other countries around the world. Osamu Tezuka is credited with originating and popularizing the current Japanese method of manga in the 1950s. He is also the person who animated his own original manga works and realized the TV broadcasting system. He was the one who continued to write his original manga work on his sickbed until just before he passed away at the age of 60. He was also the first person to animate Astro Boy, his original manga, for TV in Japan in the 1960s, creating an Manga animation boom in Japan. In the 1950s, the Japanese version of Walt Disney was already in existence in Japan. Without him, Japanese animation would not be what it is today! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eouWhqaFqZmEgqc “Jungle Emperor Leo” full movie 1966 theatrical animation movie kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHO1opKjm8unjdk Kimbab The White Lion / Ep02 Original: Fuji Television Network, Japan, October 6, 1965 - September 28, 1966: Original title “Jungle Emperor”. “The Jungle Emperor” 1966 - The 4th Nippon Television Press Association Special Award. Won the first prize for the best TV movie of the year from the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Japan Central Children's Cultural Properties Division. Received the Japan Children's Welfare and Culture Award from the Minister of Health and Welfare. 1966 - "Color Animation JUNGLE EMPEROR the Movie" was released in Japan's Toho Pictures system. Isao TOMITA was in charge of the film's music. Released as the composition "Symphonic Poem: JUNGLE EMPEROR ".

Wow! Much as I really love the 60's English theme song, the original is really cool!
JUNGLE EMPEROR LEO LEO at the time in 1965 It was very cute. For theme music, but Tezuka had hoped such a simple song children sing, many of the staff supported the magnificent music.

Dicen que este animé fue la inspiración para crear años después al Rey León. Ahora entiendo porqué. Y es que por algo Osamu Tezuka era el dios del manga.
