Fun Fact- Central Asians look just like East Asians, most people dont seem to know that. Kirghizstan and Kazakhstan people look no different then Koreans, and Uzbekistan and "HALF of AFGHANISTAN" is also of partly east asian type(Hazaras people) Crazy right? Filipinos who are Austronesian people are mostly related to other South East Asians, and also to Polynesians, Melanesian to a little degree, Micronesian the original inhabitants of Taiwan who spoke a Malayo-Polynesian language. That's why a lot of South East get mistaken for each other. A lot of Chinese immigrated to the Philippines, and one of the largest ethnic group in the Philippines behind the Malays who speak a Malayo-Polynesian language. Also in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, the Pacific Islands(Oceania), Hawaii they speaks those sort of dialects. I can understand that a lot of people with dark hair, dark features that are exotic or unique looking get mistaken for more nationalities than anyone else from my experience. No matter if their mixed or not. Yes, Filipinos/Filipinas have very little Spanish as a whole population. Mainly of Austronesian makeup.

Finally, an honest Filipino not claiming to be "Spanish" or "Latin;" and perfectly accepting that he is, in fact, pure Asian. Only uppity Filipinos keep harping on their alleged "Spanish" ancestry. As others have commented below, having a few Spanish words in your language, being a Roman Catholic or light skinned, or having a Spanish sounding surname like Gonzalez or Hernandez doesn't make you Spanish or Latin- all it does is make you look like a self-hater. To those uppity Filipinos: Why focus on the alleged 1% ancestry of "Spanish blood" (I have no doubt that number is extremely high and unrealistic) yet ignore the remaining 99% Asian ancestry? In the end, it doesn't matter what you think you are, as everyone else still only sees a Filipino, and not the Spaniard with Filipino ancestry that you think you are.

@Teo- I don't know, he doesn't look disappointed, just surprised he doesn't have "Spanish blood." Yes, the Spaniards colonized the Phillipines, but the vast majority of Filipinos have no actual Spanish ancestry. But you're right, Filipinos have a militant, almost obsessive belief they are "Spanish." It's sad really, as if they believe they have no value if they are NOT Spanish. It reminds me of Mexicans that claim to be descendants of the Aztecs, when the reality is the majority of Mexicans have no Aztec ancestry (though they will certainly have ancestry of lesser known Indigenous peoples). Dominicans are the opposite- no matter how black they are, they will refuse to believe they have black ancestry.

Awesome results! My bf and my mom are from the Philippines. My mom only claims to be Filipino and Chinese because my grandma was half Chinese/Filipino. She claims to have no European ancestry of any kind and she is from a city in Mindanao.. And even all of my Filipino relatives have native Filipino surnames as well.. That only people in the Philippines have. My bf is from Manila.. But I know his parents are from other Islands though. He also claims to have no European/Spanish ancestry of any kind. you can loose your ethnic marker for spanish dna so that unidentifed DNA strand is just arbitrarily assigned to being filipino and austronesian..DNA tests is not exact science yet and most have european data bases in them rather than asian and other races

To Filipinos: there were 3 major types of Mestizos in the PH. 1. Mestizo Espanol. 2. Sangley (Mestizo Chino) 3. Mestizo Americano. If your grampa says your great granny is a mestiza, just look at yourself in the mirror and you can see. Majority of Filipinos do not know they are part Chinese, not Spanish. The Filipino-Spanish descent either left the PH back to Spain during Spanish-American War or they stood by and were eliminated by Americans. the results are based on the dna data base of the company that does the analysis. many interpret the results incorrectly. 26% polynesian doesnt mean that there is polynesian ancestry. it simply means that 26% of your dna is shared by the polynesians in the data base of this particular company. one must take into consideration the history of human migration. The polynesians are said to have originated in the southeast asia region. which is where the common dna that is shared with filipinos comes from. They did not travel to the philippines and leave their dna.

+87willus other southeast Asians have similar DNA results to Filipinos.. On Vietnamese girl was 87% Eastern Asian and 13% Polynesian. Another Indonesian guy was 92% or 93% Eastern Asian and the rest was Polynesian. I have seen some half white half Filipinos take this test and get over 50% Asian.. And like 48% European... I just get annoyed when people say all Filipinos are mixed with Spanish.. But no European shows up in any of these tests :P

+KawaiiMochi False, in Ancestry DNA it may or may not show in breakdown because maybe lack of data of Filipinos. Ancestry does give cousin match, and that is where one may see hints of what their real DNA is all about. Other Asians that did Ancestry should send their results to GEDmatch to get real results that will end up matching Ancestry's cousins match. Our "Spanish" most likely will show as Native American, European, and African, that mixture are Mexicans. :) Spanish Galleons came from Mexico to Philippines.

+ValleyBlue 77 I have seen two of the people in my half Filipino group and their results showed they were MORE Asian/Polynesian then European. People from Latin America are VERY heavily mixed.. Tri racial mostly.. The America's were closer to Europe than the Philippines was so most of the Spanish went to Latin America.. And a less of them went to the Philippines. You don't see Tons of Filipinos who have great great great grandparents born in the Philippines who show up to be 30%-70% European like a lot of Latinos are. I have seen TONS of white and mixed looking Mexicans/Latinos where as I don't see tons and tons of Filipinos who look white. (Unless they actually have one white parent.) My Filipino relatives claim to have no Spanish blood even my bf' claims to have no Spanish blood as well. We also have the native Filipino surnames as well.

cool! i think its because our dna in SEA is so similar its hard to really pinpoint an exact country. Use gedmatch.com, it only takes a few minutes !!

HarrapaWorld is a calculator geared toward South Asians (India, Pakistan, Bangaldesh, Sri Lanka). I believe PuntDNAL might be more for those of Southeast Asian ancestry - try PuntDNAL K13 Global.

Good video, and good choice in uploading to GEDmatch so you could explore beyond AncestryDNA. Since Eurogenes K36 shows you have zero percent affinity with the Iberian element, I agree that you didn't inherit any Spanish DNA. As for HarappaWorld, it's an acceptable calculator, but it's known to assign people tiny percentages in error. Percentages under 2 percent and especialyl under 1 percent are questionable when there's an absence of other evidence. For example, some people received false Amerindian scores and false Pygmy scores in HarappaWorld when they don't really descend from those populations.

That is the direction I'm leaning. If you have any fully European matches that can be validated, it could represent a real European ancestor many generations back, but in your case that probably won't happen.

+purplecorn Interesting that you just said that about Amerindian percentages. I got Native American/Amerindian and Siberian in almost all my admixtures in Gedmatch. The highest amount I got is 1.66%. But for my Ancestry DNA cousins match..I got a Hispanic/Mexican as my closest 4th cousin. So in a way, Gedmatch validated my Hispanic cousin from Ancestry DNA, even though I only got 62/38 Asian and Polynesian results.

Bro I see this video is kinda long ago so maybe you did more research already. But those results don't say much yet about 'Spanish DNA" be careful with your fast conclusions! Because they can pick ancient results!! Europeans are over the time a mix from eachother same with Asians, south Europeans are known of being a mix between broadly European and middle eastern/north African! This is espcially very common with South Spaniards and Italians! Other side you might be right, because you don't look like an mixed Filipino person to me, tho it doesnt matter with the amount of Euro dna you might have.

Dude, there is very little spanish dna in philipines... Estimates for the entire Philippine population is 0.02 percent. .. 0.02 percent of the entire population may have spanish blood... 0.02 percent is NOTHING... You can continue to pay more money with hopes of getting more european results, but believe me when I say that ANY results that come back as 0.4, 0.7, 0.02 or any other 0. whatever is not enough to tell the world that you are of european background... Why do filipinos always talk about some unknown spanish blood ??? From all that I've read, the spanish may have landed there, and may have lived there for a while, but they did not care to mix with filipinos... They didn't even teach you guys spanish... I've heard a few filipinos try to convince me of their mysterious spanish blood by saying a couple words in spanish, or because they may have a spanish name... Some of the DNA tests don't look at the Y Chromosomes which is responsible for male genetics and back then the majority of Spanish in the Philippines were male so the test could be flawed. The reason some don't check Y Chromosome is because females don't have them so they try to make a more general tests that works in all situations..

Before even Columbus went to the other side and As for Philippines was colonized by Spain people in the Philippines is already mixed. Mostly all Asian countries and Arabs as well.have migrated and went to their roots.Though Arabs will be 0.3 %.
